I think "Ball Dropped" is in reference to all the ball gametypes not being in yet, but given we have explicit confirmation an amorphous "ball" gametype is coming in February, I don't think it's totally appropriate. Also, from the old thread:

With the addition of Mk. V Alpha to Halo 5 guardians I'm still highly anticipating Mk. V armor in a later update. Maybe it'll come with the CE magnum, which has been held off for quite a while despite being announced before the Classic and H2 BR.

The ball mode is a generic one that can be made into Oddball, Assault, Grifball, etc.
