Also wtf at this. I had to look it up to verify it was true.

Yes they monetized the school shooting video, that's why some people were already saying the Fine Brothers were some pretty shady guys

That corporate dick-sucking, scripted, half-angry apology was the worst thing about this. No sincerity, no explanation. Just a couple of money-hungry assholes who thought they could right the ship with an incredibly vague excuse filled with "sorry" and "community"

It really wasn't an apology, though. It should have been. But it was more of an attempt at an explanation.

"Sorry you don't understand," not "sorry, forget the whole thing, it was in poor taste."

Another straightforward, level-headed breakdown from Foldable Human
Awesome summary of what is so wrong with the Fine's scheme. Immediately liked and subscribed. I wonder if he reveals a nugget of another way to have this backfire, since the licensing is so open and lacking of quality control, what's stopping a bunch of licensees from putting up really crappy content to drag down their brand?

The only thing I would add to Foldable Human's comments is that the Fine Bros came at this from 180 degrees the wrong direction in both videos. Everything they say is from their perspective and they never really get beyond "be part of the community" part of the pitch. Seriously Brahs, what's in it for me?

Well... that and that they couldn't be any more pompous and full of themselves.

They've lost a smudge above 1% of their subs.
I've said it before - sub numbers mean nothing next to engagement.

You can have 80 million subscribers and only engage 5% or have 100 subscribers and engage 40,000%.

A LOT of their engagement comes from non-subs who see their videos shared by those who actively engage in the channel.

If their average views are, say 4m per video and they lose 1m subs, that's effectively losing 25% of their reach wiht just those who engage. Now factor in those subs who share videos and non-subs engagement and you're losing a lot more engagement.

Sub numbers are so you can puff your chest. Nobody cares.

Performance and engagement is where you count your money - this is what "the man" looks at.

Remember, those who are unsubbing are considered those who engage because the engagement door swings both ways and we are seeing their active users fall by the wayside. I'm quite sure many of their subs aren't actively engaging.

I think the idea was to persuade their audience it was good for them (without ever specifying how) by just saying with a lot of excitement how good and exciting it is.

I think Dan Olson adressed this well enough early on in his video where he pointed out a proper licensing program is actually fine?

The best part is still them thinking that what they do is actually good, inspiring, original. It's fucking reaction videos, I know that millions watch it, but billions of people fart everyday, does that make farts good?

Had this open earlier to show someone and forgot about it. Very steady decline, until just now when it suddenly dropped 600 subs in an update heh.

Whoa, I think I can see that even on the other tracker I've been watching.

I wonder what happened all of a sudden.

Are they freaking out at this point? Even if they get to 13m thats still a shit ton of subs. The train wreck watcher in me would think they need to hit a really low number for any type of impact. I know jack about subs though.

So I usually have dreams that are a mix of random things, and stuff that I had focused on or came across the day before.

So aside from the usual random stuff, I had a dream that the fine bros created a react video (with youtubers and teens reacting) to their react world video (to say positiive things about it) in a last ditch attempt to stop the subs from falling but it added even more fuel to the fire and the subs started dropping even faster. LOL.

Has anyone who has appeared in their videos [like YouTubers React] said anything about this?
