Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition on the Nintendo NA eShop this Thursday

Best version of the game.

Compatible with the Wii Classic Controller, so it should be playable only with the gamepad.

There are few games I want to continuously be rereleased but Resident Evil 4 is one of them. I want it on New 3DS, I want it on PS4, I want a proper Wii U version with gamepad support and I even want it on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. RE4 never stops being perfect and it deserves a lifetime of sales.

For those who haven't tried it the Wii version is the best imo, don't be afraid of motion controls.

I think it was confirmed NOT playable with the gamepad when it was released in Europe.

Twilight Princess too, and in that case, all three versions are actually pretty different.

But yeah, let the RE4 hype train never end. I'm sure we'll see it on PS4, Xbone and NX soon enough.

I gotta be the guy.

Never played RE4 before. Is this the best way to play it or is PS3 better?

PS3 version has better resolution.

The best is the recent PC version in terms of graphical fidelity. Many love the motion controls in the Wii version, though.

Wow, I just noticed this from your observation, but you're right!

Can't wait to replay it! Got it preordered.

Back to RE4. I need to use the GC controller. It's perfect for that game.

Due to the odd way this works with the CC, it doesn't actually work with the Gamepad, unless they fixed it from the European release

The Wii version is the one to go for. PS3 and PC are both great for visuals but for the ultimate gameplay experience you can't beat the Wii, controls are so good.

It really is the best version of the game. Only time I ever got a 100% accuracy rating for shots was on the Wii version. That puts it above all others, in my book. And I'm usually a mouse + keyboard kinda guy.

The strange thing with Twilight Princess is that it released on the Wii first and then Gamecube a couple weeks later. Talk about a weird situation.

I'm not sure I'll buy RE4 again, pretty sure I've already bought it four times at this point. Still, anyone that hasn't played should give it a try.

I recognize the want to play this with a CC Pro or on the Gamepad (no idea why that isnt supported)

But the Wiimote and Nunchuck are GREAT on this game. You may be doing yourself a disservice to play it on a traditional controller.

The PAL version is identical to the NTSC version except it won't start unless the nunchuck is connected. As soon as you plug it in, you can then remove the nunchuck and plug in the CC and it'll work just fine. NTSC boxart shows CC support, whereas PAL boxart shows Wiimote and Nunchuck only.

I really don't understand why they did that.

Well, PS3 version is HD, even if the textures/details were not upgraded, this one looks as good as the GC with widescreen and a fun controller scheme, i say it depends what do you think of the Wii Remote and pointer.

While I do like the Wii version for its nice controls, it makes the game far too easy since there is no recoil.

What a weird quirk, but this should mean that off-TV play should be in this.

Not sure where else to ask this...

I have the game on Wii, 360 and Steam. Is the Steam HD port the way to go? Or should I just play it on my 360? I'll probably run the Wii version eventually for a 2nd playthrough in the future just to try the motion controls.

Wii Edition controls really enhanced the experience for me. Played and beat the GCN one just once but with Wii Edition, because the controls are so good I actually 100% cleared it.

Easily one of my favorite games of all time...

So I would need to buy a classic controller to play without waggle?? ugh...

Well, this version should work with the Gamepad. finley83 pointed out that there's a weird quirk with the PAL release that prevented it from using it that's not present in the US release.

This and MGS3 are two of the only games I will buy pretty much every iteration of, buuuut I still have my Wii disc so I think I gotta pass on this one. Pointer controls rule though, do not hesitate.

Come onnnnn, 3DS/Vita port.

Awesome! I misunderstood that post and thought it meant I would need a Wii CC to play this on my wii u. Thanks!
