What? They've taken a complete 180. Their new statement is incredible. They are completely rescinding their trademark to React World and giving back all previous Content ID claims for previous videos they've taken down.

They should be considered angels now, right? This is forgiveness material.
They weren't being given a choice. They were about to suffer the humiliation of losing their trademark application, and React World doesn't work if they don't own the trademarks. Furthermore, their brand was being destroyed. This was having a real financial impact on them.

God's had his chance.
So in a way we will all remember this day and that video as being when a community came together to make something good happen.

At what point do you suppose they looked at the numbers rolling off their subs page and said "Well fuck. Better cut the cord on this one."

150k? 200? 250?

I wouldn't jump as far as considering them angels. There was not much choice left here.

They'll remember it as the day the world got good.

I don't think it was just that, but the legal pressure too. I think they forsaw that they'd lose their trademarks too, so it was lose lose. They basically didn't have a choice.

I still think they're greedy and will continue to take down smaller videos of people sharing reacts of their kids opening a birthday gift or something like that. Never will they go after Ellen or Kimmel again tho

Deep down they are greedy ass people

Weird to think about the fact that - if they hadn't made that announcement video and just filed for the trademarks quietly this might have not had the chance to flame out so big before some of them made it through and then they might be in the position of not having a chance to call backsies and attempt to garner any good will.

In the long con picture of all this ... the ferver and backlash over their initial video may have actually saved them hurt after all.

Wonder if this 180 will stop people from abandoning the channel or if this whole thing ruined their reputation for good. Doesn't look like the numbers are slowing down any.

Honestly, until this week I had no idea who these guys are. Normally, I always give people second chances but after seeing all their previous actions regarding Ellen, Sandy Hook, etc... I don't know if I can. I still feel like they're greedy, delusional, extremely hypocritical, and just all around douches but they ultimately did the right thing even though I believe it was solely out of self preservation and not because they realized that they were morally wrong.

They didn't do this because they wanted to. They did this under pressure. They listened, but not to the internet and their "Update." video has already shown us that. We had beef and all they did was yap about how WE were the ones confused despite their previous actions.

The only light that went on above their heads was the one in the interrogation room with their sponsors.

Rescinding all their trademarks? But how will they protect their brand and expand the internet community globally? (I can say "react" now, right?)

They are clearly not #teaminternet more like #teamcorporatefail

Yeah. I'll believe that they've turned over a new leaf if they can go a year without claiming someone is ripping them off.

I don't have the numbers but I remember that Channel Awesome took a hit during the Lupa saga and had a hard time recovering.

Finally found somebody defending the Fine Bros.
For the most part the guy's defense is pretty weak and seems like a setup for the woman to be like "No, you're wrong and here's why!"

Too late, they're on my shit list, they're only doing this because the internet left them no choice. That's as admirable as a junky deciding not to rob your house when you have him at gunpoint and telling him to get the fuck out.

1. Rescind all of our “React” trademarks and applications.*
2. Discontinue the React World program.
3. Release all past Content ID claims.**

1. Time for me to trademark "React"
2. Start a React World Program

Mwhahahahahaha

this should have been done in a video, tbh, considering what this is all about

i'm sad this is over now. this has been a fun time. it's cool to see everyone banding together to fight against bullshit

i'll just watch that counter keep ticking down until it eventually slows and stops.

good job everyone

People might not even realize its over if they dont release a video. So i bet the subscriber count will keep going down until they do

I was waiting for him to drop the facade and devil advocate, but he seems to actually believe what he was saying.

Before anyone thinks about going back to watching/supporting Fine Bros, just remember that they will likely try something similar again, what they were doing wasn't that original, and you can likely find another group of reactors that are just as if not more entertaining. [I always get a kick out of the people over at Facts. and as far as I'm aware it isn't run by shady folk]

the fact that they thought all of this was a good idea in the first place should be enough for people not to support them in the future. it's not like they came to the conclusion to withdraw their initiative on their own. if the backlash wasn't this severe it would be a react world and we'd all just be living in it.

greed is what started this whole thing, and greed is ultimately what ended it. this was a business decision, not a moral one. if they could have still gotten away with this, they would have

don't support the fine brothers

They really have no sense of PR it's insane, they are issuing a written apology on the internet after publishing 2 horrendous videos.

I mean, who cares? I've could've written it, my little sister could have written it, it has no impact whatsoever.
You don't get to act like douchebags and then write 20 lines saying "o btw sry lol xoxo".

I only ever watched their stuff when it was linked to NeoGAF, usually on the gaming side as I enjoyed the occasional 'teens react to [nostalgia game/gaming music]'
