The Tomorrow Children Beta Announced

Just got disconnected again, so I think that's it for me unless I hop back on late this evening. Not sure why, but this beta feels glitchier than the last one--maybe because we've had more time to spend in it, maybe just server troubles. The lengthy wait to get back into a town after disconnection is pretty bad, as is the way the town economy just shuts down if the bus gets stuck for whatever reason. It doesn't seem realistic to expect a town to just keep a fleet of cars around just in case, but that's what it feels like you need right now.

But these all sound like "well it's beta" kinds of bugs, so hopefully things will be better on release/in the next beta. Something I'm a little more afraid of is whether the game has staying power beyond the first few hours. It could be that the beta is content limited (perhaps there will be a wider array of missions or more islands on release, for example), but with many more hours to screw around this time, I didn't actually feel like I did much different than the first beta period. We did make it to a level 2 town hall, and it looks like there's more stuff for level 3, but the basic tools and techniques didn't seem to evolve much and it's hard to know if there's another stage to the gameplay once you have a reasonably well-established town going.

Anyways, still very curious about the game and still looking forward to release. Good luck Galunka!

Some of the changes made since last month seem to be causing some fallout. Working on continued improvements.

lol I saw Silversurfer get jailed by one of the workbenches. How long are they trapped in there?

edit: Looks like the bus is stuck again...

Can someone fix the bus please? I think you have to delete a trash can??? We had a bunch of wood there too!!

Anyone ins GAF town can fix this??

Placing a structure in front of the bus will mess with it. Unfortunately, the bus issue from last month is still present, so even if there is nothing blocking it, it will still sometimes get stuck.

Not really a fan of how every action is bound to O. If you're standing on a diggable surface and being attacked by a monster, you can't attack with a shovel or chainsaw because you'll just dig instead.

You guys are still playing ?
7th disconnect or so today, I'm calling it quit.

Gorgeous game, and tons of very interesting ideas, but still needs a ton of work imo (and not even about the disconnects - some of the core mechanics just plain aren't fun and the UI is waay too busy/ confusing, at least for me)

To add to the 'could use some work imo' list I already made:

- tools are used up way too easily I think. When you get in the groove for mining/ digging/ chopping, the last thing you want is every 10-15 hits having to get a new tool
- bag space increases over time, but 4 item space is too small for starter
- metal is far too rare
- there is a potential for being out of luck for coupons and thus possibly tools, as you need to turn in your deeds to the ministry of labor which can be destroyed. If you are out of coupons, and freeman $, the only other choice is then grinding on the mill? If the mills are destroyed and the town runs out of electricity, I'm not even sure you can buy anything anymore, then being entirely reliant on finding freeman $?
- it's very hard to coordinate efforts without any in-game coms. I guess a group of friends with voice chat would do well, but otherwise is kind of anarchy.

Use Square to swing at them as an attack!

Still can't connect. I was able to fine in the first beta.

We're finding that people aren't able to connect at all if choosing "Continue" if they have data from last time. Please try Town Select if you've been trying Continue.
Also, we're aware of the issues with the train loading being very long/crashing in general, and looking into that.

whoops. That's what I meant to say I was doing. (I'm tired so I ended up combining two things that've been bothering me into one... [the other thing being that O is used to both autoload resources and to pick them up, making putting down resources tricky while standing in a crowded loading zone.])

I just checked to make sure: Pressing square when using a chainsaw does attack as long as I'm careful with my aiming (so, no taking potshots while running away). Pressing square with a shovel out just digs no matter where I'm looking.

Yeah, attacking with tools by destructable terrain can be tricky.

Just got done playing in a random town for an hour. We were out of wood and metal, managed to collect a bunch, and then it all got drained in minutes on random dumb shit people made, like 2 union shops when 1 was already built, people's bells, propaganda, etc. Instead of domiciles or a police station (there was only 1 turret!)/ The town had like 13 monuments but only 60 population and a level 1 town hall.

It's taking a long time to switch towns/reconnect, don't know how much more play time I can get in. If I get back in to GAFtown I'm staying there.

Look in the "towns holding events" filter

(Gotta change that name)

oh god we overloaded the bus

(I'm pretty sure that's not actually a thing you can do. Right?)

Uh, corrections on these

The correct filter is the "Towns Needing Assistance" for Request towns, and there is no limit on the bus. As long as there's enough time and enough people loading, it should be able to fit as much as you can put on.

I've been trying both. Stays at the train loading screen.

I built an electrical shop and tried to place it next to the union and worker shops but couldn't get it lined up (wouldn't turn green) so i placed it where i could and went out to an island however when i come back the buildings had moved around and were perfectly aligned. Even moved the electrical shop in between the other two instead of off to the left.

Which is good cause it looked messy, but is that a thing, do buildings move on their own?

Yeah the town looks excellent.

Also, big tip: You can put a doll on your back by pressing the down arrow, and then carry it to safety with a parasol. Kind of a game changer, I assumed since it didn't work with a parasol since it doesn't with a jetpack. Wish I could've gotten them all off that cubes island before it vanished.

Awesome work, the town looks fantastic! Especially the entrance/commercial area.

I took a pic whilst I was over there actually (I'm Rigby85 in your pics hehe)

I got a nice aerial shot earlier this evening too:

So easy to sink time into this game and get carried away, "just a bit longer..." Bed calls though. I shall look forward to next time ^^

wow these changes are awesome!

Some notes:
Long load times: we never saw these throughout extensive QA testing and think it's caused by a simple configuration problem in the switch from private test to public test. We are investigating now. In our internal tests load times never really exceeded 30 seconds which is why this one has taken us by surprise. All we can do is apologize and give thanks that we had a beta so we can find it.

Bus not moving bug: This is actually a bug with the networking which we have already addressed for Day 1 launch. We didn't want to risk pushing the beta back to fix it. It occurs when a lot of people login and out of a stage continuously and doesn't only affect the bus but other synchronizy bits too, it's just that the bus is kind of critical so it's very noticeable!

This is my favourite "move" in the game. (other players can see you floating down too)

Been trying to get in for the past hour myself, now i'm trying to go to a new town just so i can play. Been keeping myself occupied with hearthstone while riding this train.

Not really enjoying the game, feels like a PS+ game I'd play for an hour and then uninstall and never touch again.

Glad to hear the long loading times are a known bug, that was a bit annoying. I dunno though, nothing really clicks in the game for me I just feel like I'm wandering around Soviet Minecraft.

Its been a bit of a, dare I say it, boring test for me. Still been hooked pretty much all day but in the hope that a town would flourish with players.

Every town I visited from the town list would slowly loose players, usually because of a stuck bus. There are loads of towns with just a couple of players, having so many has really fragmented the pool of testers. If this was intended then fair enough, it's a beta after all.
