Can't read all the thread, but are game's performances and dumb AI in the full game too, or the beta was an old build of the game?

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that this is a much older build and we're going to see significant improvement come Fri. At least I hope it's much older, either that or I/O's been putting in some serious crunch time.

TBH, did difficulty ever actually do anything except make you die easier and remove saving?

As far as increasing difficulty goes, I think that's what the escalating contracts are for, adding extra conditions and whatnot.

Depends on the game.

- Codename 47 only remove respawn checkpoints, and you might as well start the level over if you die: AI remembers you as hostile.
- Silent Assassin and Contracts made suspicion far higher and recoil a nightmare. You almost cannot get into a firefight in Contracts with a fully automatic gun because it acts like 47 has never had gun training. It also removes saving.
- Blood Money continues some of the above, but makes notoriety a bigger thing.
- Absolution removes in-level checkpoints, increases the rate suspicion rises, and adds more guards to nearly every level.

I think for the main game, it depends on how the hits are designed, really. The Beta was kind of okay for this, because you can actually be killed pretty easily and inconsistently. The final game appears to have you ready for Max Payne levels of violence, so at least aggression is supported. And as you stated, Escalation Contracts will probably be there for the difficulty factor, though I would prefer game difficulty options to do this and not game modes.

The game seemed really promising, but I had a ton of audio glitches and one hard freeze, a first for my PS4 (admittedly, I've spent most of this gen playing on PC, so it being my first isn't too surprising). Definitely going to wait for more impressions when it releases.

Based on the review copy, many of these are fixed. The game still has an unlocked framerate, but even the Prologue stuff runs better, even if you'll still get some sub-30 dips. Some places that ran at that framerate now run at 60fps, so it's quite an interesting jump. I think the only location that ranks the framerate in the first training level is the second floor with that large mirror, but I imagine that's because of all of the post-processing the mirror is trying to do.

In the beta it seems you need to be online for the challenges to appear. Will it work the same way in the actual release of Hitman?
The game just finished preloading for me (PS4 in Australia), and this is what the update history says on that subject:

"Version 1.01

Thank you for playing HITMAN™. Our aim is to ensure you have the best possible game experience, and we recommend you keep your game connected to take full advantage of improvements or additions to the game. You will also need to be online to access the wealth of live content we have coming to you."

For anyone who's curious, the Hitman game itself is 9.96 GB. There are four add-ons listed for it:
  1. HITMAN™ Requiem Pack - White Rubber Duck Explosive
  2. HITMAN™ Requiem Pack - Silenced ICA-19 Chrome Pistol
  3. HITMAN™ Requiem Pack - Legacy Suit
  4. HITMAN™ Paris (2.7 GB)
It also downloaded "Hitman Static Theme" which is sadly locked until launch day as well.

My Aussie copy is locked until 12:01 AM Friday morning in local time (AEDT, which is GMT+11), which means that kiwis will get it first, followed by Aussies, and then gradually the rest of the world as the world turns (literally).

Dumb enemy AI sunk the Beta for me, it was a joke compared to MGSV, so unless there's some specific mention/examples of how it has been improved then this'll be the first Hitman game I miss since the first.

So are XB1 owners gonna miss out on a substantial amount content or no?

Thanks

PS4 players get 6 exclusive contracts revolving around a group called CICADA but they've been relatively tight lipped about how intricate those will be. I suspect it'll be a relatively small add-on along the lines of the elusive targets (just not disappearing after a limited time like the ETs) but it could be a larger restructuring of the level to accomodate it...if that's the case, then it would be a significant bonus for PS4 owners. I've got the PC version pre-ordered on amazon, but I'm on the fence about doubledipping on PS4 for the CICADA contracts. I don't know that it'll be worth it, but I may get the intro pack for PS4 to see.

Ooooh snap, I thought Contracts mode was PS4 exclusive but I just read the info about the game on the Xbox store and it talks about Contracts mode. I am glad I was wrong on that, a exclusive mode would have been rather extreme too.

Yeah Contracts is going to be like the bulk of the longevity in this title and I'm hoping there's some kind of community features so we can have a GAF contract pool. It would really suck if they had blocked that off.

Still like Silent Assassin's Creed

Is it the 11th yet?

3 more sleeps, man. 3 more.

Really looking forward to the reviews on this one. Hoping most of them will be very positive and I hope there's plenty to do in that one mission.

i liked the beta so have took the plunge on the intro pack. had lots of fun playing around with the sandboxes, it's been discussed to death but this really does feel like blood money 2.0. in that, with relative ease, you're able to explore without punishment. this is exemplified by the fact you can even talk to your target and do so pretty easily. one of my favourite qualities of this series is how it can make you believe that the world exists independently from you, instead of revolving around your every action. to me hitman is at its best when it achieves this illusion.

Not exactly, but we do know that it's largely lifted wholesale from Absolution's mode (which was one of the great parts of the game).

Yep, contracts mode in absolution was so good. Best part of the game, imo.

I really can't wait. I hope you can create contracts in the tutorial areas, too. They are small but still very fun.

I really need to decide whether I want to go PC or PS4. Not a game I would double dip on. Is there any reason to go with the platform that you would have more friends getting it on?

Well we don't yet know if Hitman will use the SEM link to upload/share contracts or if that's going to be a thing done through Steamworks and PSN. If it's the former, it really doesn't matter aside from the Sarajevo Six contracts on PS4. If it's the latter, then you will want the platform more friends are getting it on so you can share contracts to challenge your friends.

None of my friends are getting this, though, so I'm gonna hope for some good GAF contracts.

Does anybody know if I go the $15 route now and end up liking it enough to want everything that I will be able to upgrade to the $60 package? Or will I be forced to buy everything individually henceforth?

Oh, I wasn't aware that this is already coming out. Someone in this thread mentioned that Blood Money would be a great introduction* to the series, so I guess I'll try that one first.

* I've played a few hours of either Hitman 1 or Hitman 2, but I can barely remember anything.

So I came back today to the game preloaded? I don't know if the beta took 10 GB, but in my actual icon for the full game release it says downloaded already.
Yeah, as I mentioned above, preload goes live 48 hours before your local release date. It's 9.96 GB, although I'm not sure if that includes the 2.7 GB Paris download.

Although I did receive an email from Sony saying the game would go live at 9pm on the 10th of March, my XMB countdown is still to midnight on the 11th in local time (as you'd expect).
