No, it's still a singleplayer game. The online component is in the form of challenges, like completing the objective in specific ways.

But I would have tried the beta were it not for the fact that it would stay on my download list forever.

Beta was also available to people who preordered it, and it's still playable offline.

I enjoyed it on PC.

You can come up with some fun/different ways to take out targets if you've got a good imagination.

It will hand hold you through the initial demo, then you're free to do whatever.

I think it's meant to be kind of a "soft-reboot", that said, the story really doesn't matter anyways. I have over 400 hours with the franchise and I still can't for the life of me tell you what the overall plot is
