Just in time for my yearly bonus. I already got 2 Move controller but wished I bought more when they were dirt cheap.

Tried all of the dev units, and so far the PSVR HMU is by far the most consumer friendly verison, and you'll be genuinely surprised by how good it is and how well playstation games look.

I don't like the thought of playing with move controllers so I'm glad it wasn't added to increase the price. People keep mentioning the camera as well--what would be the purpose of the camera?

My idea sweet spot for Sony was just shy of £300. Tad of leeway but on point.

It's within my range.

Your move DOAX3.

Darn expensive to me, but relatively cheap compared to the other VR headsets.

Can you also connect it to the PC? That would be a big selling point

Question, I'm reading all these posts and seeing people losing their shit over a PS Camera not being included.

Does PSVR need the PS Camera to work? Or PS Move for that matter?

I have the camera for PS4 but not the PS Move.

Still think this is a solid, competive price that undercuts their direct competitors in Oculus and Vive.

Actually...I'm not entirely sure how great that deal is considering the headset is likely tied to the PS4 hardware.

Did they mention whether or not the headset would work with future PlayStations? $400 is a lot to drop on a console that is half way through its lifespan already with no guarantees it will be forward-compatible with the PS5. That would certainly make me feel better about a PSVR purchase.

I'm not saying is cheap. Is a new tech and being an early adopter has always downsides incluiding price.

I'm glad they didn't include the camera in the base package though. I mean, I have one so it would be a bit annoying to be charged for that again and would probably knock the price up to £400 anyway.

Playing actual games is different, when you're watching a video from a distance in virtual reality, there aren't enough pixels in the Vive/Rift/PSVR display to actually recreate it at full resolution.

You would need a 10K display to actually display a 4K video true to resolution from a distance in virtual space.
Hmm, never actually heard of this before. Do you have a link to a source? I do believe you, I just would like to read up on it.

I'll still give it a go when it arrives just because I'm excited.

So considering that the PS4 camera is needed, and the taxes, the real price most likely be well over $500. Hillarious PR tactic from Sony making a bundle that doesn't contain everything needed for PSVR to actually work. This thing will be most likely abandoned by Sony after 1st year like all the peripherals/accesories they've made for their consoles.

What I need to know last is the specs of this thing.

PLEASE tell me that devs will support the Move controller

How hard is it to have Move support?? Because I want to play most of this with Move

Yep the screen is must be the biggest part.
120Hz RGB 1080p at 5.7" is quite holy grail to make. Even 90hz so rare too.

But it is very good price. I could get the full kit under $800.

No. The DS4 is a capable VR controller. Lots of demos and games they've shown use the DS4.
The DS4 is about as much of a VR controller as any other dual analog controller.

I'm really disappointed that Vive is the only platform shipping with fully tracked dedicated VR controllers out of the box.

So basically $500 with a camera and move controller... Oculus and Vive may be the better deals in the long run if you take into account the difference in the cost of games as generally pc games seem to cost less on average.

Agreed, ppl still think 399 is a great price lol

Sony said this would be "affordable". $399, regardless of the inclusion of the camera, is not that. When your accessory is more than the cost of the console, it's not going to be viewed as affordable to the average customer.

$299 was the sweet spot for me. $399 is a lot of money I haven't tried VR yet it better be worth the money!

be honest: you were going to pay whatever tax they charged, just like the rest of us. Even yesterday people were suggesting a price of $199.

It's amazing how unrealistic people can be when it comes to applying their hopes and dreams as it relates to their budgets.

This price makes me think it will go the way of the Vita. Of course "enthusiasts" on a gaming forum will buy this, but not many will buy a HMD that they most likely won't use that often for that price.
Me included.

So... In Europe a PS4 + PSVR will be 150€ cheaper (100€ if you need to buy the 50€ PS Camera) than just the HTC Vive Headset...

As someone who has paid almost no attention to VR stuff.
Why is it cheaper then the other two? Are they sacrificing quality for affordability?

Quality and it doesn't come with everything you need (Which is fair since I think especially the camera quite a few people have already). With everything you can tack another hundred bucks on, basically.
