PSVR Price: $399/399/£349/¥44,980, no camera/move, launching October

Seems a little weird that the camera is not included when it isn't going to work without one, no?

I guess they just really wanted to be able to get the list price under $400.

It's completely expected since they've been selling that camera for years now.

I always found it funny that the camera was always selling out early on.

Why the front headset LEDs off?

Will be annoyed if one of the LED broken.
Weird assumption. It's probably off because Flower might not support positional tracking.

Do we have confirmation that North America pre sales begin at 7am EST on Amazon? I need to have this on lock before I go to bed.

I already own 4 move controllers, 2 nav controllers, and the PS4 camera. I'd like to pull the trigger on this, but for me it's all about the games. Is there a video compendium of PSVR games so far? The Ubi Werewolf announcement today was thoroughly unimpressive; if that represents the general caliber of launch titles I will wait.

He's playing it in cinema mode, so there's no need for the LEDs as there's no positional tracking there. It's just treating it like a giant-ass TV screen on your face.

The system console isn't producing 120hz. The (upto) 60hz data from the PS4 is interpolated to 120hz, which the headset displays at 120hz.
That is not true.

PSVR doesn't have interpolation and PS4 can render native 60, 90 or 120hz.

60hz is the minimum and not up to.

I dunno about completely expected, the camera sold amazingly well for the first few months, but sales obviously dropped off after that (since Sony stopped crowing about it). With 36 million PS4's, and possibly between 1 and 2 million cameras, to me not including the camera/Moves is a cash grab, a way to advertise a $399 price for a $499 device.

PSVR does indeed have a form of interpolation. If a game renders at 60hz, the software can then show that image twice at 120hz, adjusting the positioning of the image every other 120hz frame based on how the head moves.

Have the mentioned if replacement bands for the face will be available? I imagine I will be demoing this to everyone I know and the sweat will be incredible.

And with the bundled version that has the camera & move it will be at least $649 CDN and maybe even more.

Canada to Sony is probably just a write off at this point.

Canadian dollar has been slowly crawling back up lately. A lot could happen until October, could be for the best, or for the worst too. If we get closer back to parity, I would assume they would change the launch price in CAD to match.

It's just the currency. Oil and natural resources are tanked because world manufacturing is down as well as a oil glut due to Iranian sanctions being lifted and OPEC maintaining productions and the US bringing a lot of reserve online.

I predicted 449, so I'll admit I was wrong. 399 is pretty sweet. Not sure if the wife will be on board though.

I've got at least one Move from when they first launched, but I'm not sure I've got two. May need to buy another one regardless, and if they'll actually see use now I suppose I should invest in a charger. Luckily I already have a PS4 camera that I've basically made no use of so at least it finally has a real use-case.

Preorders open anywhere yet?

Going to guess that that person is playing in Cinematic mode.

No need for the tracking lights if you're just playing with what's on the screen. Notice that the screen in the background is fullscreen, too. All the other demos in VR you'll notice there's black bars on the side.

I was unimpressed too. Unfortunately, I think that's going to be about the best we get in terms of non-cockpit games. It's important to remember this is new grounds when it comes to gaming though. I bet we see some amazing stuff next fall and into 2018.

I was pumped for vr but I might actually hold off until some heavy hitters drop. I guess there could be some amazing announcements at E3 but I'll probably just hold off and pick up the NX this fall.

I wonder if in Cinema mode it still just outputs normal fullscreen to the TV.

I'm getting tired... headless mode??

No TV, just the PSVR. Basically output to the headset, and then play all your games in there, either in cinema mode or in VR.

And....maybe? Can't see why the secondary screen would be required for this to work (unless a game has a specific social screen experience of course)

I was kinda hoping for 399 with the camera and move 350 without. Still not terrible, definitely considering one if enough games and experiences come.

Seems like a decent value at that price for early adopters, I won't be one of them, i'm waiting to see where the PSVR's going over the years...

Looking like my decision to buy Move controllers back when they were a PS3 peripheral is paying off!

I remember talking to one of the guys showing off the PSVR at PAX and he said he was one of the guys who worked on the Move controllers. Told him I owned a pair and he literally didn't believe me.

Poor guy. If it makes him feel any better I now own 2 myself.

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
Hmm, what do I need to play No Man Sky and potentially Trackmania? $499. I'll jump in (pun intended) there.
