Giant Bomb Vive stream | What a Time to Be a Vive!

I am reading through the engadget review and they mention that the headset is heavier and not as comfortable as the Rift. Have the guys at GB talked about this? Have they mentioned about quality of the screens between the two? I am still at work and can't watch the stream until I get home much later.

I thought they said it was more comfortable than the rift.

They mentioned that the vive was a bit loose when they'd look down and could be tighter. When comparing, they mentioned that the screen door effect is practically the same on both. However, they said the vive was more clear when looking at certain parts of the screen where as the oculus had some blurry spots.

valve 15ft x 15ft demo booths coming back to bite them in the ass. If you don't need 15ft x 15ft, they need to start explaining that better.

I'm curious about Jeff's PC room now. I can't imagine he couldn't at least clear standing space?

All bullshit aside, Giant Bomb has been very fair in the stream. It's clear that this is a super hardcore, ultra niche package for the tech heads.

Can't wait for mine to arrive, and for VR to arrive for everyone else sometime next year, when its a lot more viable.

I just got to the part in the stream where jeff is moving the camera around in job simulator and this shit is really great.

Thanks.

Have they played any games that they played on the Rift as well and compared the two? I am really curious how an apples to apples comparison will be and which one they feel is better.

Jeff's PC room is tiny, he's shown some pictures of it.

That's a wrap! What a ride. 11 hours in total, same as the Oculus stream but more games were played in this stream. Great discussion at the end, archives will be up tomorrow on the site all clean and wrapped. All the games they played in chronological order are in the OP.

Man, that was a marathon. As fun as it must be to try that stuff out, I appreciate them doing so much OT and putting their bodies through that to deliver this stuff day one.

Game store pages specify whether games are sitting, standing, or room scale.

Once they're room scale, the onus is entirely up to the developer for what size they want to support. It's never been all or nothing.

They mentioned that the vive was a bit loose when they'd look down and could be tighter.

That moment was specifically in regards to how they themselves had it set. It could be tighter because it could actually be tighter, not it could if only they were able to.

If I get real crazy, I have a 12ft x 12ft room I could use as a dedicated VR room and have my PC in the room next door, run the break out box through the wall. For now I have a 12ft x 8ft area if I take out a chair in my computer room I'm going to use.

anyone watch it all with impressions on what to buy? they're all pricy atm, at least pricy in the sense of buying everything all at once

Besides the ones bundled with Vive (Fantastic contraption, Job Simulator, Tilt Brush, The Lab): Hover Junkers, Space Pirate Trainer, The Gallery, Audioshield, Cloudlands - VR Minigolf.

Really enjoyed the stream. Nice wrap-up at the end too. As I thought the hardware isn't the problem but the lack of AAA games is.

This tech desperately needs a few system seller. I was most impressed by the Google Tilt Brush app and surprisingly Job simulator.

Besides that's its seems pretty meh for the price you have to pay.

Can't wait to see PSVR this fall with hopefully more complete and fleshed out games.

After seeing both streams, even if Jeff felt about the same with them when talking about the experience, the vive stream just had way more positive energy to me.

This has tempered my expectations but the things I felt good about showed great (job simulator, hover junkers, budget cuts) and have me excited to get my hands on them myself

I have 0 VR experience and think that the vive looks like the best one to jump in with
