Are we discussing Emily Rodgers tweets here? She's just mentioned that there are over 4 Wii U titles (inclusive of Zelda) being ported to NX.

Charts, Burgers, and Dragon Ball...NOW it's a Neogaf thread.

Welp, there it is. Now the thread has entered the Dragon Ball power levels realm. Just chaos awaits from here.

Nintendo NEX is just the Gohan of Dragon Ball Super, everyone is hyped that it may have a big comeback.

Splatoon 1.5 HD remix

Super smash bros game of the year edition

Zelda U

Mario kart 8

I expect mk8 or smash to be some f2p experiment and preloaded on every system.

Judging from the tweets, Smash seems like the 2nd likely title. I would guess Xenoblade X is another, it would be an obvious title for the extra power of the NX.

I heard Zelda, Splatoon, Xenoblade X, Smash, Hyrule Warriors and Devil's Third. Kimishima personally requested that Devil's Third get ported to NX - he really likes it for some reason.

In reference to StreetsAhead here with his suggestions,

Smash
Pokken
Hyrule Warriors

One is a confirmed port, the other two she isn't sure of, and there are two others along with Zelda that are being ported.

Ugh, with that being the case I'm torn between just waiting for NX ports, or get them on Wii U now and accept the fact I won't be getting the NX at launch.

Until Zelda NX is announced to arrive day and date with the console

So the PS4 is a bit overpriced cuz you can get the same thing for cheaper with the McDouble?

Got it.

4 Wii U titles: Zelda U, Smash U, XCX and Super Mario Maker

Splatoon seems like a no brainer
Mario kart 8 easily
Smash 4 definetly
Ice Climbers and Wolf!
Mario Maker too

How would these ports operate? Would they be there at launch/first 6 months to help beef up the number of titles? Mario Kart 8, Smash and Splatoon all seem pretty 'definitive', I'm not sure how they could be improved?

Edit: Would we all rebuy Smash/Kart/Splatoon anyway?

Fix some issues with 8's balance and roster, throw in tournaments, actual battle stages, and mission mode.
Give smash NX ice climbers, Wolf, and all of the 3ds version's exclusive stuff
Splatoon...got nothin aside from playable octolings.

MarioMaker is the most likely port IMO after Smash. Splatoon would be another.

I really think the WiiU controller will be compatible and would keep MarioMarker viable. That's definitely a revenue stream title, as long as they keep releasing content for it. Would be a great title to come preloaded and be a flagship for the cross platform idea (if that turns out to be true).

I wouldn't rebuy Splatoon. MK8 seems like a waste to me.

I'd go with this. However, I think Splatoon makes it too. I just hope Nintendo announces more new games than remasters for the first year lol.

I dont think Mario Kart 8 is getting a remaster. 9 has to be underway and I just don't see any sense, but that's me.

The most logical ones to port are

A. Brand extension that they want to maintain interest and popularity for as multiplayer base is still active or still untapped market potential.

I.e. splatoon and hyrule warriors (on the back of Zelda u marketing blitz)

B. Games that will likely not get a sequel for several years after launch

Smash or mario kart

Yeah.

Smash was confirmed by Serkan Toto.
Zelda is confirmed by multiple people.

These next two guesses are based on the fact that they were either expensive to make and/or didn't sell enough like their predecessors.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Xenoblade Chronicles X

So those are my four.

Splatoon didn't take long to make and I can see Splatoon 2 being ready in 2017 or early 2018.

Mario Kart 9 is on track for 2017 so there's no reason to port over MK8.

Hyrule Warriors with all dlc might be a potential candidate.

Minecraft is a no brainer though but I think the Wii U games being mentioned are Wii U exclusives.

It would be interesting to see dktf and land 3d remasters be digital only and spearhead their new storefront.

As long as they launch with 2 new games/experiences, they are set for a holiday which would leave software to spread out the following half of 2017 which the desperately need for momentum.

Super Mario Maker DX is the easiest choice. Smash, Splatoon, and even Mario Kart 8 all make sense because they have a highly active online communities. For those that say that Mario Kart 9 or Splatoon 2 are on the way, I don't think that's anytime soon with the big games Nintendo has in full production right now. This new Zelda, that new Mario or 3D action title at Tokyo, and then Pikmin 4 and whatever concept mini-game title they have cooking, that alone wipes away all their 3D artists.

I don't see DKCTF coming over if they're doing SMM, which I believe is an ESSENTIAL game to have at launch. That game is one of the few Wii U games where you can say they didn't fuck it up, and probably went above and beyond what it was probably originally going to be.

XCX is something she's discussed, so probably a game she's talking about.

I can't see Splatoon being ported, and while it's extremely tempting for Nintendo to do so, it seems like a waste of resources to me, especially when a sequel 6-12 months down the line would serve them better in the long run.

Do you see them playing with any service or f2p like models coming up?

I feel like they have only dipped their toes so far and a console launch is the perfect time to play in that field by having it preinstalled.

Does SMM work without the gamepad though?
Not at all.

This is only my opinion, but I really think Splatoon could be shifted to a F2P model. I think a new Steel Diver game, in the vein of World Of Tanks or War Thunder, could be really popular.

Yeah the more I think about, assuming what she is saying is true, the 4 should be this:

Zelda- All but official
Smash- Heavily rumored
Xenoblade X- Big open world game that would benefit greatly from additional power. Could use additional sales and could do well as a launch window title.
Mario Maker- Full new game isn't really needed for a while, they can build off the existing game and add additional content through updates and DLC. Might actually be really good as a packin, especially if there is no traditional Mario available for launch or near launch.

I'd say MK9's closer than Spla2n at this point if they're still doing stuff for Splatoon.

- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- The Legend of Zelda U
- Pikmin 4

Those are the one, that I think, will go from Wii U to NX, most probable.

So, the 4th could be anything:

- Xenoblade Chronicles X
- Paper Mario U
- Super Mario Maker (Although, this one could either get a Super Mario Maker 2 or a Super Mario Maker Definitive Edition with Super Mario Bros. 2 skin, or something).

Splatoon should just get a sequel.

No one is going to do anything with DKCTF at most its going to a handheld

Why not? It's grid based. It'd be slower but not impractical.
Sorry, I thought they meant the WiiU game as it is right now.

Nintendo could probably make a decent alternate control scheme. Maybe even a Smartglass like setup with your phone or tablet.

Maybe Retro Studios or one of their contract studios are making that niche Nintendo franchise racer for launch. Before the Wii U, Nintendo always loved launching their consoles with a first-party racing game.

But I'm not confident Mario Kart 8 DX is an NX candidate, but I'm also saying that I don't think Mario Kart 9 has any shot of hitting before Spring 2018. Which is why these AAA Wii U ports make sense, because they sort of fill quick gaps and don't require large art teams - which is going to be a problem with the first-party games Nintendo has in full production already.

Hmm Zelda NX, Smash Bros NX, Hyrule Warriors definite edition, Pokken Expanded

I dont see Mario Kart since it would be fast to make and I think they will rather get Splatoon 2 out for NX

Actually I totally forgot about Mario maker but if the screen controller is supposed to be optional this time around, I don't see that game working well on nx (unless it comes bundled with a screen controller). That's why I choose DK. That game sold around 1M when Returns sold over 6M. Nintendo expected more and it would be a quick and simple game to port over at 1080p60 (it's already at 720p60).

Im sure they could work around that for those that don't have a gamepad or a handheld. MarioMaker is a tentpole game. Appeals to a wider audience, which they will want to try to do right away.

It could be the center piece of their smartphone second screen experience to replace the gamepad. Anyone buying an NX would likely have a smartphone.

Mario Kart 9 is due in 2017. No chance 8 is ported. Splatoon is unlikely since it's better served by a sequel. Zelda, Smash, Mario Maker, and Pokken make the most sense.

That would be surprising, Mario Karts have been releasing every 3 years like clockwork for a while now. I can't imagine there wouldn't be something ready in 2017.

FTFY. Since Capcom stopped doing Super versions of Street Fighter games, might as well have Bandai Namco & The Pokémon Company take up the torch.
