I'm assuming the one I got wrong was Xenoblade, SMM seems much more likely. Kind of a bummer, I would have really liked to see a remaster on XCX. I would guess the 4th game is Splatoon. Makes sense since it was a breakout hit.
I'd argue against a Splatoon port. Same reason as MK8, just make a sequel.

I wonder how they will do smash bros.. other than packing all the DLC characters together and throwing them on the cover what could they do?

Thats easy, blow peoples socks off with a huge graphical upgrade. It already ran at 1080p 60fps on Wii U, they can really make this game gorgeous on NX because they can focus all the power available on graphical effects rather than resolution. A gorgeous "next gen" Smash Bros game is the perfect thing to reveal at e3. Next just announce some new characters and all the DLC from the Wii U and handheld versions and you've got the ultimate Smash Bros game.

I don't expect much more unless Sakurai is involved.
Same.. I only see a port. I doubt that add any extra characters for some reason

I cant see them doing anything graphics wise either.. I mean it will be ballin but would they actually put the work in? I doubt they have higher quality assets, textures for this game laying around.

It's probably too much to ask, but I'd love a 1080p 60fps Zelda U. They'll probably stick to 30 like the last remasters.
Not sure what they can do with smash other than release a complete edition. It's already 1080p 60fps...Maybe new DLC characters?
I don't think they should do Mario Kart nor Splatoon. A sequel should be easy to make and wouldn't take as long as a smash release.
Bayonetta 2, XCX, and DKCTF are prime candidates for remasters, I'd think

Yep

Probably not likely, particularly considering it's an open world game. I'm sure the NX version has been under development for a while, so they'd have plenty of time to do visual upgrades as well.

NX will keep the Wii U software legacy alive. Wii U failed, but has some of Nintendo's best output in terms of software. Tons of people missed out on awesome games. Giving the games another chance on NX is a given. Honestly, Nintendo partnered with some great external teams to handle ports for 3DS/Wii U over the years.
Agreed. Really awesome games on hardware people didn't want to buy.
I think they could make it so their entire history could be playable on the console.
GCN and Wii emulation seems possible, maybe 3DS like DS was doable on Wii U and then just remaster Key Wii U titles. Great way to add value to the system

I guess I've been looking too much at MGSV Hoping it would be like the PS3 vs ps4

Well yes I agree, but unless I'm misunderstanding your post, Shikimaru Ninja has named the games correctly. The only ones he mentioned outside of SMM were MK8 and Splatoon. If I'm wrong on one, then it only leaves those two as an option doesn't it?

Good point, I forgot that MGSV is 60fps.

What's the update on the port rumors?

Mario Maker, Splatoon, and Smash all seem like communities Nintendo would want to keep going on NX. I personally am hoping Mario Maker is playable on the NX handheld somehow. Games like Xenoblade and Bayonetta 2 may be great, but I'm not sure how much market importance they have at the end of the day.

I also hope that maybe if you own some of these games on eShop Nintendo let's you carry your license over to the NX port.

I imagine the common thread for SMM, Splatoon and Smash are that they're seen as services that they can just build on instead of creating entirely new games and logic for, assuming it's true.

I'd still like to see a sequel for Splatoon first before they do that. OR at least they provide people with a new, extended campaign and Horde Mode.

Splatoon would benefit from them releasing a new game on NX. Build a bigger, better, and more expansive game. No reason releasing a Deluxe Edition of the first game, imo.

Agreed. Nintendo is probably willing to give Splatoon a much bigger budget now. I think they'd rather make it bigger and better rather than porting the first game.

I'd hoped Splantoon's big success would've opened Nintendo's eyes on the thirst for new concepts, new IP, but hearing they're porting WiiU games to NX worries me greatly. Nintendo's going to probably need to carry the platform on its own again and I recognise the need for a strong and diverse launch line-up, but I hope they'll give us WiiU owners something to get excited about, a reason to buy their new system, beyond promises of new games for 2017.

Why are people giving Emily credit for Paper Mario leak? Paper Mario Colour Splash was leaked in May 2015 at a career expo.

I would wager Splatoon is as important to Nintendo now as Smash or Mario Kart in terms of sales and brand. I agree that Splatoon 2 should be the focus with everything and kitchen sink thrown into its budget/development.

Maybe they have grand multitasking OS plans. The weak CPUS in Xbox One and PS4 is not the norm. They're the weakest CPU ever in a console relative to their gpus.

In order for NX to best Xbox one and PS4, they'll have to make an APU that's ~100W in TDP, >$350 in costs, and as big as a ps4.

And that's not counting whatever gimmicks Nintendo might add to differentiate themselves from the competition.

I agree, but how far is that out, theoretically? A year? two? They seem to keep bringing out more updates for it, despite it not really being advantageous to do so if you want a sequel that does the service thing like the original did.

Yeah, the problem with Splatoon is that they kept extending the free updates. They were supposed to be done with weapons adds, and yet they add another two rounds of weapons starting in April. Everything was free, so it doesn't have the Smash Bros. benefit of doing a complete edition with all DLC characters. Doing a Complete Edition for Splatoon NX would either have the same sets of weapons/maps (plus more features?) or the weapon sets would differ and it becomes haves vs have-nots.

What does doing two more rounds of updates to Splatoon telegraph, I wonder? It's weird. The developer team is clearly still looking at the game. Are they fast-tracking a sequel?

Can you imagine.
Its gonna turn into Nintendo's Destiny/Division watch. With actual fun multiplayer.. people are gonna be doing raids and shit for all kind of rare weapons, clothing drops. The hub is gonna have actual human players walking around and not just the stand ins. Shits gonna be good man :')

The new packs of retooled weapons are a bit odd to have right now. I believe it was a thank you gesture from the dev team after the Splatoon nationals.

But I suppose it could send a mixed message if there is a sequel at launch.

...I wonder if they could do this. Single player campaign with raids/loot and more social elements. The hub felt like the Destiny one (but not as poorly made as the destiny one)
Could be cool instead of just turf war and ranked battles.

Next Splatoon won't come out for 5 years.

Open world MMO Inkopolis. Splatfests will now be 100 v 100 matches taking place across the whole city.

Best of all there will now be a pants shop.

If support had ceased, I'd say Summer 2017 could be within reason. Realistically, a fresh Spla2oon release probably won't be until early 2018.

I'd rather not have Splatoon be an online only game. They need to expand the Campaign more before they do something like that.

The last thing I want from Splatoon 2 is a Destiny clone

Personally I just want new modes, playable Octolings, more customization like hairstyle, customization outside of the characters, like maybe a personal emblem for everyone. I want more community features like screenshots and small videos that can be shared, like in Halo. The devs can even choose the best image of the week, etc.

And I want single player to stay one player only, but expand on the Inkling culture/lifestyle. Have a whole Inkling city to explore with many cool NPCs

I'd rather Splatoon try to be more like Halo than Destiny. And, given how the first game plays, basically it being heavily based on Map control leads to victory, it's well on its' way. They just need to stop before it hits Reach, though.

If the rumors of Wii U ports are true, then I'm really worried about the launch lineup of the NX. I really hope it isn't full of Wii U ports and nothing else of significance, because we would just end up with the Wii U situation all over again. Plus, I'd rather not rebuy games that I already own.

The presence of ports does not exclude the presence of original games, though. The games are basically done. Bandai Namco could port Smash Bros. on their own and any number of contract studios could assist with Mario Maker and MK8.

I just 100%'d Smash Wii U a few weeks ago (As far as Challenges go, anyway) so as much as I love Smash to the point of it being my favorite gaming series, I wouldn't get it at launch if it was just a port of Smash Wii U with all the DLC.

However, thanks to the existence of the 3DS version, there's a lot of content they could add to a definitive remaster. The 3DS version has almost 30 exclusive stages; it also has its own challenges, trophies and Smash Run, which, for my money, is infinitely better than Smash Tour and would benefit. HDify all of that, make it so the DLC characters/franchises are more integrated in the game (giving them their own special moves, giving them their own Events and Challenges, give more music and trophies to the likes of Street Fighter and Final Fantasy), and voilá, you have a hell of a package, the ultimate version of Smash For.

Mind you, I firmly believe Sakurai's involved in this, as much of a vacation as he claims to have gotten, and wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he can't help adding extra bells and whistles like new stages or even characters. At the very least, Ice Climbers and Wolf I could see back on the game.

I think MK9 is too soon. MK8 came out when? 2013 right? I think 2018 is more likely.

If Emily Rogers 4 Wii U ports to NX is true, I think its Zelda U, Smash, Pikmin 4, and maybe Splatoon. I feel like Pikmin is very likely at this point, because the third one didn't sell all that great on the Wii U. NX would be the perfect reason to boost sales.

I'd be absolutely fine with a Smash 4 port is done, but it would have to include all the 3DS exclusive content. The stages are so many times better than the WiiU selection. I've deliberately haven't unlocked the Pac-man stage yet because of how absolutely terrible it is. Without the DLC stages the selection would've been outright terrible.

Mario Kart 8 came out in 2014, but DLC ended in 2015. It usually takes them three years to make a Mario Kart. Based on this, I'm expecting Mario Kart 9 in 2018.
