Those make sense as ports to me because they are unlikely to get a sequel in the next 2-3 years.

Nintendo needs a new mario kart asap, not a port of a 2 year old game. Mario kart is too much of a system seller.
I also expect a new animal crossing quite soon, which was originally planned for wii u.

Most likely, but that depends on if Sakurai ever came back or will come back from his vacation (& if so, when?).
Sakurai wouldn't let anyone add new characters without his supervision.. so I guess it is pretty unlikely that we'll get new characters... but who knows, they did so much DLC in just a few months.
I thought people speculated that the changes came after Sakurai attended some tournament in Japan because some of the specific techniques that were used in that tournament were nerfed. I would guess that meant he did something, unless he said to the team, "I'll be gone, but make sure people can't do what I saw anymore." (Once again, the details escape me, but I believe people were discussing the tournament in the patch thread.)
He saw Meta Knight Up-Air fuckery, Sheik fair and needle fuckery, and ZSS being ZSS (up-air, up-air, up-b)

Maybe you're referring to the Final DLC Exhibition from before Corrin & Bayonetta came out, where Meta Knight & Zero Suit Samus were prevalent. Keep in mind that Bandai Namco usually gives balance suggestions to Sakurai, who typically just signs off on the changes. With Sakurai supposedly on vacation, Bandai Namco doesn't have to go through any red tape for their balance updates.

Splatoon isn't getting a sequel that soon. Maybe the NX port will be a deluxe version but I think they want it established on the platform _at once_. If not the Splatoon player base will remain on the Wii U and the NX sequel will lose instant sales from the series core fans.

So.. Bandai Namco fixed Samus and buffed Zelda?? Based Bamco

I don't think it's really in case. We already know the information about Sakurai with how hand-on he's with Smash Bros franchise.

I didn't say anything. I'm just speculating. If he is involved, then yeah, I expect more than just a port with DLC. I feel like he made a big deal out of the last Direct being the end though, so who knows.

Yeah, he was very specific when he said 3DS and Wii U.

That's if Sakurai doesn't come back & didn't do enough work on any potential new characters to where Bandai Namco could easily finish the job without him. On top of that, that's also assuming that there weren't any characters that were mostly done on the Wii U but were left out due to the limitations of the 3DS version (Ex: Ice Climbers, but we don't know how far along they were on the Wii U version, just that they were working).

Splatoon as we know it took around a year to make, & major development of the game ended last January (the weapons we're getting now are just reskins of existing weapons with different sub weapons & specials). It's very likely that the Splatoon team moved major development to the sequel for a 2017 release on the NX Platform, which would be better for the franchise in the long-run. Plus there's another multiplayer game, Pokkén Tournament, which came out much more recently on the Wii U & would benefit more from an NX Platform port. This is especially the case considering how hard The Pokémon Company & Bandai Namco (more so the former) are pushing this game within the FGC.

I'm sure Sakurai would have brought Snake back if he could, so there may have been some fuckery involved with Konami.

It makes sense to have ports at launch, let's face it most console launches aren't exactly blessed with quantity of games.

But Nintendo definitely need new games as well as those ports to help it.

I can see Splatoon 2,SSB,Zelda and Pikmin 4 being at launch.I may be way off the mark though

Nah, Splatoon 2 is more of a 2017 title at the absolute earliest. And Pikmin 4 is most likely NX Platform-bound (since we already know every game that the Wii U is getting this year).

Ports at launch are especially fine for NX, I think, since so few people bought the Wii U versions. As long as they aren't the majority of what's on offer and the prices are reasonable.

Yeah thinking more about it,I think I'm being way to optimistic for Splatoon 2

Yeesh, I imagine in 15 years, people will still be asking for the return of Snake in Smash. Smash could no longer EXIST, with no hope of it ever returning, and I'm sure people would still ask for him to return to a series that no longer exists.

Remember what Capcom did with Monster Hunter at the 3DS. They announced the imminent port of the last one and the development of the sequel. Got people really invested in the 3DS as a MH platform.

Smash NX
Pikmin 4
DKTP

Zelda is quite obvious. Nintendo didnt show the game at E3 2015 because they want to promote it as a NX game and push their new system.

Smash is also rumoured to get ported but i dont think it will be a basic Wii U Port + DLC. Its not how Nintendo handles their big franchises. What audience would buy this game? Just the competitve scene and most likely people who had no Wii U or 3DS. A basic port would just limit their sales. Add the Inklings and suddenly a whole new audience will be interested in the game (japanese kids), add some more stuff like 4-5 new fighters, new stages, some single player stuff and even casual smash players will buy it again. This way they´ll sell far more copies and have a far bigger impact on their hardware sales.

I think Pikmin 4 is technically announced but we dont know about the plattform (I know about the rumours that theres just one unannounced game left which was Paper Mario). Pikmin is not a system seller and therefore it makes sense to release this game on Wii U and NX. Nintendo would maximize their sales and make Wii U owners happy.

The last one is difficult to predict. I dont think it´ll be Mario Kart 8 or Splatoon because they require far less effort compared to smash and should be ready til may 2018. Mario Maker is possible but i dont think the NX has Wii U-like gamepad. Xenoblade, FE and Bayonetta 2 are not huge sellers and make no sense IMO. Monster Games co-developed DKTF and ported to DKR to the 3ds. We dont know about their current project but im betting its DKTF.

Guess on the 4 Wii U titles:

Zelda
Smash
Splatoon
Super Mario Maker

Which are the games i already predicted they would port over, along with Color Splash.

I think Smash and Mario Maker are certs. Both are effectively long life games. The former as been suggested as such already by nintendo. I think.

Mario Kart and Splatoon could also be Long life games, the former more likely, Splatoon could do with a sequel to fully form some new ideas and flesh out the game a bit more.

Zelda may count as a new game/non port, so i think we might get two others beyond Smash and MM. Perhaps there are more as well.

Xenoblade launched at an awkward time, and i think the amount of money poured into it i think guarantees a port. It also has that breadth and scope , that next gen feel so to speak.

This may be asking for too much, but i wonder if Nintendo will offer one of those games for free upon launch for Wii U owners ( I guess NNIDs are tied to serial numbers on WII u's?) as a thanks for sticking with us. But that might be being way too optimistic.

Would be nice, but i don't think it would happen.
Maybe some cross-buy promo, like have the game on Wii U? Pay 10-20 bucks for the definitivve NX version

2018 to 2019.

MK8 just came out 2 years ago I just realized, and that's pretty mind blowing. I can't imagine them releasing it so soon, but releasing a MK game 3 years in NX would be strange too.
Look at Mario Kart's release schedule, there is a new one like clockwork about every 3 years.
DD 2003 -> DS 2005 -> Wii 2008 -> 7 2011 -> 8 2014

I think it will be their big holiday 2017 game.

I'm under the impression that Retro is one bad game away from closed because they don't like Retro, think they're overrated or it's just some legacy piece that doesn't fit with their vision of everything being done in Japan.
Yeah, makes sense considering that NST has done some legitimately questionable games, is still around and Takahashi's Monolith Soft will never make a profitable game again.

Oh wait, Nintendo loves to fund some vanity projects on the side.

Edit: Sorry for the double post.

It's possible, considering how they gave away a free game with Mario Kart 8. Depends on how they handle backwards compatibility I guess. (discount on the NX version if your already downloaded the original, something like that)

Going by that cy le first up is the portable version.

I doubt any title requiring game pad support will be one of the ports. So in my opinion, we can count Mario Maker out. I would guess: Zelda, Smash, Pikmin and as a massive surprise, the new 3d Mario title.

Just FYI, Xenoblade X has a medium budget. Despite what it seems, it's not an AAA game (actually, you can see where they had to cut corners to achieve other things, and Takahashi explained it himself).

But yeah, i'd love to see X in 1080p with better lighting, effects etc. It would look beyond glorious.

Nah, I don't think she will comment on new games.

I mean Is she willing to go that far ???

Maybe the knowledge that there is someone who could spill the beans will hurry Nintendo along a bit. Has Emily been known to keep things close to her chest in the past?
