He's holding a DS4, this is totally PS4 (or PS4K I guess), he'd only use a DS4 on PC if he was deliberately trying to fool PS4 owners that the PS4 version is better than it actually is, which seems unlikely since he seems to be a great guy
PS4K has no dev kits out. Please stop this nonsense
Also the ps4 for sure has the power to run this game

Can't wait for all the non believers to start eating their shoes after playing Uncharted4 and once this game comes out

Does it, though? I mean, it looks good, but does it look any better than something like The Witness, which is a flawless 60fps on PS4 (except for some slight tearing in a few locations)?

Holding a DS4 != PS4. I would think you would choose the best platform at which your game is currently running on to display the game. I see a controller, but not a PS4. Not trying to start anything so don't get offended. I'm no PC elitist.

~Shawn spoke much better than any video I've previously seen. The verbal mannerisms he used such as saying "like" every third or fourth word didn't happen. Don't think I heard it once, actually. It was pleasant to listen to.

He's getting better at talking about the game

He's getting better at being on camera

He's getting more smug

he's evolving

Best I can tell, it's the latter. Big changes (like wiping out a species, or decisions that you can apparently make on a solar system level) will stick. Local changes, like carving out a cave, will likely be gone a soon as you leave the area.

Only big changes like that will be uploaded to a server and synced to any other players who may visit later, yes. But they could store more changes than that locally on your system. The terrain is almost certainly generated as a 3D grid of points/voxels/blocks, like Minecraft, but then smoothed out to not look blocky, so all they'd have to store to remember the tunnel you dug is an x,y,z reference to each block you destroyed, and the next time you visit the terrain is simply generated from scratch again but with those blocks removed.

You'd think that, but there's also marketing deals to take into account, like when they do XBO versions of multiplatform games on Conan.

Can't watch the video at work.....is the draw distance any better? That's been by far the most noticeable thing to me about this game; I can't focus on anything other than pop in.

Edit: just watched. Yeah, it's still realllllllllly bad.

I said nothing about the relevance of the DS4. I just said that it's not unthinkable for a game looking like this to run at 60 on PS4.

More smug? I don't think that is very charitable. Consider the scope of the project, the time, the obstacles, and the fact that the finish line is so close. He is a satisfied man, for sure.

Even if he is smug, it's justifiable at this point.

It was a tongue & cheek jab. He definitely seems more confident on camera than he was even last year.

I hope it does run at 60fps on PS4. I have no qualms about the system. I really think I offended you by saying what I said, so I am sorry if I did. Let's move on and hope that we get a great game no matter what.

Damn, development is really taking its toll on Sean.

The game is incredible as always. Can't wait for june.

Climate looks strange for -163 °C, all that grass and trees.

"The brine culture in which they grow in the laboratory can remain in liquid form to minus 18 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 28 degrees Celsius), so the potential is there for significantly lower growth temperatures."

There are organisms on Earth that can survive below -28C, but they would need some sort of internal combustion to maintain a liquid metabolism of some sort, to transport nutrients through it's body, be it plant or animal life.

So, if you're talking about a different planet, in a different system, with a different sun and a different atmosphere and density, it's possible for life to exist and be active at even colder temps. (the reverse is true for extreme heat also)

The Amiga Brotherhood
Can't see any reason why this can't run at 60fps on PS4 visually unless the procedural stuff is taxing such that it needs to be capped to 30fps. Also looking at it visually not worth the AAA price tag that i'm certain of.

Yeah still a little unsure about the price of the game but I'm not going to even attempt to kid myself; I'll be there day one with bells on.

I'm only unsure of the price from a personal perspective just to be clear. It's obvious they've put in more than $60 worth of content. The more important question is whether you as an individual gamer find that wealth of content appealing

Have said plenty of times, am genuinely interested in this game, however I am definitely waiting for the reviews and then for the patches to come out. Am hoping the secret in the middle isn't anything like Molyneux and his curiosity cube bullshit.

the biggest enemy of this game is it's own hype, I fear

launch day is going to be a lot of people bitching at it for not being the game they assumed it would be, rather than the game it is :(

Are people aware that the closer you get to the center of the universe, the more the procedural generation algorithms start losing their shit?

You'll start encountering planets with anomalous gravity, landmasses (eg flying islands or hollow spheres or twisting planes) and animals - you can even get super fucked up animals like familiar shapes animated with spiders' movements and stuff.

There's a lot more to come...

I love that GPS to the center of the galaxy. That's the first new tidbit of info for me in this vid.

It's ambiguous whether this is the case or not.

I can't wait to see what kind of fucked up shit math will create.

this is true. all depends on the creatures general makeup. like most species here are made up of mainly water. could be a species made up of a totally different liquid that could withstand extreme temps like that like a methane based creature would have a way different makeup.

Game looks great. Incredible freedom and more than enough RPG/action elements to keep me occupied. Of course I cannot tell how long will this game keep me engaged, but I will most try it when its out.

I think the biggest enemy of the game isn't the hype, but rather precisely what you said the sentence following that. Tons of people projecting their own expectations about what they would want from a game with similar trappings, while simultaneously tuning out concrete information provided by the developers themselves, and ultimately being disappointed when it doesn't pan out. What'll be lost on them however is that it's not the game disappointing them, it's themselves.

Why did they choose red for space?

There's several different colors we've seen in space. Green, yellow, purple, etc.

One could take a guess that it is connected to the color of the local sun, maybe? Or maybe indicates the presence of certain resources? Or it could just be that it shifts depending on how the light is hitting it.

I legit tapped out over the rough graphics. The shadows are harsh, world is simple, and the ground seams are really visible.

I know demos aren't very popular any more but I really feel like I need one for this game, or I'm going to be waiting for sub-$20 pricing. Too risky at $60 or even $40 for me because I'm not terribly engaged by the gameplay they're showing in this vid.

Whats with this constant thinking that the ps4 can't handle this game?
/looks at battlefront and Uncharted

Uncharted isn't running at 60FPS, and Battlefront is a series of relatively small static arenas rather than a seamless interconnected universe of plaents with widely varying physics and simulation models.

I certainly hope it is 60 on PS4 though.

Yeah, exactly. It's going to be interesting to see how it actually pans out.

The bummer is the lack of multiplayer, or at least co-op.
I'd love to do co-op in this game.

co op would be an absolute gamechanger for me. It can basically make anything fun/more interesting. I hope they find a way to do it later but I doubt it. It's the same feeling I have about Elder Scrolls. Sure, skyrim is fun as fuck alone, but with a pal? I'd play forever.

That's a weak argument because whats stopping the gpu from computing physics?

I sometimes think people forget the the gpu can compute really crazy algorithms.
For instance folding

Haven't played Destiny, so I can't speak to the inspirations from there, but it seems like it has some inspiration from OUT THERE (http://store.steampowered.com/app/334420/) in terms of learning alien languages/standings.

Still hyped as ever for the game!

I'm guessing this is far from a final build. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like anytime pop-ins started showing up (which never bother me) Sean would turn and walk the opposite direction.

I'd imagine something similar with the grass shadows. With so much attention paid to everything else, it doesn't seem like something they'd miss. Final polishes and what not.

To the people that think this looks fun, why? Not being facetious here. I honestly don't see the appeal and desperately want to.

Don't see what's so hard to grasp. It's a game about exploration. Just losing yourself in a world that's never the same.
