By the way

The average weekly average drop from March

Code:
Weekly average

Xbox One March: 241,500 / 5 = 48,300
Xbox One April: 167,600 / 4 = 41,900

Drop = 13%

Code:
Weekly average

PS4 March: 330,100 / 5 = 66,020
PS4 April: 174,800 / 4 = 43,700

Drop = 34%

Code:
Weekly average

Wii U March: 66,200 / 5 = 13,240
Wii U April: 32,300 / 4 = 8,075

Drop = 39%

Is actually the industry average. Average this month is ~29%, and since 2010, the average equals ~30%.

Sony, since 2010, averages drops ~35% this month, which is almost exactly how it acted this month.

Nintendo, since 2010, usually drops ~30%, but Wii U sales will drop significantly from this point on, so going against that this month makes sense.

Xbox, since 2010, usually drops ~25%, and the Xbox One had a $50 price cut this month, so while it barely did shit, it still affected the weekly average from the norm.

My Lombax Ratchet and his defect Clank! Taking the two spot. Amazing. And MLB taking 3rd. The legs.

Congrats! Know you guys love seeing you're hard work payoff just as much as we loved blowing it up with over-the-top weapons in the game.

Sweet. Spot on with PS4/XB1 predictions. The pattern is obvious now, Gaf aggregate is always an overestimatimation.

No because nobody gives a shit outside of hardcore forum dwellers. this is why all these people that are supposedly moving to PC gaming are nothing more than statistical error. Their outrage means nothing in the face of potential sales.

Yep I am will to bet that a large majority of casual PS4 owners will not be angry in any way once PS4neo is eventually announced.

No. No no no no. NO. Can we stop this? It's April. This happens every April. PS4 sales are flat YoY. They haven't gone up or down.

I think it actually is because of neo rumors. It's $50 cheaper with a COD bundle. It should be a little bit up no?

But lets see what happens this month with U4.

Really good news for Ratchet and well made cartoony platformers/shooters. Ratchet deserved #1 really and the price was on point.

No comment on hardware from Sony and MS isn't great, even if a lot of the dollar decline is just hardware that is now cheaper to make and thus sells for a lower price. I'm reading here that sales are indeed flat YOY? Well that's something if true.

Wii U is going to have a really brutal year, barring June (Sonic & Mario, #FE...I know) and holiday (Skylanders, Paper Mario).

Thanks welfare for the numbers

You know what, the mods can delete this post if they want.

Thanks to a good source

PS4 - 175k
XB1 - 168k
WIU - 32k
360 - 13k
PS3 - 4k

Yay Ratchet!

It's great when the game does well, in spite of the movie *cough*

So hopefully we get a game sequel, with no energy spent on a movie sequel.

Wii U is irrelevant. It's done selling hardware, and there's not much selling all that much software. 3DS continues to be the relevant platform for Nintendo, and they'll be selling much more software there like they always do.

The consumer doesn't compare the price from last year, that's not how they think.

There isn't as much of a fervor to get one in April because May is when Uncharted comes out.

3ds in japan will actually be interesting software wise.

and NA to a lesser extent

I guess so. But usually pre purchases are made in preparation for a game and even the Uncharted 4 bundle hasn't been high on any charts. Even now at release.

The two point aren't exactly connected. The CoD bundles is charting well for this month, and Uncharted 4 stand-alone is charting very well at the same time. They didn't buy the CoD bundle last month, but they'll buy it this month with the release of a new game.

That's a closer line to draw between points.

I'd say the 3DS has a pretty damn solid line-up this year in NA as well, particularly for a fifth year (even if I don't expect too much hardware to move), if Bravely is any indication, I think we should expect decent numbers from the two upcoming DQs, MonHun has a lot of potential after MH4U, and, of course, Pokemon.

The small stuff like Kirby and so on as well.

The Wii U doesn't seem to be significantly down, at least compared to Nintendo's shipment projections. They're probably expecting a complete disaster over the Holidays.

Going by Amazon the COD bundle didn't exactly get any boost. In fact it's been unusually low for awhile. The Uncharted 4 bundle hasn't performed as well as Sony's other LE bundles which always reached the top ten.

I don't know, i'm pessimistic about this. My feelings about neo are already known though.

lol.

Ugh, looking at those numbers, April truly is a pretty slow month for hardware. May should be looking better for the PS4, though, and I expect the XB1 to be down YoY again.

There's a reason Neo is launching. If the hardware sales are drying up then so guess it's more comparable to what Nintendo does in the handheld space. Still not sure it will have the desired effect.

Bad month anyway for hardware.

That Microsoft PR is something else. Every time I think they have run out of new ways to spin things they go and surprise me.

Next month, number of button presses.

But it's flat YOY... I don't think anyone would say Sony had a bad year last year and Jan-Mar was up over last year... So I think we're jumping the gun on saying things are drying up...

I am sorry if someone already meantioned this within the last ~1.000 posts, but how exactly does MS measure "global engagement"?! Is this basically the same as MAU?

Furthermore, congrats to From and Insomniac. Good job!

Hardware-wise, this month was closer as expected, seems that the XBOX One's price cut had at least a minor effect. Yet QB couldn't benefit from it. Kinda disappointing performance, given all the fuzz around this game.

A bit of QB-nonsense from some posters in here, who probably haven't even touched the game.

TV, TV, TV... Remedy was always strong for live action stuff. I'm sure the show was a little dream come true for them.

etc.

yeah, it's just that having yokai 3, mh stories, and eventually dq11 (and to a lesser extent yokai spinoff, dqm3, etc)...would be like having destiny, the division, and battlefront as exclusives in NA lol.

it wasn't to discredit NA's lineup

Holy crap, man. I don't think #7 on the monthly NPD chart is a bomb. If it hadn't charted at all I could see the pessimism but really, it is not as if April is a huge month for game sales in the USA.

So The Order 1886 didn't bomb either since it charted?

Really, Order 1886 should be the perfect benchmark for QB.

If QB still pulls Alan Wake-esque numbers despite how Order did with significantly more negative critical and user reception... I mean, yikes.

It got bopped by a much cheaper (great) game in an established franchise on a larger install base that had a MOVIE release with it.

Come on now. Let's be realistic yeah?

"It's been great. Preorders are really strong; they're performing well ahead of plan," Greenberg said. "Retailers are continuing to increase their orders for the game, which we track and watch.

"Tomorrow [April 1], the reviews hit, so we'll see how they come in," he added. "We've been playing the game; we know it's a great game. Fingers crossed, but I think we're sitting on a mega hit."
lol.

The hardware sales are drying up because it's historically a slow month, and add to that the PS4 is too expensive. It ought to be $299 at most.

I don't really see anyone judging the quality of the game, just the sales and what it means to Microsoft.

Well, the lack of Sony PR implies that the PS4 is either down or flat YOY. Considering it sold less than the XB1 last April, the XB1 is down YOY if the former is true.

Right which is absolutely horrible for XB1 considering the promotions the brought to bear in April. Basically the demand for the XB1 is so low that a temporary price drop and a temporary trade in promotion in their strongest market WW were not able to boost sales to even match their sales from last April when there were no promotions. The implications of this and its reflection on the level of consumer demand for XB1 are dire.

May might be better for PS4 with UC4 and the GS promotion, but May is usually even lower than April. Therefore expect lower hardware this month, too, except for maybe PS4.
