Street Fighter V |OT40002| it's been a Guile, but Urien for a wait

is an air grab the same command as a normal throw?
Yup, you just do it while in the air.

Gief is currently the only one with an air Command Grab which is different from an air-throw in properties, I believe.

Only Nash,Guile,Vega and Chun have air throws which is done with the good ol' lp+lk and only Gief has an air command grab.

is there a trick to chaining commands where you have to hold a directional button first. like i'm trying to do the second of alex's trials, but i can't land the elbow slash command at the end because i have to hold back for too long.

The only trick is to hold down the direction as soon as you can.

For example, if I tried to do M.Bison's scissor kick from a forward jump then I would do it like this.

Jump forward and WHILE I'M IN THE AIR, start holding back. It won't affect my air attacks, it won't affect me if I do a move when I get to the ground and I'll have charged the move sufficiently for me to do it in the combo.

So just hold back as soon as you can.

fuck. i was even trying that. was hoping there was something else i was missing. i guess it's just getting used to the game's sense of timing. i appreciate the nuance but man, a lot of the combos are so difficult to pull off, almost unfairly so, especially compared to say mkx. tell me it gets easier.

When you learn the nuances, it does get easier.

If you think this is bad, you'd be breaking your stick/pad if you tried doing combos in SF4 lol. That shit was needlessly difficult at times.

Switching from one franchise to another takes a LOT of time to adjust as your muscle memory will be stuck to one.

I suggest you keep at it though as it's still relatively easy to learn compared to other fighting games.

You'll get the hang of charging with practice. I was always ass at charging up until SFV.

It's hard at first but it will eventually become easier and natural.
From my own personal experience, and for lack of a better term, there is a "desychronization" work to do at first between your eyes and hands.
By this I mean at first your hands unconsciously wait for your eyes to see things on screen before performing motions, and thus delay those motions.
A good exercise I used to do was trying to perform combos by only looking at my hands, without looking at the screen, you can even close your eyes, you'll realise you can perform motions far faster and sooner you think you could. It will give your hands a hint of the timing.

I'd pay for Dan. Real money and everything.
THEREAREDOZENSOFUS.gif
They'd need to actually make him semi-viable if they expect people to pay for him.

Hell, I'd gladly buy a season pass that includes him as well if that meant he was actually viable.

The lack of invincible backdashes does make playing a troll Dan a bit tougher.

You see, I do like Maximillian, but when he makes clickbait videos like "Pokken beats SFV!!!" on his channel without any hard data or facts that panders to the lowest common denominator that's when it grinds my gears. Pokken only beat SFV in the US (there is a whole other world) in RETAIL, not in total.

He also acts as if Street Fighter is the biggest fighting game franchise of all time. Wrong. It's not the biggest but is the most reputable and most popular amongst fighting game enthusiasts and anything that is related to Pokemon (which is a cult phenomenon) would easily beat out something which is very niche in comparison.

He acts and says whatever will get him the most views. Its hardly a mystery.

Last night was not my night. Lost sets against two silvers (costing me 200+ LP each time), kept doing well against super/ultra golds just to lose in 3rd round nail-biters every time, and input errors everywhere! I didn't go to bed until I got all my points back, which took til about 1:30am.

Whenever I have goals (win so many matches, get all my points back, play until I beat a certain character at a certain rank, show a Urien player that his shitty Aegis setups won't work on me, etc) is when I have my longest and most horrible nights playing. I think it's because I only set goals once I'm frustrated and wasn't playing well in the first place.

I hate fighting games.

Last time I played I was 4 points from gold, then I went on to lose every match after until I was about to rank down from Ultra Silver. Currently sitting at around 3500 points.

I was playing on tilt for like an hour, getting so frustrated and mad at myself. That's why I haven't played in a week. It's not even the points. It's just how I was playing that frustrated me so much. I've realized my problem, and am going to go back and watch my own matches to see what I can do to improve.

Maybe you'd be happier playing COD.

I really wanna play witcher 3 but the length scares me

You should give Witcher 3 a chance. I really love it. I'm having so much fun with it. It's a worthy time investment.

It took me a year to beat Witcher 3. Loved it, but open world games are hard for me to stay engaged in.

I want to buy the expansion, but with so much out there, not sure when I'll get around to playing it.

I haven't beat Witcher 3 yet. Lol it's so easy to get distracted in that game with side quests. I don't get obsessed with side quests but I do like helping Geralt's friends.

Yeah I'm quite frustrated at being stuck in the ultra-silver / gold loop.
- I'm in ultra-silver? The game mostly matches me to silver-level players who I beat most of the time.
- Now I got to gold? Now the game gives me more gold players, who beat me most of the time.
- Now I'm back down to in ultra-silver? The game mostly matches me to silver-level players who I beat most of the time.

And back to gold. And back to ultra-silver. And back to gold. Etc etc etc...

When I was going through a long ass quest line in Witcher 3,filled with impeccable writing dialogue, story and characters and found out that THAT WAS AN ENTIRELY OPTIONAL LINE OF SIDE-QUESTS is when I fell in love with the game and knew that this was something special.

I really began to enjoy Witcher 3 in Novigrad but I REALLY began to love the game in Skellige aka Game of Thrones Arc. Lol and yeah. Player choice and customization is such a rewarding feeling in games. Hopefully Street Fighter V's real story mode isn't a disaster and will have some sort of character development.

Let's not expect too much from the story mode lol. It's probably just going to be like a lot like MKX's story mode, which wouldn't be all that bad.

Just hope they don't add QTEs.

SFV's story will prolly come down to this:

Ryu: I gotta take down Necalli!!!

Nash: I gotta take down Bison!!!!

The End.

I will applaud the story mode if there's any sort of character development. If there isn't any character development then at least have amazing fight scenes.

Necalli will absorb Ryu's SATSUI NO HADO and then the whole shockwave from the Bison vs Nash fight will hit Necalli and blow him up.

Ryu will be saved by Rashid summoning a storm/Using his tornado powers to whisk them both away.

FANG will still be recovering from getting hit in the head by that Gameboy.

Chun Li will be whining about her dad somewhere.

Zangief and Mika will be doing Zangief and Mika things.

Vega will be sobbing with Balrog in a corner over their dead leader.

Urien will show up at the last second and rip off his suit for no reason.

Karin and Birdie finally go on a date.

Ken goes back to being a family Man.

Guile goes back to being a family Man

The END!

Tries to save the rest of the dolls, happens to show up right as the base is destroyed, saves them and goes home.

Hugs a cat on the way home.

Guile: Gotta kiss Nash!!
OH GOD NO!!

He's a married man, Family Men don't do that kind of thing.
Vega doesn't give a fuck about bison.
Probably got scarred by the explosion or some shit so he's actually crying over the loss of his beauty but Balrog thinks he's crying over M.Bison so he joins in in the beautiful sharing of emotions.

They should have included some sort of SF encyclopedia and shoved all these new character designs and back story info we're getting on the website into the actual game. I imagine these lore tidbits are going to be more interesting than watching Bison trying to take over the world with his Psycho Death Star thing or watching Ryu fight off the satsui no hadou for the twentieth time.

EXACTLY!!! That could've been a mode in SFV! Look at all these cool characters and lore!

.... Whoever is doing this is like they're trying to say, "Whoa, whoa! Remember her? SF has lore! BELIEVE ME!!! Next week we're gonna show Ryu's long lost dad!"

Capcom really should patch a gallery into the game that contains all of these character profiles. It shouldn't be difficult.
