PAL Charts - Week 22, 2016

Never laughed so much. Lol. Thank dude.

UK hates anime.
One Piece is really low.

I wasn't even interested. But then I hate fighting games. It's a complete bomb and it came out on Xbox this time too.

I still think Mirror's Edge will be number 1.... On the combined format chart.

Potentially. I mean the bar isn't high, but at the same time looking at the EA access impressions and the titles appeal in general, that isn't a sure thing either.

I can't remember if EA even advertised Garden Warfare 2 on tv or not. Please don't send Mirror's Edge out to die, EA.

Mirror's Edge is going to bomb

again

I really hope not, but I fear you may be right.

Game is so freakin' expensive here in the UK. I know newly released current-gen games are expensive in general, but Mirror's Edge I have not seen go under £38 on consoles. Even Uncharted 4 I managed to pre-order for £37 (although that was with a discount code enabled).

Expect this to keep happening. The £ is in the shitter with all the leave EU possibly happening and the cheaper guys like Simply and TGC can't buy European stock to keep prices down. Hopefully it quickly regains its value should we vote to remain.

Deus Ex is August 23rd, but the only bigish game before Deus Ex is No Man's Sky on the 10th of August. Then unless E3 brings us the goodies, it's barren again until Final Fantasy XV bar a World of Warcraft expansion.

I typed 23 but for some reason the number 3 didn't appear :p

[Week 34, 2011] DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION (SQUARE ENIX EUROPE) - 96,000 / NEW

Xbox 360 - 57,000
PlayStation - 31,000
PC - 8,000

[Week 10, 2004] DEUS EX: INVISIBLE WAR (EIDOS)
[Week 34, 2011] DEUS EX: INVISIBLE WAR (EIDOS) - 122,000 LTD

I can't see us leaving tbh, but now that you mention it, games have kept a higher price recently than usual

Damn Ratchet still has some really nice legs. Sony and Insomniac must be really happy with that

Battleborn? Battleborn? Where for art thou Battleborn?

While it might sound like hyperbole, I genuinely have never seen a game bomb so hard as Battleborn. A month from its release and not even in the top 40? Holy shit that's bad!

My bet is that Overwatch will be no.1 next week in combined chart.

[Week 21, 2016] OVERWATCH (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) 56,000 - 74,000
[Week 22, 2016] OVERWATCH (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) 26,000 - 34,000 (-54%)

If Overwatch has a modest drop (let's say around 30%) Mirror's Edge Catalyst will likely need to debut > 20,000 units.

Which is not impossible, no one talks about that game.

I also think it's not impossible at all.

A recent low profile EA title released without much fanfare like Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 sold around 25,000 units. Will Mirror's Edge Catalyst match that?

Since thre released was never out of TOP 10, last week was #7 and this week is #6 even with two new release, pretty impressive.

I really don't unless the game gets incredible reviews ahead of release. EA never made a huge effort to create any hype around the game when they announced it, then they are not doing any relevant marketing and word of mouth isn't exactly fantastic.

They didn't even bothered to get a playable demo (or call it a beta!!!) for anyone just to try to create some kind of buzz around the game.

It's so silly because they would never do it but somehow this treatment of the game creates the impression that EA never wanted to make a Mirror's Edge sequel but the video game enthusiasts always claimed for it, so they do it just to watch it fail again, so that anytime anyone mentions the name Mirror's Edge again they can just tell that person to fuck off. Most logical reason for this is that EA never gave it a big budget to minimize risk and was betting on the enthusiasts to create the hype and sell 2/3M copies.

The public announcement of over 7 million players suggests that it is performing to or above expectations.

It does sound nice, even though it's only P.R. smoke and mirrors.

If hypothetically six million units were sold, then that's pretty good for a new I.P. But then again, this is a major Blizzard/Activision release that was pieced together from a game that took a very long time to make and ultimately came to nothing. A lot of resources went into making Overwatch it seems, so I would think that expectations were high.

For comparison sake, Activision was touting player numbers for Destiny at approximately the same time that they were putting the CEO of Bungie's head on the chopping block.

Mirror's Edge will also get reviews in the 6-7's. From what I played, it's very repetitive and has cringe worthy story/dialogue. (some might like the latter)

Reviews are coming in 2 1/2 hours, I hope I am wrong though.

Yeah, I can't remember a single time DICE's writing has risen above god awful, so I'm not expecting a whole lot from Mirror's Edge Catalyst on that front and I'm sure it'll turn a lot of people off, sadly.

Personally, I'm just hoping it plays as well as the original and the open world isn't of the Ubisoft design.

The writing in the two Bad Company games was quite enjoyable. Really funny games and a nice change from the super serious military shooters. Of course DICE would go on to leave that tone behind for the series and make nothing but super serious military shooters.

Why people are saying Uncharted 4 has good legs?

I mean... as for now all seem "alright", nothing more. It continued to drop and drop every week after all, doesn't really matter if is first in a slow month like this.

Week 2: 78% drop
Week 3: 37% drop
Week 4: 27% drop

I don't see "amazing legs" at all...

It sold 197k first week.

It sold 197k first week.

I'm not saying those sales aren't impressive... they are.

I'm just debating the legs, aka how much is selling since launch. So far it's showing a normal hold... nothing more, imo.

When sales will stop to drop every week, we can talk about "amazing" legs.

Did we got these figures?

From Beyond3d

UK Hardware Figures

Year To Date Hardware sales (units)

PlayStation 4 - 207,907 units (+6.7%)
Xbox One (-15.8%)
Nintendo Wii U (-48.3%)

PlayStation 3 (-74.6%)
Xbox 360 (-87.2%)

Decline in Xbox One is quite steep. although the chart presence of Xbox One titles in Top 40 is quite reasonable and one dont see this impression from there.

Maybe, just maybe, it's exactly what others say when you bring up how many titles for a format are in the Top 40: A meaningless metric.

Considering it sold that much and its about to break 300k now its a good hold to me.
