I'm going to guess Aloy is a clone or cryo'd child from the old civilization who has access to (some of?)f their technology.
Also: Aloy diving towards her mech suit, or just another robot walking past?

Trailer was absolutely fantastic. Voice over was a notch down from the reveal trailer but still quite good.

That was a great trailer... love the story line and gave Aloy's some much needed background after the 2015 reveal.
I will say i'm not surprised this was moved to 2017... the marketing wasn't there to show it was releasing this year.
still... looking forward to playing this one. I hope this turns into another great franchise for Sony.

Does The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, and GT Sport not count for some reason? There's so many other games releasing during the holidays this year. Why would they launch more than 5 of their own retail games in that time period?

TLG and GT, plus "smaller" titles like Gravity rush 2, new Hotshot golf and bunch of digital only games.
Can't think of any publisher have more titles to release in the second half of 2016.
Like Mass Effect:Andromeda, and the Launch of the NX
edit: everyone is just going to buy the latest and greatest 3rd party shooters at Xmas. At least this move will give No Man's Sky and Tomb Raider some breathing space this holiday

NX will not impact this at all.
I'm good with this. Trailer didn't give me much of a good feeling regarding the story, but if it's bad hopefully it's tolerable and doesn't make it a chore to get through. And it's a long ways away so we'll see.
Might go for the LE for the artbook. Statue doesn't really interest me.

I think there's a physics bug on the hanging wires, interesting tile artefacts too.

How is the plot terrible?
The girl is an outcast in a post apocalyptic tribe, raised by a warrior of the elders. She seems to be on a continuous journey to find the purpose of her existence and the place of her birth.
PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

Yeahhhh that voice-over/dialogue was... not good. Not as bad as most JRPGs, but pretty bad.

That worries me also. I was hoping Aloy would be just a normal girl from her tribe with a particularly adventurous spirit, not an "outcast/chosen one" kind of character.

Doesn't make sense. The old civilization is clearly centuries old, look at those ruins.
But she's a child at some point. Cyborgs don't grow from children into adults. You still aren't making sense.
...And somehow that one makes even less sense than the rest. Wut
I hope the story doesn't end up being some cliche nonsense like Aloy is the lost daughter of some mother queen of technology from years past who was fell by a great evil and now Aloy needs to kill the evil and become the next Queen of robo dinos and reunite the tribes.
I hope they make a world where everything doesn't seem to revolve around Aloy. I hope Aloy isn't the god rpg protagonist. I hope the story is a bit grounded. After The Witcher 3, it's gonna be even harder to stomach rpgs that settle with mediocre writing and settle with filling up their sidequests with repetiotive, collectathon stuff.
In fact, my focus is now solely on the combat system. Hopefully the combat is very satisfying and there's loadse interesting, non-repetitive quests to utilize or sorts of tools and weapons. I don'+t even care about the story. I was excited when I heard people from New Vegas and The Witcher 3 were working on the game, but now this trailer thankfully broke my delusions and I've actually decided from now I care only about the gameplay, care none about the story.

It's hyperbole, the setup for this sounds more interesting then a lot of the AAA games out there, people are now just repeating it ad nauseam to go along with the vocal minority and because it's guerilla.

It really is a shame. For me a great game can be ruined by a dull/boring plot.

Personally think the plot is intriguing. Its an origin story plus a sci fi mystery adventure. Uncovering your own story as well as uncovering the story of the world. I'm down.

I play it every once in awhile on weekends without problems. On a weeknight..might be difficult.
Wish it had a larger community, I think the online is great.

Oh fuck you're right. It really does seem to be a kind of "chosen one/special one" plot. I was really hoping that Aloy was just highly motivated member of a tribe, maybe a bit ahead of the curve and wanted to find out what happened and then maybe went too far to turn back and has to see the whole thing through. Please don't conclude in Aloy being the brainchild of scientist that would bring prosperity to the world.
