Just read a rumor that God of War Next will be there. What does GAF think

If it is I'm hyped

It'll be there. Shinobi already confirmed it.

And how Half-Life relevant now? It is old as dirt too and the brand is dead.

I imagine it would very quickly rise up again, just thinking about closely associated Valve is with it, especially considering how often it goes on Sale on steam, i.e the front page of PC gaming.

I think in the PC realm HL3 would be huge. Of course. But I think as far as cultural impact FF7 remake means a lot more to alot more people.

I think most game have at least heard of FF7 and no doubt they've heard of this remake and are interested.

FF7 was a game that fans requested remakes for since the PS2/PS3. Probably the most requested remake lol. FF7 for a lot of people was their first RPG and it's the favorite of many. While I have no doubts HL would be huge I just feel for FF7. That game and the remake just as a more cultural impact on gaming.

This is all kinda silly cause obviously HL3 won't be announced lol, but from a cultural impact on gaming, with Hl2 you don't get Source and all it's various physics and other technical benefits. Without Source you don't get the Orange box, which means no TF2, Portal, Dota 2, or CSS/CSGO. PC games and developers often make the breakout games of generations (minecraft, even Overwatch). There really isn't much of a doubt in my mind HL3 would be bigger news/more impactful.

So the question is will Neo be revealed in the beginning of the conference and then have the games taking advantage of Neo be only what is shown, like the next GOW game ?

Neo is the kind of thing that deserves at least an hour of stage time so I don't think it'll be there

So what if Half-Life 2 sold more? A new GTA would be a bigger megaton than FF VII Remake then? NO! Final Fantasy VII is a project that people wanted since the infamous tech demo from 2005. Half life 3 is just the inevitable sequence of the franchise, yes, I know it reached a meme status but that's because Valve fucked up confirming Episode 3 and never releasing it.

Neo can't be at E3 unless they announce a price drop for the current PS4 with immediate effect and/or if Neo is ready to be released at the end of June.
Both things are really unlikely atm so announcing Neo at E3 would have no purpose but to hurt PS4 sales until September.
It's not happening for the sake of having an E3 announcement just like the PS3 Slim was announced at Gamescom and not E3 2009 notwithstanding the fact that even the external case was leaked :D

Sony probably already has a canned PR response in regards to Neo if they don't reveal Neo. Wouldn't worry too much about that.

Unfortunately I think Agent is dead

I mean when you think about Agent was announced in 2009, which is essentially when GTA V started development. Rockstar North wouldn't have been able to work on Agent in earnest until after GTA V launched on PS3 / 360. Who knows maybe they restarted development around 2013 / 2014 moving people over to develop for it after V came out on PS4 / XB1 / PC?

Any way you slice it, if Agent really was supposed to be a game that Rockstar North specifically was going to make they haven't had the time to develop it. Seems like back in 2009 they made the very smart choice to start developing V so it would make it out on PS3 / 360 before the install base started to dwindle.

(Not to mention Agent was clearly shown off way too early, I doubt it was even out of the conceptual stage, Sony, understandably, wanted Rockstar on there E3 stage and all they had was a logo.)

Anyway that's what I keep telling myself. #Believe

It'd be great if Sony dropped the ps4 price at E3 as a stealth move for Neo (while not showing it). A lot of talk about cratering sales if Neo is announced and doesn't release quickly. If that's true what about Xbox slim? If they announce and it isn't released for a few months what happens to their sales?

Btw - I really want to see new hardware.

HL3 would be a bigger deal to me because Half-Life 2 was a better game than FF7.

FF7 was a solid JRPG that happened to hit exactly at the right time, but I always felt it was pretty uneven. Parts of it looked terrible even at the time, the dialogue sucked and it has pacing issues like almost every JRPG.

they couldn't just announce an immediate Slim release at a lower price model (or just a OG PS4 price drop) and that Neo is coming out in Q4?

they could benefit from the temporary good will of the price cut, and still capture the sales of the Neo supporters. yes, that means they'd be selling PS4's at $100 less from next week till Neo releases, but a small price to pay to make sure they handle the launch delicately considering how disgruntled so many people seem about the idea of Neo.

E3 would be a great place to reinforce their "we're for the gamers" mantra.

Good point. Any thoughts on possible Uc4 dlc being shown?
Doubt it. They just recently finalized what they were going to do, and seeing as they're also working on bringing co-op in soon (which may require some of the people who typically work on the SP portion to work on it), I doubt they have much work done on the dlc

Basing things off the timing of the last of us dlc, I don't think we're going to get a reveal before PSX.

Maybe multiplayer stuff its too early for single player dlc. Druckman watches neogaf he knows if he announces single player dlc now the tin foil hat theorist will pop up

Shame, though I suspect they'd talk about it's success in general?

I never played FF7 when it first came out, but I tried to go back and play it recently and I just couldnt get into it. I think Half-Life is a better game, i just think FF is a bigger franchise.

I wonder if they'll talk about dates and location of this year's PSX. Selfish as it is, I hope they repeat in SF again because the layout at Moscone was killer.

ughhh nooooooo

i remember a e3 where they used sackboy to show the company numbers for fucking 30 minutes

plz nevermore

I mean in more of a TLoU sort of way like they did a couple years ago (2013 I think?). I don't think UC4 has had nearly the same reception, but it wouldn't surprise me. Not that exciting though lol.

E3 would be a great place to reinforce their "we're for the gamers" mantra.

And why would you want to reduce the impact of a PS4 price cut announcing that the price cut is motivated by the fact that something better is coming? Just maximize your sales by making people buy the discounted PS4 thinking it's an amazing deal.
Besides I don't think they have a PS4 Slim in the works because there is no rumor about it and no mention about plans to shrink the current APU to 14nm, indeed I think it's likely that the Neo IS the PS4 Slim and is supposed to totally replace the current PS4 at some point.
That would be much better for them for a number of reasons (including not having to invest on cutting manufacturing costs on two different products in parallel for the future, focusing production on a single model without having to deal with possible shortages due to wrong demand forecasts for each model).
The logic strategy for Sony is this:
1)Announce a price drop for the current PS4 and the Neo together when Neo is about to be released if they want to keep a dual model strategy.
2)If as I think Neo is the Slim bound to replace the current PS4 we might be looking at a current PS4 price drop before Neo is announced to clear inventory, then Neo is announced and it replaces the PS4 at current price just to be discounted with the holiday season deals similarly to last year.

I don't think that announcing things at E3 makes any sense unless they have a product ready to be released soon.
Microsoft might have the Xbox Slim launching soon.

Doubt they'll ever go that deep into sales details ever again. They haven't done that for a few years and seem to understand that that stuff doesn't work at conferences. At most I expect them to say something along the lines of "last month millions of playstation 4 owners got to experience/enjoy Uncharted 4" and be done with it.

Guys I'm sure Sony will have some sort of sales talk but lets not act like they've been bad about it the past few years.

Since the PS4 it seems Sony has gotten it right when it comes to E3. I doubt we'll have sales talk that lasts more than a few minutes, Wonderbook or anything of the sort.

They know E3 is their time to really dominate the spotlight
