Now what does have me just a tiny bit worried is this:

I'm hoping that he is saying that the majority of standard PS4 games will take advantage of the Neo's extra power by the word "support" and not that some standard PS4 games won't work on Neo. Hopefully I am just being paranoid, but the way that is worded is not 100% clear. I certainly have no intention of keeping a PS4 once I get a Neo. Maybe he just means that some titles won't be patched to take advantage of the power. Surely, that must be what he means, right?

Good on Sony for doing this. Press would no doubt ask them about it all during E3. This eliminates that and we all know it exists which means they can focus on their E3.

Huh? MS reveals Scorpio. Let's say Sony didn't reveal this news and didn't show NEO at their conference. All questions would be about if they are working on new hardware.

House just have everyone at Sony the PR line to use. "It exists, it'll be there to compliment the ps4 and we aren't revealing a date or price yet"

Yes, it would be monumentally stupid for standard ps4 games to not work on the Neo.

Must admit, this one is completely out of left field. Was almost certainly expecting them to show it, which makes me suspect this is a play at strategy designed to combat anything Microsoft might announce or show about their new console.

And I wonder are they somehow attempting to match the new Xbox spec wise, or are they aiming for the specs we already know about and simply wish to avoid a direct comparison with any new xbox. Maybe they'll end up doing a more exclusive event dedicated to their new system where they get to avoid any more high profile, E3 type comparison or the fighting for attention that would occur if they were somehow both revealed this E3.

Those are great numbers, my original point was that waiting doesn't make a ton of business sense for Sony. Also *most* gamers are unaware of impending new console, perhaps this press release will change that.

It has nothing to do with scorpio, dev kits are already out there. Why would sony care about scorpio?
