God of War details, in-depth RPG systems, No load screens, plus more

Hmmm can't say I'm convinced by it yet. Really wish they gone with a new IP instead and kept Kratos out of it. Hopefully we get more gameplay soon but the changes just don't seem or feel right with what they've done with the series.

They were working on a New IP and it got cancelled by Sony. Those Devs need to eat and another GOW was a safe bet.

Since the kid speaks the language of the land, who wants to place bets on the kid being Kratos' wingman and helping him get laid during the sex mini games as he watches from the sidelines - his dad pounding a goddess and telling him, "WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY, YOU EAT!"

Okay, I'm sorry. Pls don't ban me.
I'm trying so hard not to wake my girlfriend up with my laughter. Lmao!

Everything looks and sounds great. This is the type of change GOW needs to survive as a franchise .

Also wow at some people. I'm all for discussing a game we know little about, but some people here seem to be convinced they have figured out the whole plot, Pacing and combat only based on this 10 min intro

This really feels like Naughty Dog rebooted God Of War. With no cinematics it looks like most of the story will be told through walking segments.

Don't quote me on this but I think I that by no cinematics they are referring to no pre rendered and CGI stuff. There clearly are cutacenea right there in the gameplay reveal, but they are in real-time and with a seamless transition.

This is the change the franchise needed.

6 games with the original formula was enough. We got 6 excellent games so I am happy to see change.

Im assuming he was an absent father. Probably hooked up with some goddess or demi-godess in his travels and she decided to drop the news on him on her death bed.

I do wonder how much time has past since GOW 3. Im going to guess a really really long time and Kratos ages super slow or some shit.

Yeah thats more than likely what happened.

This team was always doing God of War 4 though, the new IP was another team. They were in development together, which is a better thing. It is like naughty dog did, one risk and one certainty.

Ah I see it now thinks, how creepy they just watch.
Is this what you guys are looking at?

This is awesome quote from that IGN link :

Dear god, this is sounding more and more like another game where story is taking priority over gameplay. When first seeing the game I was hyped as fuck but these new details sound awful. I don't understand why a studio like SSM is going all in on story, at the very least it sounds like we will have much fewer big fights compared to the previous GOW games. This should be a game where combat takes priority, as should be all games really.

Like I said before, Barlog is great but this story talk making me nervous, also it's very obvious Kratos dying this game or going to a residential care home and his Kid gonna be some well known mythical god since they don't wanna say what his name is. Definitely see the kid being the main character in future games.

One things for sure , SSM still well above GG and ND when it comes to tech so some things never change. PD look to have put in some work as well lately so the big tech giants Sony have showing their class.

This seems as good a way as any to continue the series. I wanted a new character because Kratos was getting one-note and stale. This is probably as close to that we could have gotten

Really liked that interview with PlayStation Live. It was fun to hear Cory Barlog talk about the game. It further sold me on this new concept. I'm excited to see how they will implement some of the other gameplay types in this new format. I also loved all these little teases of stuff to come with the dragon and other things you see.

My first reaction to the stage demo was much the game mechanics reminded me of Horizon (which I guess you could say, in turn, has some mechanics reminiscent of TLOU) and I was not really sold on how the new camera angle would accommodate the type of action GoW usually delves into. But I do like the idea of the presentation basically being a third person Half-LIfe - you move the character along from start to finish. The God of War games have always had really excellent, contiguous environment design, so ditching the huge cinematic sequences that move you across the game world is something that they are definitely capable of pulling off. Ascension was too much of the same, so along with the mythology change, this all sounds like a good idea to me. And God of War II is still my favorite game in the series, so I give Barlog a lot of benefit of the doubt.

I remember emailing David Jaffe for the demo of the first God of War game (still have it!), so I have been a long time fan of this series. These changes are very much welcome and refreshing.

Some people here are too quick to jump to conclusions, and false assumptions. I'd say wait until next year and give the development team a chance to realize their vision. Everything that Cory has discussed seems promising. Good luck SSM!

Tbh I was fine with GoW the way it was, fixed camera with dodge mechanic and crazy spectacle, but then I said the same about RE when I saw RE4 for the first time.

Did they mention anything about the camera system changing during boss fights or anything?

it's nice that we have confirmation that there will be puzzles. but I wonder if they ditch platforming. Kratos didn't look like he can jump anymore.
