That's interesting, according to the live stream, Marvel actually went to Sony and stated they wanted them to create a game that they wanted Sony to treat as a first party game.

EDIT:
That's according to Scott Rohde and Adam Boyes. Marvel didn't ask them for a Spider-Man game, they went and asked for a Marvel game.
Wow.

I'd expect Marvel will go to Sony again given the response Spider-Man has received. Companies know each other well, and Marvel has to be pleased. Would love to see a Captain America game as well, or the Avengers in a perfect world

I want a brutal Wolverine game that plays like GoW 1-3, even if it seems a little safe.

But ultimate alliance was my jam. With Civil War 2 happening in the comics, I wonder if they'll return to that in a new UA title...

Wow that's crazy. Marvel is about to hit the gaming industry hard. I wonder if they are asking Microsoft, and Nin... nah, uh who else could they ask, I suppose EA, UBI, and so on too then. Interesting information.

Lego batman Lego marvel

Telltale Marvel Telltale Batman

Pretty sure they can do whatever they want.
Telltale is a neutral party, & the Lego games are the exception due to the Lego license.

Well damn, I guess they are opening up to more developers.

Yeah I doubt WB would want their star comic game developer to make a awesome game for the competition. If anything they would be working on another DC Comics game.

Marvel knows well that Sony first party studios are unmatched in this business.

Exactly. Lego aside, why aid the enemy when you have your own stable of comics to work with? It's the reason why I don't expect NRS to touch Marvel, they already have DC available to them.

*looks at Nintendo EPD*

Though to be fair, Nintendo's at a crossroads with their hardware right now.

As an Xbox one owner I'm really salty this game is an exclusive, but that's probably the point considering a PS4 was already on my purchase list but will bow be pushed up to this Christmas.

Wow. Should be thread worthy

Though if anything, given Sony's relationship with Capcom & now Marvel, maybe they could be the middle-man to get MvC4 going once the Spider-Man game hype goes into full swing (pun not intended). Sony puts in a good word for Capcom, helps Capcom foot the licensing bill, & bam, Mahvel 4. Sony could also help Capcom fight against the stupid ban, but I doubt Marvel's gonna budge on that anytime soon.

Wow. Should be thread worthy
I'd put it in the Marvel's new mandate thread.

So, did Marvel go to Sony? Or did Sony go to Marvel?

Link on Scott and Adam?

I don't have any special interest in the world of superheroes (neither movies, games, series, comics,...) but that trailer was awesome. It was very nicely made, to the point and very good looking and sounding. I already watched it quite a few times. Also, this game seems to have a lot of potential and is backed by a good and clearly very enthusiastic and motivated developer. In short, this looks very promising indeed and it certainly made a good first impression.

I would love to see Cloak and Dagger make an appearance in this, though I'm not sure where they would fit in all of the licensing weirdness. Their presence in the recent Mr. Negative story arc makes me slightly hopeful at least.

Need some Black Cat as well.

Sony went to Marvel.

Huh. That's kind of weird, because the way Marvel talked about their games made it sound more like they'd be the ones going out of the way and looking for the perfect developers to make great games out of their franchises. Still, pretty damn cool.

Dont forget Sony still has the movie licensing.

I think a big part of this is how it ties into giving the character back to the MCU and working with Marvel directly on the singular Spiderman movies going forward.

Timing and needs aligning just right and everyone winning and all.

Pretty obivious that this is no PR talk since there is totally no business relation between other departments of these companies.

You're forgetting Sony Pictures and Marvel-Disney and Spiderman as a movie IP.

Disney also is getting out of the game development and publishing buissiness (RIP Disney Infinity).

Read what I said, it was whenever I said that it happened. The same time that they mentioned the "Popcorn" codename that somebody else posted about.

I didn't make a note of times, why would I?

Is it before or after Nier?
Sorry for the trouble, having hard time finding it.

Nerve mind, found it, thanks.

Scratch that, I misread the quote.

I think it's a six hour show, As I keep sayng. I don't know the order. They were only on it for about five minutes and I think it was Shawn Layden who was on it before them.

I'm super hyped for this. that Spiderman movement was spot on. I do wish they went with Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker, but I get it, they want to tie into the movies. Regardless, I'm ready!

This isn't a movie tie-in, but Peter Parker is the main Spider-Man. It's like doing your first big Batman game without Bruce Wayne.

It isn't a move tie-in, thankfully.

I just mean because of the movies have Peter Parker they're gonna make sure it's tied to that. Even if it's not some direct tie in, they'll keep it close so they can sell it on the fact that there are movies out there. So hence why it's easy to make sure it's Peter Parker. It's typical of what the movies do to the comics, the movie elements tend to bleed into the comics over time because they want to draw in movie fans.

So has anyone asked them or have they said anything about the swinging, it was a bit hard to tell in the trailer. His webs definitely seemed to stick to buildings as he was swinging, but will it have the depth that SM2 had?

Maybe the PS4 Neo will use the Spider-Man font. People would love that.

You mean like they did with the Playstation 3?

I love the cinematography and camera angles used in this trailer, seriously better than the films

I am assuming more depth if Sunset is anything to go by for traversal.

Insomniac is at the helm. No worries :)
