I do like the idea of a female Cid. Cidney is embarrassing, though.

Although she's really no worse than Tifa design wise, her portrayal and personality aren't exactly saving graces.

Tifa was actually hot though, and had the depth of character and competence of battle to complement her status in the game as female heroine alongside Aerith.

CIdney feels like they just designed a female character model, and then made a very impractical outfit for fan service just as a mechanical device to fix the car and then made a whole bunch of pervy DLC and extra content for zooming in on her in creepy angles.

That's just 1 miss of a trailer out of lots of great trailers (pretty much all FFVsXIII trailers, FFXV E3 2013 trailer, TGS 2014 trailer, the January 2016 enemy base trailer & Uncovered trailers were all more or less good or even great). The only other bad trailer FFVsXIII/XV has ever had was the Dawn trailer(s) (though even those weren't completely horrible, just really uneventful at a time when we wanted a more meaty one). Even then the E3 trailer was really good except for the music. Pretty sure we can be certain they won't repeat that kind of thing nearing launch, but will push Yoko Shimomura & the theme song more (probably another combo trailer of starting with Shimomura's epic tunes and then ending with Stand By Me)

Game looks good. I wasn't sure I was going to pick up another Final Fantasy game, but I played that demo some months back, and it was a lot of fun. Really intrigued about playing a Final Fantasy with a more modern day Earth aesthetic.

I don't know when I'm going to get this, because my gaming budget is going to be fucking STREEEETCHED this fall. The Last Guardian, World of Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest Builders for my wife is pushing it.

Personally for me I'm just skipping all the story trailers and watch the more gameplay-focused ones for the fun of it.

That's not true. The general consumer will only be hyped for this game close to the release date anyway so this is the time to market towards them.

They've also made it clear she's not an important character either. She's just this game's "Chocolina". She's more of a mascot than a person. It's unfortunate, but as long as there are other well developed female characters, which there seem to be, I don't mind.

The existence of a mascot character doesn't bother me at all. She's just one of many characters in the game.

Of all FFXV characters, Cidney could REALLY use some outfit redesign to make her less embarrassing. At it is, my eyes roll hard every time I see her, and her overly energetic, bubbly teehee personality gives me the Vanille flashback which is just pure trainwreck.

I'm in the change Cidneys design camp. It's far too late now tho I would imagine.

Also, my 15 year cousin asked me to show her the Duscae demo today and I made sure to skip the Cidney cutscenes. She's never played FF before so I wouldn't want that to be one of her first exposures to it.

Something like this is much more aesthetically appealing and suits her roll as a mechanic.
