Huh. Neat. Be lying if I said I wasn't a tiny bit disappointed that it's no longer only on PlayStation, but that's just me being dumb, greedy, and selfish. The more people that get to play it, the better.

The significantly increased revenue also increases the likelihood of a sequel. Many publishers are showing equivalent, or higher, revenue from PC than any individual console in their quarterly reports. It's definitely a viable method to substantially raise revenue.

The more people that get to play it, the better. Shame that this means it'll probably get pirated a lot, though...

Piracy doesn't negatively impact sales in a measurable manner. By and large it's people who cannot afford the game and aren't consumers anyways.
Think about a country that is financially struggling, or even in the US where there is immense wealth gaps.

It's good those PC gamers that spent all their pocket money building a PC get to play this now, once a sale hits.

That sounds like a non-salty, clever comment here sir.

It's crazy that in 2016, we get such lame comments.

Nice, definitely hoped but didn't expected this.
Releasing 3rd party (japanese) games on PC and PS4, that's awesome!

Game will be preserved, improved with mods and better hardware and of course saved.

Also please don't be a dick because a game get's out on pc.

I mean, there is literally no negative thing about a game getting out on pc.

You haven't even mentioned the worse of it: This will clearly cost Platinum time and money to port (the high standard Japanese devs put on themselves when it comes to PC ports is well known, after all) and probably mean they have less time to give the console version the polish it really needs. And all of it for a bunch of pirates. Outrageous!

You sound upset, don't be upset, more people will get to experience the beauty of Nier.

And some of us that would play it anyway will be able to get a most likely better version. And most importantly, a backwards compatible version. Look at the amount of people begging for a remaster, myself included, so they can play it, or replay it, before Automata.

I still have my PS3, and I love it, but the lack of a digital release make it really hard for me to grab a copy. I first played it on 360, and I no longer own one.

Some people are salty as FUCK that a mutliplatform game series like Nier is still, you guessed it, multiplatform.

Seriously, you could fill a salt factory with some of these replies.

Get the frick over it, Yoko needs all the sales he can get for this game, especially with the Platinum curse. You've got a Yoko niche game and a Platinum curse, you need PC sales to offset that, simple.

I never understood the annoyance of people.

If they're true fans of a game, do they not want it to be on the platform that objectively has the longest life?

In 50 years, you might not be able to play this game anymore if it stayed on the PS4, with the PC, you have a bigger chance.

Secondary judge here, agreed. I'd award a bonus point for the reaction images and emoticons generated though.

People are not fans of games, they are fans of companies and emotional investment in corporate marketing, and slavishly devoting themselves to the contribution of everlasting free PR for whichever side they have pledged allegiance.

As for your second point, i still have my PS1 after 20 years plus all my games, so i damn well will be playing Nier Automata in 50 years if i'm still alive at that point xD

It's an emotional reaction from people that put their own self worth behind a company.

It doesn't make sense from a logical standpoint.

I just got a Framemeister and I'm playing Symphony of the Night right now.

i'll never truly understand people that get upset when a game comes to another platform. Millions of other folks - that for one reason or another do not have a PS4 - will now have the ability to enjoy this. What's wrong with that?

Does this make my PS4 less useful than I initially thought it would be? Absolutely.

Is that at all a bad thing in light of the benefits of a PC release? lol are you joking

Maybe we one day can arrive at a point where the PC release not only is released day and date, but also announced with the rest. Baby steps, Square Enix.

Happy that this is coming to more platforms, of course. It should do well on Steam.

Fantastic! Everyone buy it, so there are lots of NieR sequels, and we never have to get off Taro's crazy train. (I wish Square would port the original so more people would have a chance to play it. It needs more love.)

What do you do about disc rot? I've been wanting to rebuy a PSone but I'm afraid of my library just decaying right under my nose.

I mean, if someone only owns a PS4 console, what difference is it that another platform, especially PC which is kind of cut off somewhat from console gaming, gets the game?

Its like, i have my console i bought at launch plus all these games, i'm enjoying them fine, but this game that was never confirmed to be exclusive to the platform i own in the first place is going to PC, how dare they do such a thing? My ps4 is useless because i..still..can play the game just as i was going to before hand?

Like what is the emotional reaction about?

This isn't even about first party games or second party like MS with their PC initiative, in which i would atleast somewhat be understanding, this is about third party titles that deserve all the sales they can get and were never even promised to be on PS4 only.

Disc...rot? I've never heard of such a thing. I keep my games in a nice little CD case and they seem to be fine.

Infact i'm playing Evil Zone right now which i bought in 01

Sweet. Hope it arrives after I build my PC next year because I don't think I can wait.

Console wars never end. It's not like they announced a Wii U port where at least you might be bothered that they'll scale the game down in order to run it well.

It happens over time my friend's copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga was starting to rot and he only noticed after watching me play his copy and starting to see freezes. It's sad since there is no re-release of that game and is rare and expensive.

My guess is oxidation from years of exposure.

Somebody just hacked the Saturn's DRM and was able to create a mod chip.

I cant say for other people, but everytime a game goes to pc I get buyers remorse since my ps4 is an exclusive machine and my pc is up to date enough to run games decently and console games are ridiculously overpriced in my country.

I learned my lesson, I will never buy another home console after this, should have just stuck with pc

Hm, disc rot...dunno. I still can play all the games i've bought just fine really. I have had more problems with disc read errors and the lenses of my consoles than anything having to do with the discs themselves.

It used to happen to my old CD-ROMs, it sucked bad. Basically, all CD's of that era are ticking time bombs but they could last a while depending on how you take care of them.

I just don't want to get burned.

But I digress.

I actually am anticipating the PC launch of this, which may sound strange cause i don't have a gaming PC and am buying on PS4

But i just want to see how many people just buy it spur of the moment with no previous connection to Yoko Taro games, just to see how they get mindferked by the events that transpire

give it at least 20 more years...but most will rot before end of this century for sure.

Ew.

As someone who only buys PS4 games that are not also on PC or Xbox One, I'm disappointed by this. I'm not going to give my reasons, but I'm very much anti-mulitplatform. I'll be crossing this game off my "to buy" list.

Thank goodness for Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 and Ratchet and Clank, at least. Looking forward to The Last Guardian. Curious about Nioh, Gravity Rush 2 and Dreams.

I know this is trolling but being a square enix title, there is a big chance that it will be denuvo protected, so you can be happy that the game won't be pirated for a while.
