Yakuza 0 shows "PS4 Console Exclusive". Coming to PC? (Nah)

For people saying it is a mistake

This was the image before the game got an official rating. It would be weird to go from "only on PlayStation" to "PS4 console exclusive game" accidentally after getting an ESRB rating.

Didn't Sega say while back they want to bring more of their games on PC? I remember them wanting to bring over some of their franchises.

So I wouldn't rule it out. I'm betting on this getting a PC release either same time, or couple months after and we'll find out at PSX.

I think that's where they announce it since that's where they announced street fighter V for both platforms.

Well we already know the date for Yakuza 0.
However if it happens, I do think it'll be a few months later. If it was day and date with PC, I think they would have said so all ready.

There's probably a bit of contractual obligation to stay mum on a pc port, and to go for the double dippers at play here. If it is happening of course.

I hope so, will play this day one on PS4 but bigger audience and the possibility of eventually having them all on one platform is really exciting.

They wouldn't even localize the Spin-offs and Kiwami, also Yakuza 5 took a lot of convincing for Sega to bring it over. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I've never played any of the games before, but I'd buy it if it appeared on Steam. Who knows, I might enjoy it.

Also it encourages Sega to port over more (hopefully Dreamcast) games to PC.

0 seems to be them starting over with Marketing on the series in the west so we'll see.
If monster hunter can go from not to big in the west to doing decent. I think Yakuza can get to the same sort of success.

I just got as much info as I can in the original post. Guys, if you're not catching this... this is a recent change. Their official site posted the same image.

I can't name a single game with this label that's NOT on PC.

Could that just be regional though?

Says only on PS4 Amazon Germany, but who knows.

No.

What's probably going on is that depending on the retailer, region, website - it's just some guy who's using stock template images to put up a box art image for a title.

This is why you're having different box art images say different things at different locations. It's a human logistical error (going either way).

I doubt that label means anything for Yakuza other than Sony didn't pay for full exclusivity and so the option is open if they want. I look forward to 2020 when they tell us a port is under consideration.

My follow up question is that if a 'provisional' PEGI rating is representative of non-final box art the way 'RP' from the ESRB is.

Sorta, from the PEGI website:

How does the rating process function?
Prior to release of each version of a game, publishers complete an on-line content assessment and declaration form. The first part of the form deals with legal provisions in certain European countries.
  • The publisher then completes the second part of the form relating to the content assessment of the game and taking into account the possible presence of violence, sex and other sensitive visual or audio content.
  • According to the declared content, PEGI allocates a provisional age rating along with content descriptors to indicate why the game has been allocated that age category.
  • The PEGI administrator (NICAM or VSC depending on the provisional age rating given) are sent an examination pack which contains all of the information and material required to double-check the provisional rating against the PEGI criteria.
  • The publisher is then issued with a licence authorising the use of the age rating label together with the related content descriptor(s) for the game.

Seems like a no-brainier Sega should port all their games to PC from a business perspective. Whether the port quality will be any good is a different matter, but if this extra stream of revenue allows the company to increase the budget of their projects or work on more projects, I'm all for it.

Sega's likely keeping their options open. SNK did the same thing for KoFXIV in making it a PS4 Console Exclusive.

Great. I've never played a Yakuza game but always been interested, but since it hasn't been on PC I've just not paid much attention to it. Assuming it is heading to PC, I'll have to look into it more. About time Sega kept bringing the goods!

Well,
King of Fighters XIV box says PS4 Console exclusive. havent heard anything of a PC version there

So far there hasn't been anything other than the PS4 version announced and released.

Also worth pointing out: when Yakuza 0 was first announced for western release at PlayStation Experience, it was also announced as a "PS4 console exclusive". So even back then they were at least keeping the option for a PC version open.

If only they could get ATLUS' own games in on this initiative too...

It's possible. A game being a "console exclusive" means they have the option to release it on PC. Of course, I'm not sure what's going on with Yakuza 0, so we'll have to wait and see.
