Ken Bone overstays his welcome. Uses reddit handle which sh a trail of seedy comments

Just leave the guy alone. Who cares about his post history, he's not running for office or trying to act like he's morally superior to anyone else. Not everyone that gets 5 minutes of fame deserves a witch hunt.

Meh. Its something he said publically, someone dug it up and people can come to their own conclusions about it. I don't really think this is much of a "witch-hunt."

He obviously didn't care enough to make his statements anonymous, he's an adult and can take ownership of what was said, good or bad.

Why does a random reddit user deserve public scrutiny for such middle of the road comments? Why do want our care to make a story out of this nobody?

Toddlers deserve to get shot

Exposed his reddit post history? You and I arent going to go trawling through his posts. What about his employers? Kids when they grow up? Its out there for everyone to see. Is that not a fuck up?
You created the thread. I didn't.

The general consensus of pretty much everyone is that it's mild and not worthy of much outrage. But the fact that everyone is clamouring is for some more dank Ken Bone memes mean his life might as well be ruined anyway. He called pregnant women submarines! He probably will lose his job and people like you will take no ownership of that fact and the internet will continue on as if it never happened.

Maybe he should have been more careful with his reddit comments, but the bad guys are still the ones who sought them out and looked at them.

Seriously? Being into pregnant women is one of the lowest run on the fetish ladder. That's a "I don't understand the attraction but that's not really weird or anything" type of fetish.

He should have created an account named "Mr. Mustache" just for porn posting. Nobody would be able to ID him by that.

They would just assume it was Tom Selleck.

So he likes porn and has a fairly mild opinion on a controversial issue.

Honestly I've seen worse. There isn't even an unironic white supremacist post here and that's entry-level Reddit cancer.
Awkward seeming guy is also awkward in his own time. Nothing surprising here.

Who cares? It's weird he even did an AMA. nothing is going to happen to him and understandably, since this is far from shocking in terms of Internet posts

Lol @ him not making a separate account, though.

I'm really uncomfortable with this. The dude was catapulted unexpectedly to internet fame and I feel like its gross digging around in his history and spreading it around, no matter how "easy" it was to find. Its not like there's anything even super incriminating in here aside from him being maybe not like a super awesome person? So fucking what

He did an AMA from his actual porn account

I'm not down with the idea that he's just a fill-on bad dude because of these milquetoast comments...even the wack "both sides" Trayvon one. I think people should just leave him be. He's gonna get shit on for this, though... hopefully there isn't anything worse out there on him.

"Hey guy, we like you ironically because you look like a big dork. Dance for us dork man. Oh wait, we don't like your post history. Shame on you dork man! We will now expose your nasty thoughts to the world! You goddamn freak!"

I haven't read the comments other than a few that seemed pretty standard reddit fare, don't really care to read more cause he is just some guy. Who gives a shit.

Does make you think long and hard about the merits of not throwing yourself into the public light.

He did like an AMA and such... Not a good idea unless you are totally cool with your post history or have a fake account.

Most of us I assume aren't careful with our online personas so laying within them is some kind of minefield, just in the sheer volume of stuff we see and shit we say assuming it all goes into the void.

Just waiting to be scrutinized some days.

Specially when you involve porn. Good hell, potential for backfire is enormous

Not sure thread policing is a good angle here, since this is on CNN.
It's everywhere, because this week "Ken Bone" = clicks even though most reasonable people understand the humor is that he has quirky/funny comments in his history.

Other outlets are deciding that they are 'seedy' and 'disturbing' and 'racist' - which is the type of shit that leaves people jobless and getting threats sent to them

Locker room talk.

He posted that he lied about having car insurance to get a pizza delivery job.

-There's two crimes right there he admits to.

Possible felony insurance fraud and also 1st time misdemeanor for driving without insurance.

Thats where I'm at, he could've avoided this by making a new account. You don't even need to verify your email. Maybe he just doesn't know too much about cyber.

If it makes anyone feel better IIRC he said in his AMA he's leaning one way and his history has a fair amount of Trump bashing in it, so he's probably not a super likely Trump supporter.

Yeah, it's a bit weird to drag him into the spotlight and now to put him down, because he's in a spotlight.

I don't agree with him but nothing he said was outrageous. I'm sure I have some pretty ridiculous and shitty comments in my post history.

Never understood what was so captivating a out this guy in the first place.

Same here. Not sure why he got that much attention and further, an AMA. Saw this story posted earlier and just kept thinking...why ever bother with this guy

Internet makes a man famous solely because he's an overweight funny-looking guy, then rummages through his post history to shame and humiliate him further. Internet blames him for daring to appear on TV in the first place.

Imagine how different the tune would be if this shit happened to, say, the Muslim woman who questioned Trump. This entire thing is embarrassing.

Yes he's not perfect big deal. I'm sure you've lived your entire life without doing anything wrong.

One is possible felony insurance fraud and the other is 1st time misdemeanor for driving without insurance. (assuming it was first offense)

Pretty sure I would not admit to that online if ever I did actually do that stuff.

His biggest sin was doing that AMA and getting out there in a public way during an election where either side can rip you to shreds if you get on their bad side. The comments he made are odd but not overtly offensive in any real way.

Internet detectives need something new to nitpick.

If I were an alien from another planet watching this election, I'd probably imagine at this point that politics is some kind of giant, world-wide joke that I just don't get.

So what is the endgame here? I mean not in this thread but in looking into this man's past, what do we want? For him to be fired? Not to be employable?

He asked a question at a debate and the only reason he got attention is because "lol fat guy with strange mustache wearing red sweater" I don't get this and people suddenly looking into whatever he said in the past. I mean I am not defending the gross shit he said I just find this all a little strange.

I always think things said in anonymity online should be separate from words and actions in person, at least if you're not running for office or its directly related to your job, or causes a criminal investigation.

That may actually be the case here though.

Yeah pretty much this.

Guy is famous because people were making fun of him (even if mostly lightheartedly).

Guy goes along with it.

People dig up things they don't like about him and get... angry?

I don't even think people are angry, at least I don't see it that way. It's just how people react to things now. It's more like shitty gossip, but in sheer amounts that is fucking horrible when it comes down on one individual, especially if that person was a damn nobody less than a week ago.

The fact that this shit is popping up on 'legitimate' news sites is disgusting. Who the fuck REALLY gives a shit what Ken Bone thinks, or thought three years ago, or what kind of porn he likes.

In terms of crimes you can admit to on the Internet, I doubt that would be a blip on a radar. Dude had to lie to get a delivery job. Leave em be

So you are a better liar, doesn't make him some horrible monster.

So you're pro bone?

You are aware they he finds naked women attractive?

Madness. Utter madness. Who would ever enjoy such a thing? The devil that's who.

But for real I thought the original fanboying of him was awkward and forced. The need for the internet to make and then destroy heroes is such a bizarre thing to me.
