In before Kagari enters and tells everyone she doesn't care because too busy with ARR! :)D)

Btw I like the good impressions, I didn't expect much of them tbh but maybe this time S-E made a FF that can appeal to a larger audience?

edit.

I'm actually playing World of Final Fantasy right now.

I hope it's good ^^

I'm actually playing World of Final Fantasy right now. And it's not ARR anymore... it's Heavensward, soon to be Stormblood.

The car does transform into an airship, but I don't think it can change into a Gundam.

It seems someone is playing while another one is filming the screen... that shakiness is not normal. Ha and also they zoomed it somewhat on the screen...so yeah, filmed footage.

I get that, but look at the way the UI moves. It's weirder than just someone filming the off-screen footage.

A couple questions based on what I'm reading:

1.) There will be more party members than just your core group? Or will those just be storyline related moments where they are added.

2.) Is the opening of this game just a big, meandering world where you can just screw around, or is that big world germane to the proper story?

3.) Is there any way to turn down the amount of in-combat/in-world dialog? I'm not keen to do so, but the writing was questionable, but far worse, the pacing seemed really off. People were stumbling over each other to get their lines out in ways that didn't make sense.

Guys, I'm so happy to see this!
Been rooting for Tabata & Co and it looks like this is the real deal.
So glad I delayed my vacation for this =D

I've been keeping my expectations in check, after the platinum demo and the terrible showing at E3, I really didn't want to get my hopes up. But after reading this I feel like I can be legitimatley excited. I just don't want to be dissapointed.

1) You get guest members, like in FFXII. The one you saw was most likely Cor.

2) It's the world you explore for the game itself, it's just open.

3) Some of the battle dialog is random quips and whatnot, so sometimes it comes off a little clumsy. But, I highly doubt you can turn it off because that's how a lot of the story will be told, through them talking to each other as you explore.

Just saw some parts for the polygon video. Even though they have GREATLY improved the performance and other technical side of things, the final build of the Titan battle is still not good in my eyes - from a gameplay perspective.

This combat looks like a flashier version of dragon age combat lol

I've lived through one recent game with great first-few-hour impressions, but it's still good to hear the that at least that much of the game is solid already.

Everything about this game looks and sounds amazing...

except the combat.

Combat just looks so dull and boring.

I love the friends duo dynamic, the towns, the npcs, the shops, the va for the most part, the dialogue trees, the open world, camp, etc.

but ugh, the battles.

1. No. Think of it like Kingdom Heart's party system where you get guests depending on the story moment. But you'll always have just Noctis, Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis. The main theme is the brotherhood between these 4 dudes.

2. Sort of a yes and no. The whole world isn't open for you from the start. The first chunk is big but it's only a small part and you can't access more of it until you progress through the story.

3. No.

It's literally the most action-packed combat the series has ever seen. How is that boring?

Super worried about the voice acting, and some of these previews seem to suggest at times it's really rough. All those "first hour of ff15" previews were almost unwatchable at times due to how bad the voice acting is. I really wish Square the developer could get VO right.

Gamespot implies that watching the Film and Brotherhood Anime is quite critical before playing... because they reference the events of those, but it lacks impact if you haven't seen them.

on #3 question, I think I saw an option to turn off the volume of the voices,
you could go all old school FF and turn of the voice and just leave the text on I guess.
Or switch it to a different language?

At least there's a JP version now. For me personally I like it now.

Thanks for the reply.

This one worries me. As someone who pretty much loved Xenoblade Chronicles, seeing FFXV in action finally sold me on it as such. Xenoblade is chock-full of battle dialog, which admittedly can grate on you (IT'S REYN TIME!), but it still felt well-paced. The Polygon demo, while not all the time, had A LOT of moments where it just felt like the lines would have been fine if they had only waited a half a second longer before delivering a response (In and out of combat). Made it feel really unnatural.

It's really the only thing that has me worried I guess, so maybe that's ok. I just worry about how that ends up feeling if you're playing the game for 40 hours.

Is switching to a different language actually going to be an option for the dialog?

I do not understand Japanese and get no pleasure out of hearing people talking in a language I can not understand, so that doesn't help me sadly, but it is great for people who like having the option to change languages.

TBF,
The guy at polygon hasnt learned to sprint in his 15 hours of game play, so....yeah, he's not the best player I've seen out there.

sorry polygon :()

I guess it comes down to simple preference but I refuse to play this in anything other than Japanese.

I was always there, in the first wagon on the hype train, ever since 10 years ago.

Hell, I was riding the engine like a mechanical bull. My hype has never faltered. Every time I saw the game my hype went higher and higher.

Previews and early impressions being overwhelmingly positive has only increased my anxiety for playing the game.

Versus XIII was my most anticipated video game since 2006. No other game could take its spot, not even my personal favorites like Metal Gear Solid 4 or the Uncharted franchise, not even The Last of Us.

And now we're almost there.

Almost there.

Stop worrying about other people too man not worth it let them say whatever
That polygon thread

In case anyone cares, we've got some HQ videos from the first few hours of the game. Nothing exciting in terms of content, but quality should be the best for this game yet :)

(Also our podcast with our impressions from these few hours)

OMG, THANKS a million!

Can someone sum up the impressions from the video-only previews?

I'm on mobile D:

Not sure what you're asking,
read the article, he gives his impressions there no?

I know the impressions are good but just looking at videos, the combat, camera and all the guys running into each other looks like a fucking mess.

Polygon's quote in the OP is basically "It's good apart from everything you're worried about." We'lol see.

I like it in an exploration sense, but fighting in it looks boring most of the time. It's hard to explain. lol

If you're basing anything combat related on that Polygon video, forget that like it's the platinum demo. It's like that guy went out of his way to avoid any kind of smoothness or sense of timing. It was actually brutal to watch.

If these were say like an hour of play time previews, I'd be pretty skeptical. But this being 15 hours, I think it's safe to assume the positive nature of the game is legit. Hopefully the end game pays off.
.

Yeah i agree. I think i will get this game day one!
