New Pokémon Sun & Moon trailer revealing the final starter evolutions & more

I like Red's older version. Some of you are too used to seeing 'cool' characters. Red was never that - he was a village boy that to the extent we know just enjoyed battling. His older look fits him. Green's look fits him too - he had more flair and cockiness than red.

Not every older character has to be a suave stud or beauty. It's more relatable that Red looks like a normal guy.

While I don't like the starters' final evos, their typings are nice. It's sad how my favorite starter from this gen (Litten) ended up with the ugliest third stage. To be honest, Primarina isn't too bad, and Decidueye looks better than its pre-evos. Now I'm not so sure I'll want to start with Litten.

Man, Primarina's signature move is just baffling. A damage dealing water move that heals burns? You wouldn't use it on your own team cuz it deals damage and why would you want to heal the burns of your opponents except in cases like guts?

Also they reeeeaaally should have fixed Blue's name when they had the chance.
I guess it'd be useful if your partner has the Water Absorb ability, which restores a bit of its HP when hit by a water move.

We have no idea how good the moves are until we see their base power.

We don't even know if they deal damage, though.

I hope they do, otherwise Rowlett's move is basically just mean look.

Frankly I love all the starters, I'm pretty impressed. Overall the line up as a whole is pretty strong I think.

Agreed. He still has that "serious" demeanor from the FRLG, but looks more grown up and "normal".

Idk if it was known, but I didn't expect Ghost type for the archer. Way more superior now than he already was. :)

Oh god, go digital or buy the game?!

Sun or moon?!

I go with grass starter or fire
Starter?!?

Aaaaaaaaaaaa
Buy the game.

Moon (Just deciding for you, arbitrarily. I feel like the Sun choice is too obvious though.)

Grass starter, easy.

Thanks. I always look over the smallest detail.

Read above.

It looks like Rowlet is going the glass speedy attacker type similar to Greninja while Litten with be the defensive physical attacker type but slower than Rowlet. I have a example but don't know how to speel his name. Lol.. The Pokémon that holds two blocks.

May go the owl then since I will have the moon version of rockruff who seems defensive.

Robin Hoot won me over. Hopefully being a starter means means it'll have a more diverse movepool than most Grass Types. The Fire Starter still does nothing for me and while I like the Water starter, defensive Pokémon are terrible for single player.

While the League talk and the Battle interest me and suggest that GF learned a lesson or two from ORAS about postgame content, the video officially crosses the line into "too much information". There's still 3 weeks until the game is out and we (officially) know:

* The majority of the Alolan Dex
* All (?) of the Alolan forms
* All of the Trial Captains
* Almost all of the Z Moves
* Large parts of the plot
* A large part of the Postgame content.

It's a lot. It's my fault for devouring everything GF put out, but I wish there was less to devour in hindsight.

No they shouldn't. He's been Blue here for over a decade. It's like saying the Street Fighter names for Boxer/Claw/Dictator should be moved around.

It also makes more sense to call him Blue when the games we got outside Japan were Red and Blue, not Red and Green.

If you played Blue his default name was Red. They had opportunities to fix it in GSC where canon names where introduce the first time and Fire Red and Leaf Green, which they didn't change to Water Blue. He's the gym leader of a city whose name means green and he's wearing green here.

The numbers also look like MissingNo. silhouettes.

Coincidence, MissingNo. only looked like that in the English localization. In Japan it was a cloud of blocks that was bigger than sprites allowed and also appeared different in several later localizations as well.

Y'all complaint about Red when he has a super cool Ryu "casual wanderer" vibe going on.

The real problem is Blue's clothes don't flatter his figure at all.

I lost my shit at that Ghost typing, then again at Cynthia, and AGAIN AT OLDER RED AND BLUE
These games won't stop amazing me and they're not even ooooout

I LOVE Decidueye, its 3D model, its typing, its signature move... Just wow. Best starter since Empoleon and now tied with it as my favorite starter period.

Puffy aka Cosmog is so cute ;__;

Unexpected typings for the totem guardians too and epic Z move.

The League being built and being able to not only battle but also team up with older epic characters... Best games ever confirmed. I can't even process all of it right now

Since Decidueye is probably physical oriented, I wonder what Physical grass attacks it'll learn given that many of the best don't seem like they'd fit. I doubt it'll get wood hammer for instance, and leaf blade might be possible, but I'm not sure. Seed bomb seems likely as does bullet seed (though unless it gets skill link or technician this one doesn't matter much). Could also see it getting petal blizzard

That's a stretch, I can just as easily see Primarina excelling in special defense/special attack like Gardevoir. I hope that's the case anyway.

I do have to say, I wonder if Primarina's line goes the way as every single starter in terms of the gender ratio. It did for Delphox which was fairly feminine, but this is a whole new level lol. I don't care really, just really am curious. Primarina miiiiight be my favorite starter of all time by its design (Decidueye is definitely up there too).

This was an amazing trailer. All of the evolutions are sick but Incineroar wins it for me. Such an awesome name and background. Also, Fire/Dark! People can stop hating on it now! Prefer Robinroot to Decideyue or whatever it's called. Seeing Cynthia and Wally was awesome and the pre-evo of the legendary was interesting.

But Red and Blue!!! I didn't expect them at all! That was amazing. Red looks off though. I don't know why.

All in all I'm so ready for this game!

you're welcome

Also worth noting that one of the earliest Chinese leaks called the fact that there is no E4 and that you would possibly have to create it. I'm curious how that will play out. I don't want it to just be the Kahunas popping up again.

Crackpot theory time: Fairy has been nerfed and is now weak to ghost.

Gen 6: Water/Dark-Fire/Psychic-Grass/Fighting-Water/Dark

Each subtype is super effect against the next

Gen 7: Water/Fairy-Fire/Dark-Grass/Ghost-Water/Fairy

The only one that doesn't hold up here is ghost versus fairy. Thus ghost now must be super effective against fairy because patterns are fun or something

TL;DR: It's probably nothing.

Man the only bad part of Primarina is that both of her other evos look so good that I wish they were their own Pokemon as well.

I mean they outright said in the trailer that there will be a league formed at some point, possibly as a post game thing. I wonder if the league will get you the z moves that aren't part of the trials

I'm hoping it's a post game thing. Maybe since the story revolves around Ultra Beasts, they felt it would be weird for the game to end after you beat the elite four instead of the story.

Plus didn't that leak a while back say something like
we'll help form the league or something?
