No God of War at PSX 2016

So, PSX is going to be RDR 2, Uncharted 4 dlc, final Horizon Zero Dawn trailer, final Resident Evil 7 trailer, maybe a Last Guardian launch trailer? More info on the Crash games?

Always seemed like a game they'd save for E3. The next showing needs to be more combat focused featuring an epic boss fight, and I think they know it as well. The demo last year was a great intro to the new Kratos.

I still think God of War has a good chance of making 2017, the E3 demo was running incredibly well. Days Gone looks like more of a 2018 game based on the demo they threw at the end of the conference. That demo seemed like more of a showcase of the zombie horde than what the actual game will be like.

Why can't PSX be E3?

It's a day Sony has all to themselves, especially since Sony is no longer at Gamescom or PGW.

Because they said so? But the real reason is that PSX isn't covered by mainstream media (USA Today, NY Times, etc). E3 is and that's what Sony's shareholders care about. So all of Sony's big AAA 1st party titles are going to be reserved for E3 and previously Gamescom/PGW. PSX is essentially a fanfest. It's primarily for the fans and not the press. It's a 2-day event where PS fans can get together to hang out, play a bunch of demos, meet some PS personalities, and attend panels.

My thoughts exactly.

The most pointless announcement of E3 for a long time. Literally just moment for Kojima to hog the spot light.

For real, how do you announce a game on stage at E3 and not even have an engine picked for it yet?

Detroit is the only game on the list (outside of Horizon obviously) I expect to make 2017. I've basically just come to expect roughly 2 years between announcement and release of these type of games.

Oh that's right, I always forget about that game. We've been hearing about it forever so hopefully it's coming soon.Good point on GR2 as well.

If, say, Spiderman, Dreams, and Detroit come out in '17 then that's six first-party games throughout the year. That doesn't sound bad to me. I mean this year there were 3-4-ish? (? maybe I'm forgetting something).

I wanna say summer sounds good for Spiderman, either summer or late spring for Dreams, and then holiday for Detroit and Gran Turismo.
I don't see Detroit coming in 2017. Spider-Man may but that's a toss up. GR2, MLB, Horizon, dreams will all be in the first half, Gt will be the only second half first party game and they'll push RDR2, Destiny and COD like First party games

Final Gravity Rush 2 trailer. If they can be bothered to make one.

I am OK with it not coming out in 2017 if Spiderman does come out. I NEED that game. Insomniac please.

Seriously doubt Spider-Man is a 2017 game.

I think the most plausible scenario for Spiderman is that they'd like to have it to tie in with the movie, but they've expressed that there's no rush on that front, so it could get bumped to a later date and possibly take another game down with it. Like how Last Guardian bumped down GR2. (Not bitter about that at all...)

If something had to give then I can see it being Detroit because it and Days Gone have the same problem of being new IPs that would probably get the most attention in a time period away from the crowded holidays.

Detriot
First mlb 17 trailer

Resident evil 7 gameplay trailer (month before release its happening)

That's exactly what they don't want to do. Sure the hype for the reboot with Marvel will help, but I don't see that having any impact on their development schedule. I'd be shocked if it's not a 2018 game. If comes earlier I'd be worried that is was rushed which is a problem that has plagued Spider-Man games for a long time.

Pity, it's looks amazing and love the new take on the series.

Things to expect at PSX

Full Throttle Special Edition
Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay and remaster announcement
Spiderman. (Perfect time for a bathroom break)
Horizon Zero Dawn gameplay
Crash Remaster gameplay
Final Fantasy VII Remake Aerith trailer
Days gone trailer
Death Stranding trailer
Mass Effect Andromeda trailer (if they got the marketing)

What I mean is that if it was able to be done in time by then, they'd probably think that's great, but I don't think they're rushing to meet that as a deadline, if that makes sense.

Trailer of what exactly? Kojima snorting lines of coke before coming to the story team with a new idea?

March, 2018

Also Sony begins a nice string of PS4 exclusives in December.

December - The Last Guardian
January - Gravity Rush 2
February - Horizon Zero Dawn
March - MLB 17: The Show

The writing was on the wall the moment we all saw this.

Based on the development times and my own speculations.
-Days Gone should be next after Horizon since Bend's last game was Golden Abyss in 2011 with another year spend prototyping games. So they probably have been making Days Gone since 2013 (that's 3 years as of now). This should be Sony's Go-getter for Fall 2017.
-God of War started development like 2 years ago so It needs more time in the oven, specially since it's bigger than the usual GOW games. So that's definitely a March 2018 game.
-Detroit should be due next year. QD released Beyond in 2013. So just like Bend they have been working 3 years on the game as of now. I think this game will be pushed to Spring 2018 because it works better for this type of game but I could see Sony releasing it next summer/autumn too so I honestly don't know.
-Spider-Man is a 2018 game. It started development in 2014 (let's assume it was after Sunset Overdrive and that was a Fall 2014 game).
-Death Stranding: XD we'll be lucky if it even releases on this gen. Might even end up being multiplatform with PS5. Fall 2019/20.

I have absolutely no interest in Spiderman. Biggest disappointment at E3 that Insomniac was working on it. If their is a trailer or gameplay I will be using the time to make a cup of tea and going to the bathroom.

I expect another off the wall trailer like at E3 and we leave with more questions.

Oh no. If there is no showing at this PSX, it means the game is just at its beginning (that is why they are still recruiting) and the game won't release before 2018. Waiting till E3 2017 will be a really hard task.

Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay and remaster announcement

The remaster is very unlikely to happen based on some reports. The original engine was apparently a mess. Which likely means that Rockstar won't go back and try to patch it up as it'd require way too much work. And they woudln't want to franchise name to be damaged by releasing some subpar remaster of it. They'd want be on the level of what tehy did with GTAV.

Mass Effect Andromeda trailer (if they got the marketing)

They seem to have it since Andromeda is one of the games on the back of the Pro box.

Highjacking this thread for a God of War question. :p

Is God of War Ascension Remastered for PS4 still a thing? Last rumor was more than a year ago. I'm about to start it on PS3, but will wait if it's coming to the PS4.

I trust Cory and SSM. They could take all the time they need. Plenty of games out and coming down the pipeline to keep me busy till then.

Won't the Spider-Man game tie in with Spider-Man: Homecoming next summer?

At the very least, they'll want to have it out when/before that movie hits Bluray.

While this is disappointing, this is not remotely surprising at all. A majority of first-party reveals games shown at E3/Gamescom has skipped the same year's PSX, with some exceptions like Uncharted 4.

Game won't tie in with the movie at all they confirmed and since they seem to be dead serious on it being a big AAA Spiderman title If it's not ready i doubt they force it to come out with the movie

2018, here we come*

*An Update on God of War: Posted by Shuhei Yoshida

"Hello, PlayStation Nation! The team at Sony Santa Monica is hard at work on Kratos' latest adventure. Unfortunately, being a dad in a Norse world is hard, so, after much deliberation, we've come to the difficult decision to push the latest God of War title until Spring 2019. Please look forward to it then!
