Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

I watch more movies than gaming, and initially i wanted to wait for dynamic metadata, because i think it will be a huge benefit for movies, but i couldnt wait and ordered a 55 ks8000 for my room.

TVs are actually usually a bit better than other stuff, if you buy a good set it should last you 5-10 years much better than a laptop or something else would.

HDR is nice, but honestly if you bought a nice 4k set a couple years ago it's not like you haaaave to upgrade. In another couple years they will be HDR12, or even some other new fangled display tech to tempt people to upgrade, but you'd still be golden with a 2014 higher end 4K set.

TV depreciation is insane though, and they are a pain in the ass to sell because it's not really feasible to ship them, and the bigger sets people need a fucking truck to pick them up.

But yeah KS8000 you should be golden with for a long while.

Haha, thanks for the reassurance. Definitely think I'll just go that route.

I've seen a PS4pro running on a 4khdr (highend tv) right next to a regular 1080p tv. The difference was pretty astounding, almost made it hard to look at the regular in a way. I look forward to getting spoiled.

Out of those 3, 6290 without a doubt. You'll get low input lag for gaming, nice picture quality for movies in 1080p and 4k, and good colors. It will accept a hdr signal, but wont have hdr as good as more expensive tvs.

So I'm down to either the 6290 or the 6300. I can afford the 55 inch 6290 or the 50 inch 6300. I dont really care about the 5 inch difference which one would you go with if size wasn't a factor?

Thanks again for your help.

Dell has the 55" KS8000 for $999 as well so I caved and ordered it since eBates has 12% cashback from Dell right now and Dell kicks another 10% back as well in the form of a gift card

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.

Bigger is better. It's the same TV except 6290 is without Bluetooth?

I have the 6290 65 inch and it's awesome.

I finally got notice that my KS8000 that I ordered on Monday morning has shipped.

Yay!

My only beef is that the shipper is AGS. I had a real bad experience with them 2 years ago when delivering a Vizio TV. The guy was carrying it on his head/shoulder when they got here.

Is there a list somewhere of all HDR10 tvs? I want the ks8000 but i'd have to downgrade from a 60in to a 55in for the money i wanna spend.

edit: is the ku6300 HDR10?

The deal on Samsung.com on the 65KS8000 is sitting at $1079.99 ATM. If you were able to create an account through perksatwork before the deal was removed, you can still buy the TV at the discounted price.

So, received my 55KS8000 from Samsung today. Super excited to rip open the box and set it up. I go to power it up - big crack down the left hand side. What a sinking feeling. Called Samsung, and they had me take pics and send them over, while they process a FedEx return label and process a refund for me. Packing up a broken TV that you were so excited for is absolute zero fun. I was hoping they would send me another TV and pick this one up, but alas, that seems to be asking too much.

Ugh, I'm so damn frustrated. I should have known something might be up when the box had a nice gash in it and dents along the top, as if someone manhandled it during shipping. I thought I was in the clear having to deal with FedEx instead of AGS, but apparently not.

I think I'm going to say screw it and buy it from Best Buy or some other brick and mortar for a little more, so I can at least bring it back myself and get another if I need to without dealing with this hassle. Man...

Just saved myself about $600 on the Samsung 60KS8000. Bought it 3 weeks ago off Costco for $1479.99 and just ordered it using the EPP from Samsung for $850! It sucks losing the 90 day return window + the extra year warranty but I'm not gonna cry over it if I can save that much!

Oh and for those ordering the 60"...it says 7-10 days to ship on their web site but I placed the order yesterday and just got an email saying it shipped. So the info on the site isn't accurate.

Literally the same experience. Just shipped it back through FedEx today. Bought from Best Buy and seeing if my credit card will match the price, in submittal now. Sounds like you had a decent customer service experience with Samsung, mine was miserable.

I know the feel though, do all the research, get a great price, then a total let down. I went to best buy the next night and bought it and felt a lot better. I'm having a bit of remorse about not getting the better deal, but it was still a hell of a deal either way. I was willing to buy it at $1050, the extra $150 isn't a big deal, but the price dropping to $850 is making my want to return it to best buy and try AGS again :/ see how this credit card claim goes.

Actually, no, the Samsung rep I had clearly could not give two craps. I don't except heartfelt sympathy, but maybe understand my disappointment. She blurted out her email so damn fast, and was getting annoyed when I asked to repeat it...I'm not even sure I got it right.

Crazy that you had the same experience. I'm looking at other places to buy it and now I'm hellbent to get it this weekend or soon thereafter. The Best Buy closest to me is out of stock. I'm certainly tempted to just order from Samsung again since they did get it to me pretty fast, and the deal is pretty ridiculous.

Are you saying you're paying the $2799, or you're able to price match to somewhere else ? What/where are you price matching to ?

Leon's will be dropping the price of the tv to $2799 for Black Friday. All I have to do is call them up when the deal comes out and they will price match it for me.

I have a 6290 and it's great

HDR + game mode, low lag

I believe the only difference is that the 6290 doesn't have Bluetooth

Yeah I got passed around 5-6 times over 24 hours before I got someone that actually cared and apologized a bunch. Crazy thing is that she was with the e-commerce department and could not initiate an exchange. Crazy they won't exchange and you have to completely repurchase, at the time the sale ended too and they wouldn't give me the previous sale price on a reorder. That's when I went to best buy, it went back on sale the next day for even cheaper. My impatience got the best of me in the end. But the thought of having to go through the whole process again just put me off (taking off the from work to be home for delivery/pick-up and dealing with AGS). But it dropping from $1050 to $850 now, ugh, might be worth it. Really banking on Discover pulling through for me. Been a really anxious process, should have been fun and rewarding for a promotion I just got, just ended up being unlucky.

/Rant

But I'm sorry man that sucks, I do feel ya. It'll get sorted out in the end, a lot of people have had perfect deliveries, in hindsight I wish I was patient, you probably should be too.

input lag on the LG OLEDs is way too high for me to stomach. If I was to upgrade my TV, which I'm considering, it's samsung all the way.

#s wise it might be.... I'll check for myself tomorrow.

but again that's ONLY when using HDR. Which not all competitive games have.

4k/60fps is fine so far.

I believe the only difference is that the 6290 doesn't have Bluetooth/wifi (you'll want to use wired for 4K anyway)

Has wifi for sure I am using it, no choice as modem is downstairs. I think the only difference is lack of blue tooth. Nice shot there too! TV is great.

I hear you, and I agree 100%. So far, this has not been worth the savings. You can't put a dollar amount on frustration...but I'm giving the Samsung route one more try. I just placed the order again, and am hoping for the best.

Good luck to both of you. I was so nervous after reading all the horror stories of broken tv's from AGS. I got my 60" KS8000 on Monday. Went to pick it up myself. Perfect condition.

Mine was bent in such a bizarre way without any damage to the box that it had to of been broken by Samsung before even going in the box. Not even sure how that happens.

They are pretty much the same tv, i think the main difference is one comes with a smart remote and the other doesnt. I am not 100% sure, so make sure to look it up, but i am 99% percent sure the only difference is the remote.

The model number is NS-L42X-10a. For some reason I cant get displaylag site to work properly. Not sure what Im doing wrong.

It's possible that they did not test your tv. You can also try a site called displayspecification, but i dont know if they have your tv on that site.

It's also missing the smart remote. But yea, honesty if you want a great entry level HDR (loosely putl TV for gaming I would go with the KU6290. If you want one for movie viewing then the Hisense H8C. But the input lag on that guy is more than I'd recommend for most that want to game "competitively".

It bothered me a lot personally. But everyone is different.

Thats why i usually recommend the ku6300. the picture quality is pretty much the same as the hisense, but the ku6300 is also good for gaming. The contrast is also better on the ku6300 which i feel helps in the PQ department.

Man... this stuff is so hard to navigate.

Should I just give up on looking for a 4K TV with good HDR and low enough input lag to enjoy playing games using a PS4 Pro this year if my budget is sub-$2,000?

If so, is there any hope that a good TV in this price range will appear early next year?

2,000 is a lot dude. Just depends what size tv you want.

Doesn't the 6300 series only have 1 4k input?

Does it do 24hz on xbox one s? Rtings says it doesn't do 24hz and has bad jutter but they also say the h8c doesn't but after firmware updates it does do 24hz at least according to the Xbox one s test.

I think hdmi 1 is the only one that supports 4k @60hz hdr, but the rest should support 4k. Im not sure though, my friend only has a ps4 hooked up. You can always get a splitter if you have more than one console for 4k@60hz.

What? In this thread alone we were getting 55" KS8000 or 65" KS8000 for $729 or $1079 etc. There was a deal on the 55" LG B6 for under $1500ish.

Under $2000 is still more than plenty to enjoy 4K and HDR. Under 48" I would recommend the X800D by Sony, over 49" I would recommend the KS8000 as the best tvs with a combination of quality and price and gaming capability.

When I had my one s on hdmi 1, every box had a green check on the tv info. Was that in there?

Yep. But 3d was too so I doubt it was every box ;)

Maybe there was a firmware update, I dunno If a set could pass that test but not really support 24Hz.

Rtings also says the h8c doesn't support 24Hz but it passes the Xbox one test for everything but 3d, and I haven't noticed any jutter.

Yea 3d had no check in the box, that was a different spot though. I meant the TV info page.
