Here is just the first region for comparison

What's new?

The left part and Altissia at the bottom. Where the hell is Terraverde / Tenebrae. The left part of the full map looks like Solheim.

That disc only seller on eBay is no joke. I bought mine this morning and live in California, he's shipping from Virginia and my scheduled delivery is tomorrow at 3pm.

Pretty excited to get this before my four day weekend.

Same! It is not only a poor opening it is as you put it clumsy...it just isn't right. You need not even have spent a single day in 'film school' to recognise that. If Kitase was directing that wouldn't have made it past the first draft....heck that opening wouldn't be in the first draft tehehe

I agree, the opening is really bad and it doesn't make any sense, it's really really unfortunate that they removed the invasion part from the game due to time/budget issues.

XVs greatest achievement is popularizing the revisionist history that is "FF always has bad stories"

I dunno how well FFVI's story will hold for a photo realistic game TBH. I do think it's masterful on SNES though. And the opening scene alone has better direction than all the cut scene in FFXV I've seen. JRPG puts itself in a disadvantage when it goes for realistic graphic. People expect characters to talk like real people, but that will lose all the charm as a JRPG. The lack of story altogether, however, really bothers me. This is something new to FF.

Did they even ever confirm if it was an explorable/playable area? I know we've seen it in the environment trailer but beyond that, I have no idea.
Maybe they just Verendus'd us =/

I'm really not seeing what you guys mean by PSP cutscenes. There's a jarring different between cutscenes that look great and some that just look okay, just like in FFXIII. It's to do with the post processing.

?

It has nothing to do with any kind of graphical effect. What we've seen of XVs cutscenes is largely people standing around awkwardly discussing whatever it is they're discussing. XIIIs scenes were largely about nonsense, but they were actually directed and composed at the quality of expect from the guy that did the scenes for X.

Then wtf is this? This is worse than anything I've seen in XV, including the newspaper scene. Just listen to the music too.

Kitase's games have had a great sense of narrative but stuff like this happens in big games.

I don't remember it ever being confirmed, but it looks like they wasted a huge amount of time building and rendering it if we don't even get to go in it. Same with Niflheim.

I think what people mean are XV's cutscenes are more static while XIII's cutscenes are more dynamic. With the latter being more cinematic in the process.

You folks that bought the disc only ones on ebay got it good. My OCD wouldn't let me do that. Granted I did get a boxed version and it should be here Wednesday! It's getting crazy!!!

Well we know we go to Nifilheim at some point (the scene with the car at night and them leaving it behind in the rain seem to take place there) but they haven't even hinted at Tenebrae being a place we can go to. With the ending out there, I'm sure someone could clear this up but now I'm afraid to find out lol. Its one of the locations I was most excited for and it would really suck if you don't go to it at all.

Just watching the first thirty seconds of this clip we start with a sweeping shot of the food on the table illustrating we're in someone's home and then a title card for the chapter. We pan up to Light as we hear her talking. The camera switches to Sera and Snow, Sera's body language illustrating she's the one that's really in trouble here. We go back to Light, but the camera is looking up at her, asserting that she's the dominant one in this conversation.

FFXIII is a pretty bad story. Maybe you've seen way more of XV than I have given the streams; This is far better directed than any of the in-game scenes I've seen in XV. These shots are angled and composed to at least some degree of purpose.

Edit: What I should say is that it's not that characters are standing around in XV, it's that this is depicted in as dull a way as possible. It's not cinematic at all from what I've seen.

I haven't played but some of the stuff in the trailers looks plenty dynamic, like many of the Altissia scenes or Noctis fighting Aranea. FFXIIIs in-engine cutscenes are terrible by comparison.

When COD:IW came out, there was a guy on ebay who was selling five Xbox and five PS4 copies, plus a few copies of Battlefield 1, for €47,00 instead of the €69 regular price, supposedly copies from a retailer where the wrapping was missing so they could not be sold in store.

Sent the money via bank transfer, a few days later the user was deleted and his remaining items were deleted by ebay because of some infringement. Of course, I never received the game and am screwed out of my money because the guy had no PayPal.

Now I have to contact ebay to get his supposed details, which will be false anyway because that guy had no previous ratings (I know, I know, red flags everywhere but I really wanted the game and save some money and decided, against my gut feeling, to believe this was real). I will definitely file a Police report, though. I'm currently unemployed and unwilling to just write off almost €50 to some scammer who made at least €500 ripping people off :(

I hope something like that doesn't happen to you with FF XV, I for one have certainly learned my lesson :(

Yea I would NEVER do it via bank transfer. That sucks that happened to you :/

Fortunately this guy has shipped the game out, has a paypal and USPS shows it arriving this friday (Im guessing since USPS doesnt deliver on thursday cause of thanksgiving). Hoping for a wednesday arrival since its from VA and im in NJ, but friday isn't bad either ( All weekend to play it!). Looking at feedback on his account, he also sold watch dogs 2 earlier this month.

I have no doubt we will see it. I think it'll be a hub that you can run around, but no where near a huge area as the ones in the first half of the game.
Ditto. I also mean just walking in that place, even if it is essentially a linear Spira like FFX, would be great.

The Altissia portion in itself looks huge with surrounding areas though. Are we confined to just the city?

Literally impossible that Tenebrae isn't explorable after all the time put in to that location. That would be crazy. Fuck

I actually created an eBay account and bought an early copy from him, thanks to your earlier post. :) Of course, I checked out the user's actual page before ordering, though, haha.

Hoping the same with a Wednesday arrival. I won't be able to play much on Friday anyways due to Gilmore Girls. But there is always the weekend which is nice.

Yeah, Tenebrae is the most interesting city we've seen. Gonna have some words for the dev team if they don't even let you walk through it. lmao

Oh, Altissia. PeruBro who streamed the game said there's a dungeon in the Altissia area. I thought he said it was outside of the city too but don't quote me on that.

Sounds good.

I really had a bad feeling with my "purchase" of CoD, and I thought let's delay payment a few days until he gets some feedback on his profile, but I was too impatient and ended up paying the same day :( The bank account of the seller is under some female Russian name, hope the person is physically in Germany at all :(

a bunch of ppl saying that we should watch kingsglaive before playing, but I really don't want to, especially after seeing it pretty much universally panned :/

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
