Fantastic. That should all but eliminate the battery life complaints.

Now the battery is a non issue, being so easy to recharge with a power accessory, I hope they went super ambitious with the specs.

Are you guys joking? No it doesn't.

If it necessitates a charge after <3 hours of play, that's still abysmal, regardless of whether it'll charge a bit faster or not. The fact that you have to charge is the problem here, not how long it'll take,

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
How does that eliminate battery life complaints exactly?

Many people in previous threads said that if the battery was fast-charging like USB-C, they didn't have any complaints.

This :
You can use a USB power bank and continue playing.

If I can play with my power bank on the go why should I care so much about the battery life, I will have a bag or something to carry the switch anyway

3DS doesn't use USB

Well you can still do it if you have the cable.

I own an external battery, have the 3DS cable and I still find my n3DS limiting in terms of using it outside. For me, having a more standard connector doesn't really solve anything. The battery needs to last as long as possible.

This would be interesting. It could also enable screen mirroring by using a usb dock with video out if games like Mario maker are still in the cards.

The likely presence of capacitive over resistive screens in the switch is probably more due to the fact that next to noone is making resistive screens anymore, much less at the resolution/size they'd be looking for here. Inclusion of USB is definitely a big plus, though I'd wager that had more to do with Nintendo relaxing their design control and allowing Nvidia a bit more free reign on hardware accoutrements. On the flipside, however, I think you'd have a hard time designing a proprietary port that could both power/charge this kind of device and have enough bandwidth to support 1080p60 display throughput, much less do so at an economical cost versus licensing the pre-existing usb3/c standard.

Resistive Screens are used in industrial settings. Like credit/debit card readers at shops and banks, UPS delivery drivers still use them in order for receivers to sign off on packages etc. Cheaper way to have stylus support vs using an active digitize layer which a capacitive screen will require.

Also, are we going to pretend that Nintendo doesn't use standard like SD cards slots (something the Wii, Wii U, DS series and Non-"NEW" 3DS had), UBS ports

Although I have no issue doing what you mentioned above, a lot of people will and that's not really an ideal solution for them.

Nope - PS4 is using inferior tech.... SWITCH using more advanced USB C

damn.. honestly cant believe I used a line where Nintendo using more advanced tech vs Sony

So like...were you not living during the fifth and sixth generations?

USB-C does not guarantee fast charging.

Looked into it and it seems the Nvidia Shield somehow supports quickcharge though, so like nvm this post.

In this day and age where power banks are a necessity due to smartphones being so power hungry, I don't see that it's a big issue for a lot of people.

Great news if true. My phone is already USB-C so I have plenty of accessories already.

The quick charging on my phone is a revelation, I really hope the Switch has that.

Man if it supports quick charge... hot damn. My 950 charges to 60% from basically dead faster than I can shower.

Makes sense. Gives Power, Video Out, and Data Connection through one port. I would anticipate USB-C to HDMI working (for when you dont have the base station handy) as well.

I wouldn't worry about that.

3DS doesn't use USB

It also charges faster than the official Nintendo charger when connected to a 2A charger

It would be quite ridiculous to adopt the USB-C standard and not use that feature. Also, the Switch's battery is probably going to be pretty beefy so they would want the capability of charging it in a reasonable amount of time.

Nice one, I'm glad to hear that as those micro USB cables take a while to charge my android phone. What kind of boost does USB-C give over micro, two times or not as much ?

2-3 times as fast. Charger and the device itself obviously have to support it. But the cable is capable of it. (Not 100% sure, but what i read)

Just because the Switch might have a USB Type-C connector doesn't mean that it's going to support any type of fast charging functionality.

Well, the Tegra has support for quick charge at least. The Shield Tablet can be fast charged with a Quallcomm quick charger for example.
