Yea it seems like it was supposed to be available at the start of the game but as soon as Cid shows up at the place in your spoiler all of a sudden I could upgrade all of my weapons, one of a time very slowly of course.
There was no update or any sign showing I could, I was just luck enough to check at that time. I thought it was a glitch but I guess it wasn't.

This was going to be my follow-up question, so thanks for answering that.

I had noticed that I picked up several upgrade items and was planning to turn them in. Much to my surprise, Cid would only take one (at least initially; haven't gone back to him yet). I wasn't sure if you could only upgrade one at a time, or if I hadn't picked up as many upgrade items as I thought.

I must be stupid but after 10 hours I still don't understand how to mix magic. I have 5 available flasks but once I select the magic I want (99 of each for example), there's no option to put it in a flask. Do I need to buy some special item? Nothing is explained in the menu.

You gotta move the cursor down to the Craft button. I know, it's kind of hard to tell at first lol.

Select the number of Magic items with the shoulder buttons, then you have to go to the "Craft" button that is below. There's a big arrow pointing towards it.

Is there anything else to grow in Iris's garden other than Carrots? How do I plant more than just 5 carrots at a time lol? Theres soo much room but all ive been planting is a handful of carrots.

I'm currently at Chapter 8 but I hope the game eventually explains
what Gladio was up to when he had to take care of some personal business
. Hmm.

Yeah, I'd like to know this too. I have all of these seeds from quests too, but no idea what to do with them.

That's all you can do. It's just there to get the items from the guy near the garden.

So is there an easy way to craft a max power freecast spell? Just the idea of getting freecast spells makes me want to collect as many ingredients that are needed as fast as possible.

Finally finished the game late last night, here are some thoughts.

Pros:
- Main characters, I liked all four of them.
- Setting, the world of Eos is one of the best in Final Fantasy, the open world section of the game is great
- The Battle System is great, I have so much fun fighting enemies.
- Music, I don't think I need to explain this one.
- The road trip aspect of the game was cool most of the time.

Cons:
- The story, even if as a whole the story is not too bad there are many plot holes, plot lines that are dropped, characters that make decisions that are ilogical.
- The main Villain
Ardyn IMO is by far one of the worst villians in FF, his goal is not really explained at first and when they explain it many things he did make no sense.
- The change of pacing from chapter
10 to the last one
, I liked that we were getting more story from that point onward compared to the first half but it was at the cost of the freedom we had originally.

In the end the good points of the game outweigh the bad ones so an 8.5 is a fair score for this game, it's just a shame there's so much wasted potential.

I am in Chapter 5 or 6 I think, and something weird started happening in combat. The sky will go dark and there will be these weird particle effects. Once combat is over, they go away. Never saw that leading up to this point. What is that? Sorry if it was mentioned in a cutscene, I tend to tune out the details.

Postgame hunt question:

How do you get the Iseotalon to spawn? (It's a hunt from Lestallum). I'm in the crater at night but its not there.

That's a summoning sequence. When that happens, a prompt will appear at the bottom of the screen. You can choose to hold the L2 trigger for around 10 seconds, and a summon will appear.

It means you can summon. You should get a "L2 to Summon" prompt at some point.

Hopping in to say that i am LOVING this game. I was worried because of the troubled development but it's been a joy for me to play so far. I am 30 hours in on Chapter 3 (LOL).
What percent of the open world have I seen up to this point? The world seems huge to me!

Whoah, ok thanks. What are the conditions for use? Should I be using that at every opportunity? Seems a little OP?

That first summon while in the base finding the car literally had me laughing my ass off with joy. What a great, epic moment. Loved it.

Summoning chances are mostly random, but apparently some of the gods have particular requirements which I won't say because some would be spoilers.

Unlike the summons in previous Final Fantasy games, these guys are not your party's pets. They decide when to help you. You don't command them.

I just got the key for the 8
secret dungeons

How am I supposed to do some of these "level 65-99"... I've cleared the first 4, and i'm level 52.

Is this needed for the platinum trophy?

Adamantoise quest question.

Started the mission that has you investigating a "moving mountain" and the next step after fleeing the fight was to speak with Takka but now theres no quest in my inventory. Anyone know if I should have a quest for this part or do I just need to find Takka wherever they are and speak with them.

Anyone here know where this Takka is lol?

Ok thanks for the info. I've seen the dark sky/particles show up in several battles, so for me at least it seems to be happening quite frequently. I will make sure Noctis says his prayers before bed time to keep the summons happy.

Nope. Surprisingly the only real post game stuff that is required for the platinum is the Adamantoise and the Regalia-F upgrade.

When do you get that? Postgame thing? Just curious, since I'm in Chapter 8, and I'm about level 52 myself.

Finished Chapter 3 last night - I'm having a blast with this game. The dungeons have the old exploratory feel of older FFs/RPGs and I'm starting to have a lot of fun with the combat. I wish the things you found were in actual chests like the old days and not just shiny spots on the ground, but it's not a huge turn-off. Also was that really the
Midgar Zolom
just chilling outside the Chapter 3 dungeon? Scared the shit out of me coming up on that at night, geez.

Definitely already getting the "open world side quest" bleh feeling. The main quests and hunts are fun, but the "go here, get an item, come back" side quests are already taking their toll on me, especially when you have to travel all over the place and Ignis is a little twerp about driving at night so you have to plan out your fast travels if you want to get more EXP to bank.

Overall though the game is super fun and I'm enjoying it way more than I ever did FFXIII.

I really wish we had chests, too :(

The animation to absorb magic is so satisfying, imagine some other mystical bullshit to open chests? It would be amazing.

YES! Beautiful theme, and I love how it slowly starts playing, really adds to the effect. Thank you kindly, sir/madam!

Wanderlust is the best song in the game, imo. Love it so much!

Every time it plays I stop for a while and just appreciate the world.

I feel like my biggest issue with this game is the lack of urgency and a focused antagonist.
Why do i give a shit about the empire again?
They sure dont seem too keen on being any kind of a real threat.

Ardyn?
What an ass clown.

And then faceless npcs die off screen and im supposed to give a shit?

How do you take down an entire empire that just destroyed your kingdom and heal the star of its plague with urgency? This is not exactly the kind of thing they can solved by just getting in the car and rushing to Niflheim.

Which is why you collect the power of past kings and astrals, as well as the Ring of the Lucii.

Beat the game last night at Lv91, 75 hours in. Ending truly was amazing like most people gave stated. The plot was truly a mess for the most part, but it doesn't change the fact that it did so much right for me. And it's easier to forgive those faults when the ending manages to stick the landing.

Not really an impressions guy, but yea, in the end this still was easily my GOTY. I'd rate it a 8.5/10 as of now. Even when the eventual honeymoon phase ends, I couldn't rate it lower than an 8 lol

Now, on to the post-game content I suppose.

my only real question about any of the systems is magic

are there any catalysts you can use to get more than 3 uses out of one? I know you can get at least quintcast(x5) but its still only 3 magic balls.

Also I finished at 55. I'm assuming to go after the turtle and shit I can find some end game hunts
in the old world?

I have more missions but I need a lot of XP quickly to get caught up on that stuff

i'm almost 100% certain that there are quest question marks at hammerhead when the upgrade thing becomes available

It's
3-4 hours
long
So, good luck

Theres really no way it's that long. I finished the game tuesday and it was maybe half as long as that

Where can I find my bonus items that came with the deluxe edition? I put in the code, but they are not in my inventory.

The sword is under 2h swords on Gear window, the suit is for Noctis again under Gear window and the paintjob can be accessed
when customizing the Regalia at Hammerhead station

I think the poster you quoted is alluding to the fact that the plot has no emotional oomph from its opening to hook the player. We're told about events rather than shown them, and we have no sense of context, of how the characters fit into the game's events and what it means to them. It's a terrible fumble from a storytelling perspective.

The drama does come eventually, but very late, and by that time it's hard to care about what is happening or why. Putting key plot points into a companion CG movie is so profoundly dumb it defies logic itself.

I genuinely hope Square doesn't try doing this type of thing again.

Takka = Forrest Whitaker, aka the restaurant guy in Hammerhead
