Yes. Unfortunate since the Wii U was already very underpowered and a generation behind. This is now 2 gens behind.Yeah, this is going to be to the Wii U what the Wii was to the GameCube isn't it?
NeoGAF was expecting Vegeta; they got Farmer w/ Shotgun
Why the hell does it need fans then?
So Switch will be the new Vita but with Nintendo support then.
The CPU is bad but it still shits on Espresso from the top of a mountain.
Just logged in after 2 days travelling and see this... I must say I'm shocked. Gonna take some time to process this and read the thread.
Wow, though. Wow. Miles weaker than I expected. More fool me.
Sure it has architectural advantages but its grossly underclocked low, doesn't even compare to our "confirmed" leaked devkit in the other thread. So its still utterly bizarre.
Moreover, this wouldn't even run Zelda at 30 in handheld.
Adding the Vita, with a 5" screen (960 × 544 resolution / 220 ppi), GPU around 50 GFlops @ 400 MHz, 28 @ 200.
So the Switch has 1.77 more pixels to feed, with just 3-5 times more GPU power than the FIVE YEAR OLD Vita.
No it's not
307,2 * 256 * 2?
3DS had way more support than Vita, so bad comparison.

It is over 10x the Vita while undocked. The Vita has one stiff competition. LOL Nintendo. Now I know why you keep using the Wii U in your Zelda demos. This is... Disappointing.
especially when a PS4 + game is already going for $250.
This is fucking why I wanted them to make a regular damn box with a controller and call it the Nintendo Entertainment System, at least as powerful as a Ps4.
You cant trust Nintendo with gimmicks, they ALWAYS sacrifice power for them.
nintendo ocer prices their stuff. $200 would be major surprise
Why not just advertise it as a handheld? This was made with Japan in mind. Calling it a console I was expecting xbox 1 level of performance and handheld mode would be close to it.
There's already many phones and tablets that outperform this one on the alleged specs
I loledSo Switch will be the new Vita but with Nintendo support then.
Again this article is not confirming anything beyond clock speeds. It says explicitly that SM count and CPU core count/type are still unknown.
This is pretty much where I'm at. As long as it isn't weaker than a Wii U, I'm a happy man. I think Nintendo does wonderful things with the aging Wii U hardware and I'm totally fine with retaining that type of graphics fidelity as long as Nintendo wises up with network infrastructure and online features while also getting third parties on-board.

Even Laura Kate Dale is saying she's confident the system would outperform the wiiU in handheld mode which would wouldn't be possible running the system with the default X1 configuration at the given clocks.
While I wasn't expecting Boner level flops this is disappointing mainly in that holy fuck portable mode is low.
Bigger issue from the jump has been Nintendo's marketing as a console first. Wouldn't feel so bad for some if it wasn't marketed that way.
My biggest current issue outside of price unknowns is man that portable mode.
I wasn't expecting a ton of AAA 3rd party support, but I was hoping indies would latch on.
Makes me wonder how well certain indies would actually run on this thing. Some of the 3d games as of late like Firewatch and The Witness would probably chug at that power level even if they exactly graphics powerhouses.
If he has an iPhone 7 or a Samsung Galaxy S7, his phone would technically be more powerful than an nVidia Shield X1, which in turn is looking like it is more powerful than the Switch.
The fact Nintendo Switch uses nVidia technology from 2013 is blowing my mind right now.
That CPU has the potential to be a bottleneck for WiiU ports... ?_?_?_?_?.
I guess this really puts into question 3rd party support going forward. I can see it being really successful as a handheld (which is all I wanted!) but I do wonder about ports down the line with the Pro and Scorpio around, will it end up just like the Wii U? I hope not.
On the flip side if it's treated as a true 3ds successor it can be pretty damn successful.
I am completely blown away that people saw the Switch announcement trailer and still expected performance to rival x1/ps4.
Half an Xbox One then ? Isn't that what we were all expecting ? There's probably something I'm missing.
That would be best case scenario, docked, if the developers use FP16 extensively if I'm understanding that post correctly.
You do realize that both the 750Ti and the Switch have Maxwell architecture right?
If you can compare a 750 Ti to consoles then you can do the same for the Switch.
Given the ~150GFLOP/s reference number as good when in portable mode that makes the normal ps4, the non-pro version, more than 10 times better in computational power than Nintendo's next generation with the Xbox One being roughly 9 times faster.
Wow, disappointing!
Can we be sure this is legit?
i really don't care. i'm sure all their games will run just fine on it. just means we might not get a lot of 3rd party games. i won't be expecting many games come to Switch that are on PS4/XB1.
it does need to function as a portable handheld device so that would explain the low clock speeds in order to save battery.
