I have to say i was unsure about this game. But now that I've played it I can say I'm definitely getting it. It's up in EU store

Looks like preordering the black box edition was a good idea after all. I won't play the demo though as I want to go in completly blind!

The demo is great but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I expected the combat to be a bit more elaborate. When I started playing I said "Where is my combo score?".

I guess I just had the wrong expectations and thought it would be closer to a full character action game since it's made by Platinum. But as different as it is compared to the original Nier, it still says Nier on the box. There's sooooo much focus on combat though (if the demo is representative of the full game), that I would have preferred if they made it more like their character action games. It's very similar already anyway.

Love the stylish finish to this animation. So destructively calm and graceful. Beautiful!

Before you expect another DeviMayCry you'll get a Yoko Taro game with platinum combat.

I know I expected the wrong game, my fault. It will be great anyway, just different than I thought. I'm thankful Platinum is developing this, the gameplay in the first one was not that great. And I still remember that terrible jump animation lol.

You said this game will disappoint in every way but the combat. But basically everything but the combat is what makes Yokotaro games special

Then again, everyone's tastes are different.

People were """"disappointed"""" in Drakengard 3's story/structure/setting but I actually adored it to death and this might be heresy to say in a Nier thread but I think in some ways I liked it more than Nier.

We know Yoko Taro got more writting done with the gameplay and visual portion of his game being handled by Platinum. Writting, getting drunk and writting while being drunk is how he got this far and he gets to do more of that with a good team backing him.

Played some last night. Maybe I was tired but I don't see the hype. The world was bland, combat felt very mashy compared to some of the better action games out there and the camera at times was terrible for the style of game/combat.

I'm really liking it. The only issue I have is 2B's outfit. I like how shall we say stylish some of the moves, animations and finishers can be and the flourish to them.. But why the gap in the skirt so I can see her underwear pretty much all the time? Kinda annoying and puts me off. It's not as bad as Kaine but still. This is something I think my sister would enjoy but seeing something like that straight away may dissuade her

Can you say which country? Just wondering if PS+ is necessarily here in Portugal.
In the UK at least.

Every yokotaro game is different in their feeling but the off kilter uniqueness remains.

Drakengard 3 was bottom of the barrel budget wise, which surely ate a lot into how the game was structured as well.

Those aren't underwear, they are the bottom part of her leotard. Like Sailor moon

It's a leotard.

Actually, that should be the OT title. NieR: Automata |OT| It's a Leotard

Yep, D3 was made with shoestring and pocket lint. It also had a really, really fun combat system that I don't know how it came out so well. Intoner Mode was amazing.

The gameplay really clicked for me when I udnerstood I can dodge attacks with R2 and not just just it as a boost for running.

Really liked the music too, have no idea if it's out on YT though.

Funny how we can't even search the game on the PS4 PS Store because the mechanism doesn't let us type the letter E after I.

It's a Nier thing when the camera zooms out and you are suddenly playing a sidescroller or isometric diablo like game.
I hear people who play hundreads of hours of Character action games and see nothing but flaws in the combat of both bayonetta games and i don't want to have such a problem in my life. I am fine with being a scrub and only starting to learn to get good at these sort of games.

I was half expecting you to say you were right in being unsure about the game. Good to hear it's cemented your interest.

Yeah my expectations weren't that high to be honest. But now that I've plaed it I can definitely say I'm interested.

Does it really matter? Either way I don't want to see it under the skirt. They could have made the skirt a bit longer as well with all the flipping around she does.

I didn't play it yet, so maybe I'm underestimating how basic the combat is, but to people saying they're disappointed because of the combat depth compared to previous Platinum games, surely you mean Bayonetta? MGR didn't have a lot of mechanical depth at all. People didn't like to admit it at the time, but DmC has a lot more combat depth than MGR.

Of course, this doesn't mean anything when you have stuff like the color coded enemies, some pretty uninspired weapons and awful boss fights to go with that, and it didn't stop people from thinking MGR was a much better game, but that's exactly my point here. Combo potential is not the only form of gameplay depth. That boss battle they showed at E3 looks better than any boss fight in MGR, mechanically (imo, of course). And I absolutely love most of the bosses in MGR!

You can't just ignore the whole new layer of combat depth that the bullet hell elements bring, as well as the camera and genre shifting making for interesting gameplay scenarios and bosses.
