There's been some case of "attention whores" leakers or insiders over here on GAF, which are banned now.

Oh no doubt there were, I read through those threads but Laura seems to have a pretty decent track record at this point with multiple sources in dev, retail, marketing and manufacturing. Its crazy to see this weird internet lynch mob against her which to me seemingly sprouted up overnight, albeit probably has been growing over the weeks and I just wasn't aware.

Rayman Legends was originally touted as a Wii U exclusive as the release date came closer the game was delayed and released across all platforms, it launched the same week as a GTAV did, it still sold over 500,000 on Wii U, if I recall correctly(I think PS4 outdid it).
The only thing we've heard from Ubisoft in its multiplat sales of Rayman legends was that it sold best on Wii U...

What is this actually contradicting? I've been reading transcripts, and the only thing he mentions about hardware is how current hardware can make his vision possible, which implies that was the issue why it wasn't able to get to a point where it could actually be presented on PS3/360.

If the issue is that it's being announced too early as its now entering full development... well, it's not like people waiting for BG&E2 already are going to be particularly surprised.
The fact that it was announced by Ancel and not Nintendo is pretty weird. Entering pre production late 2016 when Laura Kate Dale said it was an NX exclusive at the beginning of 2016 is also a bit weird.
Talking about ambitious for modern hardware is also weird if it's on Switch

Cool. Will wait for PC.

Damn, people flipping out over a timed exclusive? Just relax. Everyone who wants to will get to play the game eventually. You've waited over a decade for the game, another year won't make much difference.

Not that weird. Itagaki was talking about Devil's Third before it was re-revealed as a Wii U game.

Apparently they'd rather the game didn't exist at all. "It won't sell anyway!" is such a hilariously sour bunch of grapes.

Yeah, some very strange reactions to this.

Yep, I'm not annoyed anymore if this news is true. I can wait a year.

Regardless of how it ultimately fares against XB1/PS4, Switch is still modern hardware and certainly far more capable than what's come before it from Nintendo.

One look at your post history, and it's clear where you're coming from. Why are you trying to elicit a negative response from me?

I'm not, problem is that You think Ubisoft had plans to release sequels of Beyond and somehow for being on Nintendo that will never happen, just like Bayo 2 being on Wii U going to ensure that Bayo 3 will never get made.

Still hype! Really looking forward to it. The original was one of my favorites of that generation. I don't mind waiting a year to pick this up on PC if Nintendo can't sell me a Switch before then. Gonna be fun.

I'd rather play this on PC, but possibly if Nintendo hadn't gotten involved, it might not have existed.
Also, Vivendi might still make that the case. And what does the Switch-maining mean for Ancel's claims of needing all that power to realize his vision for what this game should be? And what does (psxbox) digital only mean in regards to the budget Ubisoft allowed him?

Recent news are leading me to temper my expectations... Probably wasn't very difficult to foresee that if it were to happen at all, it wouldn't be this big AAA thing, but one wants to believe.

Still though, I've got faith that Ancel and team will be able to deliver something great. And it is quite ridiculous that it's actually happening, in X years, assuming it doesn't get canned.
What an amazing rollercoaster ride this game has been already.

The game has been in and out of production for years, and they've specifically asked that 360 and PS3 owners buy certain titles to ensure its release. From this, it can be deduced which platforms were originally the targets. So yes, I think if this is indeed true, Nintendo's involvement did change things much like Microsoft's involvement with Rise of the Tomb Raider did, but not in the way that you're saying.

I didn't say nor imply they had plans for sequels. I said that making the title timed exclusive hurts the title's chance of success, and it absolutely does. And while I didn't say or imply it, future titles do depend on the success of this one. So by extension, it would hurt future games if the outcome is different than it would have been. Though that's something we will ever really know the answer to given it's a smaller title.

Ugh, that means by the time it finally comes to the platform of my choice, I will likely have already been exposed to any spoilers and my enthusiasm for the game will be severely dwindled.
Stay safe, I ignored all Rise of the Tomb Raider threads until it came to PS4. That being said Beyond Good and Evil is way more important to me than Tomb Raider, maybe you'll end up getting a Switch for it? Depends if any other games do it for you.

Its how I feel about Tomb Raider

That says more about how you feel about Tomb Raider than it does about timed exclusives.

A game that you only care about when it's brand new probably isn't a game you need to play anyway. GTA V sold damn well on PC and it came out like a year and a half after original release.

And something tells me Nintendo had a hand in making BG&E2 coming to fruition. The original was a cult classic at best. Even Bayonetta probably has a bigger fanbase.

While I agree that timed exclusive sucks We don't know the terms between Ubi and Nintendo. If Ubisoft came to Nintendo offering the game and being like "you pay for the promotion and shit and We will make it exclusive for quite some time" I can't say Nintendo it's wrong for taking the offering.

Is the game a big enough deal to be the last game shown at the show? I wasn't sure from the wording if that's what they meant but I don't know that I'd have thought of it as an end of show reveal.

It's kinda funny how Laura can't control herself with leaks after first promising to stop and then a day or two ago saying she will leave the bigger stuff alone after going against what she previously said.

It seems to be a big deal with hardcore gamers going by this thread.

I'll agree to that. We don't really know if it's Nintendo or Ubi here since we don't know the terms of the agreement. Regardless, from my perspective, it doesn't look good in general.

The good news is that it's finally coming though, and perhaps that's what we should focus on. This isn't the first or last time a deal like this will be made.

I would consider it a big deal but I'm sure most wouldn't.

What game do you think we're likely to see that would be a better end-of-show reveal?

Can't blame her for wanting to pad her resume a little in the lead-up to the big reveal, just to add a little extra proof that she knew all along what she was talking about. It's not like people let up with their harassment of her and calling her a liar after she said she would stop leaking Switch info.

Watch the Switch SKU get delayed for a year, Ubi-style.

I would assume that it won't be the only thing they save for the end, and I especially don't think that Nintendo would end it on a third party game in particular. It is the kind of title that I would expect to be held for the back half.

For the record, Bayonetta 2 was part of the back half of the original Wii U launch presentation, but not anywhere near the end.

Why should she stop? Leak fucking everything all the time. Won't someone please think of the marketing execs!? Hype trains can die in a fire, just give us the information.

Well, if true, I'll likely end up not caring about it by the time it's out where I want to play it, just like Rise of the Tomb Raider. Maybe pick it up on a sale for a fraction of the cost during a slow Summer month where nothing brand new is coming out.

This comment made me angry, then laugh, then sad.
At least you won't have to explain to your kids why they won't be getting a game they were promised as a present.

I never said she should. I just think it's funny that Laura keeps saying she's going to stop only to leak something the next day.

Gonna have to wait n+1 to play the best version.

Also, I feel embarrassed for the first page poster asking for a thread lock.

No doubt it's big amongst a contingent of hardcore gamers, but I don't think it has the wide recongition or appeal for a very end of show showstopper.

I would consider it a big deal but I'm sure most wouldn't.

Yeah, I was thinking fans would probably feel along these lines. Thanks Jonneh.

What game do you think we're likely to see that would be a better end-of-show reveal?

No idea, honestly. I just want the show to end with a colossal bang and even the coolest looking BGE seems unlikely to have a massive effect, especially when we know it's coming.

Thanks for your thoughts, and for the info on Bayo. I completely agree and I'm looking forward to seeing what they show.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is supposed to be a big open game where you can travel to different planets.

It is completely understandable that people would not appreciate playing such a game on the Switch's diminished specs. No need to deride these people under the moniker of being fanboys.

I'm a customer who would prefer to remain informed so I can make the most appropriate purchase as to my taste and preference. Exclusives as a means to see an otherwise dead project funded are welcome (see: Bayonetta 2). Timed exclusives can fuck right off no matter what platform they're on.

If this is indeed true I welcome leaks like it, as it allows me to make a more informed purchase. Depending on my interest I may still buy the Switch build, but since I already have zero intention to buy multi-platform games on the Switch when I could grab them on my PC or PS4 knowing this now gives me the option to save my money and time and enjoy the game on my platform of choice later on.

Though I'm not at all implying it will happen, I'll note that I'll be pretty shitty if this becomes a trend with the Switch software library. I'm not interested in multiplatform games.

word...the appeal of this system is to get alllll the nintendo games and niche japanese titles on one system.

If I get it, I don't plan to buy a single game that I can get elsewhere unless I think the form factor fits really well (like double dipping on stardew valley).

In one region and during launch month. We never got info beyond that, but it didn't sell well on any platform.

I wouldn't expect any other major 3rd party titles tbh. Just ports.

Are you sure?

Ubisoft also saw operating income rise year-over-year, to €24.2 million, up from a €98 million loss. On a conference call with investors, CEO Yves Guillemot said the sales were driven largely by "Watch Dogs, digital movement and our back catalog," with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Far Cry 3, and Rayman Legends still selling well
