Me too. Wasn't there an interview before about some in the company asking him to try a new IP? I hope he decides to make one!

Yeah

”Actually, Nintendo has been telling me to create a new IP. But then, they're also telling me to make more Zelda games. I can't really share much; I'm not sure I'm allowed to say anything. But I really like the idea of a game where I can live as a thief. That's all I'll say."

I hope it happens. Wasn't too long ago. It sounds like he's working on something though

Didn't Aonuma tease he was doing a thief game around E3?

Edit: Here's the quote I'm thinking of:

“Actually, Nintendo has been telling me to create a new IP. But then, they’re also telling me to make more Zelda games. I can’t really share much; I’m not sure I’m allowed to say anything. But I really like the idea of a game where I can live as a thief. That’s all I’ll say.”

Koizumi as GM of Nintendo is great. I don't think there's any developer who has as much of a midas touch as that guy.

So are there going to be any surprises here? Or are we going to get a severely under powered machine with a new Mario game and a bunch of Wii U ports? I hope Nintendo still has a few surprises up its sleeves. *Crosses fingers.

Soraya Saga just tweeted this.

Please tell me that she did retweeted something before this... hyped if so

You will say wow

The Patents did show a VR shell. And there is discussion that VR is being examined but I suspect it will be a Switch 2.0 before VR happens

I keep seeing people doubt that Switch will support VR, and to that I say rethink your definition of VR. It's entirely possible that we'll get something like the Gear VR or Google Cardboard with Switch. Nintendo would take that approach way before they would ever make a PSVR competitor.

Was Liams tweet about the Switch supposedly having a VR shell discussed?

Not that anyone cares but I already talked about it from my source yesterday if you search my posts. Glad to see others backing it up.

I think this is likely based on what I've heard was shown to some 3rd party partners.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they'll show it in a reveal trailer as one of the wilder concepts (remember that weird Wii U Zapper that never materialised?), but I agree that it might be a Switch 2.0 concept.

The iPhone 7 (smaller one) is 750p and VR looks fine in it - noticeable screen door effect, but nothing horrible, especially with stylized graphics, which Nintendo would of course be using. The bigger problem is with Switch's size. Since it's bigger, it'll be heavier and will have to sit much further from the eyes in the headset to see everything through the lenses.

If Nintendo has a VR headset, then there is OBVIOUSLY some VR capability with the Switch. Like, come on. They wouldn't make a shell if they knew they couldn't at least test it.

All of the Mobile products compatible with GearVR are like 2560x1440 resolution

Maybe VR makes use of that supplemental power unit thing? And maybe the screen is 1440p just that if some games are taxing then they can scale down to 720p and if there's light games then it can use the full 1440p?

Nintendo exploring and experimenting with VR (even going as far as talking to devs about it), doesn't mean we'll see PSVR type of software on Switch. Resolution will limit things. I'm curious to see how VR is approached with Switch and the path they take. Whether they try to compete with PSVR or go a more accessible route like GearVR and have affordable and free games/experiences on the eShop. Re-release that Google App the Wii U eShop had as a VR experience.

Honestly I do not see why they could not simply do what they have always done. A year or two from now New Nintendo Switch with 1080P screen or whatever and changed enough so it can be 1080P undocked as well as docked. Enough of a boost in all areas to make VR slightly more feasible

That is certainly possible considering the VR Shell won't be available at launch. Right now their focus needs to be on getting Switch out and nailing the message of the new hardware. Supplementary things like VR can wait at this point.

A GearVR-like solution is more likely but isn't it possible that the Switch powers a HMD with a higher resolution screen built into it?
Retro will not make a Metroid game after the bomb known as Federation Farce.

Nintendo will not make a Metroid game after the desecration of the franchise known as Other M.

Does anyone out there have the balls to make a Metroid game anymore?
If we don't get a sequel to FF/Prime 3 that centers around Sylux or whatever his name is, I will change my avatar to the Bieb.

By the time Nintendo bother, if they bother releasing the VR headset, there will probably be a Switch Pro with 1080p screen or whatever which would be better for VR.

Unfortunately you're already seeing it. In that screenshot thread are people bashing its graphics endlessly.

They could do a better job with screenshots. They look rather poor.

As for the Neogaf hate and the Horizon console war, well Nintendo will just have to prove them wrong. If they can't and the game is disappointing, they'll have the right to gloat I guess. I don't think the games are that similar though. Horizon is much better technically but seem to rely on used and tried gameplay mechanics. Zelda looks a bit rough but seem more flexible in his approach of open worlds.

If Retro are making a game for me, It'll be a mech game. Alien environment, action and exploration. With multiplayer. Camera may be first person with top down camera sections.

Let's do it.
