You're acting as if we don't all know how Nintendo operates. If Zelda is coming in March, then of course Nintendo might sit on the Mario game until Christmas.
Or they could release it earlier. Galaxy 2 released in May. Emily is speculating, as are you. 3D Mario would make a great Holiday game, but it would also make a great post-launch release. Either is possible and Nintendo has a track record of doing both.

If we're talking third parties using first-party IP, I would love a 2.5D Metroid from Chair. They already made one with Shadow Complex, and I'd love to see what they learned from that applied to the actual Metroid IP.
All From would have to do for a Metroid game is is take Bloodborne, set it in a dark sci-fi world, focus the combat around ranged attacks instead of melee, ditch the RPG mechanics, add a Prime-like option to scan environmental details and call it Metroid Dread. It almost makes too much sense.

Game's already taking preorders, but they're not exactly 100% reliable. The best bet if you don't care about a midnight release is Amazon or ShopTo since they'll possibly open up preorders at 5/6am on Friday morning when most people will be sleeping.
I second this notion. Maybe they're the ones responsible for the "crazy new IP"?

If it is another DK I hope it's a Country/2.5D one. Returns was the best game on the Wii (IMO) and TF was one of the best on the WiiU.
I do prefer a proper Metroid (Prime or not) tho.
I feel like it's something more akin to the Wario Ware team, or the Nintendoland/Wii Sports one.

I have no opinion about whether both are ready for the Switch release, and sure, it would be great, but it does seem like a really bad idea. Even pushing one to summer, when there would be more stock or something, just seems like a much better business idea. I want them both too, but I think Nintendo really does need to spread those out a bit.
Obviously the red and the white seem to fall in line with their iconography. Red is the Mario color too. I'd say a bright red box is actually a pretty good bet.
Their the perfect dev for realising that initial 3rd person attempt at Metroid pre Prime's release and also their games are almost perfect realisations of the various dread steeped parts of Metroid Prime from Retro's efforts.
They basically tick all the boxes of what Retro brought to Metroid in the first person perspective but this time from the 3rd person perspective.
They do tension well, their environmental work is up there with the best, their story telling is very evocative imo of Retro's style, their enemy design is phenomenal, their level design is great when they start something new (Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne to be exact) and the lore they create for their worlds at the very least is as intricate and varied as Retro's lore for the Metroid series. Plus like Retro solely dependent on how bothered the player is to find it all or not and make the connections themselves.

Doesn't make much sense because of RUN release on mobile, and because I think that oneof the main reasons fo Nintendo going hybrid and killing WiiU releases was to put out a solid continous stream of games on Switch
if they go back to the usual release schedule policy....................

So as a former Gamestop employee I believe that list. Theres a lot of little things that make me believe its real partly because it doesn't have anything to crazy on it besides DQ 10 and while I've seen many people here say it'll never happen... Most of us pretty much thought the same about DQ7 and 8 coming out for the 3DS until they announced that as well and Square certainly seems to be making an active effort to make the series more well known in the west by releasing all the games they can over here I don't think its THAT crazy.

Emily said that it's on the same level as Splatoon, so I doubt it's a casual game.

I have put a preorder down at Game and I am also going to order one from Amazon to make sure I get one day one.
DQX is way more unbelievable than DQ7 and DQ8, solely because of the nature of DQX. It's an MMO. They're already struggling a lot to sell a single-player DQ game in the west, what sales disaster it would be for a MMO ?
It won't happen. I'm sure of it.
We saw that and NA never got Disaster: DoC, so I was a bit dissappointed as an avid(rabid) dweller of the Nintendo forums back in the day watching every trailer I could.
The WiiU didn't have games not see the light so much as uses of the touch screen that never made it into games.
So we'll see in a few days whether there are similar stories in the origonal reveal trailer for the switch. (Even though I'm sure it's real I will be VERY sad if Skyrim SE is not a real Switch game)

I think it would be alright to hold Mario until holidays if they don't have another title to bolster the Switch during the holiday season and if the release schedule is alright for the rest of the year. (Don't know if it is or not and Nintendo likes spacing out releases most of the time, for better or for worse.) Plus, it fits that Nintendo would delay a game like the new 3D Mario when we don't know much about it other than the footage from Switch reveal and vague rumors of how it'll play and that fits with how Nintendo usually has something during the holidays to boost sales on their platforms like Pokemon, Zelda and Mario titles over the years.
