where is that gif of 50 cent driving away laughing
Oh top of the page.
I'm not surprised, just a little disappointed.
I can deal with it though, but this looks like a Christmas 2017 purchase at this point.

Correction: 20-30 year old games.Exactly. You just know Nintendo looked at the monthly payout and wanted if even though they cant possibly justify charging monthly. They themselves know that there simply arent enough games on the system, or ever will be, to give 1-2 away monthly, so they went with the really cheap option of offering you games that are 10-20 years old instead. Lets not forget either that the amount of games with a robust online component will likely be few and far in between, unlike PS Plus and Xbox live gold.
After the free-trial period, most games will require a paid online service subscription from Nintendo in order to play online.
Fuck those people. But I've totally expected it. Back when Xbox 360 got away with it, I was flabbergasted. Not so much anymore. Fortunately I'm more of a single player guy.It was only a matter of time. XBLG and more recently PS+ have made it very obvious that people will accept a paywall. That's a lot of money to be leaving on the table.
"Most games" leaves room for games not requiring the service to offer online play for free, but on a game-by-game basis.

Man getting NES and SNES games for a month makes GwG look good. And I though MS regularly scrape the bottom of the barrel with that.
.
So when the trial is up, you will need a subscription to access the store? The image in the OP kinda implies that, which would be funny in a that's-pretty-shit way.
F2P is behind XBL Gold btw.F2P stuff I imagine. Same as on PSN and XBL.
Some people I know are absolutely insane about defending paid online subscriptions. I hear a lot of "since this costs money, it filters the idiots out." Years of playing on Xbox live says otherwise. I even hear this with free to play games. "I don't like that x game is free to play, it's going to bring a lot of bad people into the game community."It's interesting in that many, many people I know exclusively justify online subs on PS and XB1 with the big shooters of November they play throughout the year.
COD. Battlefield. Battlefront. Titanfall. And a few others.
I honestly can't see the Switch getting anywhere decent ports judging by the tech disparity, and that's of they get ports at all

I'm in the same boat. Was debating over a new graphics card for the PC or Switch, but with this I'm going for the new graphics card for sure.I was on the fence with the Switch, but this pretty much pushed me off. I still hope it does well though.
Guess I'm not getting the Switch then. Shame.
- Monthly game download
- Subscribers will get to download and play a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super NES) game (with newly-added online play) for free for a month.

Well people wanted Nintendo to get serious about online services.
Exactly.
These things dont pay for themselves.
But to get people to start paying, they need to have an initial period where they goddamn make it attractive to get people through the door.
1 NES or SNES game for one month is a TERRIBLE press release line to run with.
^If it has a yearly option then its like GwG and PS+.
Exactly.

I'll think of it as a monster hunter subscription for a few months.
They don't, but if paying gets you voice chat via phone, one rental a month that disapears again, and p2p matchmaking, I wonder what the customer is paying for.
That's really poor value.
And i dout this will bring any improvement in terms of infrastructure like download speeds, which are atrocious on the WiiU and 3DS.
I actually think they don't know this. Nintendo has shown an inability to deliver services outside of games for the last 10 years. Look at the wii u OS; how shitty it is. Then look at the the e store in general and their screwed up account system. They are messed up, Everything Nintendo does outside of game development is terrible( yes I am including hardware) IMO. I have spent thousands over the years on Xbox and ps4 online stores, I have probably spent 100 dollars on Nintendo online stuff because of these issues. I don't mind them charging for online but they need to show that they are delivering serious improvements across the board. However I think they don't understand that anything is wrong though so I don't think changes are coming except the paywall. They do know they are not good at online and are at the bottom of the barrel, right?
And it's not "free" if you're paying for it.Wait, maybe I'm reading it wrong but, can you only play the game for free in that month???
You thought PSN was bad???
Prepare your ANUS for Nintendo online LOL
Someone knows for sure if that "play a NES/SNES game for free for just a month" is true?
I'm so confused >_<
