This would actually be easy: Trump has given them an easy out with his unapologetic refusal to give up his conflict of interest. They could easily find him guilty of that and frame it as him lining his own pockets. There's a very easy path to a coup to take out Trump without even mentioning Russia. And the Dems wouldn't make a peep.

Yeah, I originally wrote that we may never know because they will choose not to reveal it, but it felt too conspiracy theory so I deleted it. Seems like a hard secret to keep especially involving Congress and hundreds of people; does the world really work like that? *shrugs*

It's all speculative though until hard evidence is revealed. It may not be true. Trump may just be an incompetent, talentless, venal, self-serving, corrupt, racist, sexist, fascist, elitist piece of shit who is willing to openly serve Russian interests over US and Western interests merely because he likes Putin. *shrugs*

As someone who grew up with a narcissistic sociopath for a father, the similarities between the two are unsettling.
Can't even imagine living in the same house with Trump or working with him on a daily basis. We only get little glimpses at his behavior and mannerisms, and what we do get to see ain't pretty.

Wow, good point... Manipulative and emotionally abusive behavior is hard enough to handle on an interpersonal scale, it's disconcerting to think what that will look like when magnified to a global level.

I feel like this scandal is fizzling out of mainstream media. I imagine big developments, if any, are purely under the surface right now? Nothing new has come out in a few days yeah?

well, most likely nothing is gonna come of it.

and DT tweeted about SNL so we need to block at least 8 hours off for coverage of that

CNN had the Watergate guys on earlier. They're at least still covering the ramifications if these allegations are true.

We probably won't get much until the investigation is done, if it finds anything of substance to act on, and if they decide to even act on it.

This is going to take a while. There's a chance that nothing may ever come out from this given that the entire report seems to rely on human intelligence that is hard to corroborate and that Trump will probably try to block the IC from dwelving any further as soon as he steps into the White House.

The damning thing about the report is that it automatically framed Trump as somebody who can't be trusted, as if his general antics weren't enough. The stench of treason will follow him wherever he goes and investigative journalists will have him on their crosshairs until he dies.

The final, definitive "Thanks, Obama" meme has surfaced.

TBH, I also believe that's the reasons the GOP agreed to the officals investigation because it will take this scandle off public eyes for a while and as we know GOP holds the power, they wouldn't let this investigation come to full fruition. In the end it would be nothing so either way it is a win win for them...I do wish I am very wrong on this though.

I think both Putin and Trump forget 1 important thing.
the U.S and Russia aren't friends and haven't been. So them praising and helping each other out with kind words only further add suspicions to the treason claim. They would have zero reason to praise each other even if both want to forge a better relationship, as nations. They make this whole thing appear too personal and maybe that's just what it is.

Hard to believe Putin actually has to defend Trump openly like this.

It's almost as if he feels cornered, as if he feels his beautiful plan is braking apart.

But I shouldn't be too optimistic.

I don't think they are forgetting anything. They just know that they can casually dismiss all these claims against them, and without any hard proof nobody can do anything. The time for soft proof in the form of suspicions was during the election, and the American public failed hard. Putin is completely smug, and has been since the election ended. I remember commenting on the giant smirk Putin couldn't help but have on his face in his initial media responses to the results.

I don't see any way Putin doesn't benefit from this.

Truth comes out and Trump is removed, the faith in US elections and their political stability permanently damaged nationally and internationally. Russia displays immense amount of real power without firing a shot as the rest of the world loses confidence in America.

Truth doesn't come out/story was fabricated, Putin gains a sympathiser in the highest seat of the most powerful nation in the world. Russia gets to throw its weight around as the rest of the world loses confidence in America.

No matter how this ends it's Russia + and US -

America just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about American culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in Russia where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in America, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the American public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to watch the inauguration, nor will they accept Trump as a legitimate president. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but America has alienated the entire world with this move.

America, publicly apologize and cancel the Trump presidency or you can kiss your business goodbye.

It just occurred to me,why would Putin care if Trump care if Trump is seen as legitimate or not? Since when do they care about drama about the US president?

Can you see Russia saying "Why would Bill Clinton need Monica Lewinsky?"

Pretty telling that they even comment.

Maybe it's proactive defence.

They don't want to lose their little puppet boy

I want to know whether or not those prostitutes did actually get paid considering Trump's history with subcontractors.

Only if they did a good job that was worth the money.

Oddly I feel him admitting he uses their service but doesn't pay them will actually sell well with his supporters.
