Good news. I enjoyed the game and felt it could have been so much more. That being said, definitely interested to see where they go with FFXVI. They need to learn from CD Project.

Some of them do I don't deny that, I also don't deny that, that group can be pretty big. But I speak about mass market trends and it generally has proven it doesn't give a fuck about story most of the time. You don't even need to limit yourself to games. You can look at movies too and see the same kind of thing. The biggest stuff can have a good story but soooooo much shitty stuff that is just huge earns millions just on the basis being big action bucks.
Books are kind of exempt of this cause if you're reading a book for spectacle then what the fuck you're doing?(jk) My point is readers engage generally for very different reason in the medium compared to movie watchers and gamers.
As for your Uncharted 4 example, I'm pretty sure a huge majority did not know about U4 not being as spectacle focused before buying it. Lots of them will just go by name and pedigree. So the argument on the basis of informed buyers doesn't really work all that well.

There was an NPD leak in early 2009 that put Persona 4 at 123k. I dont remember if it included Jan 2009, so it was either 1 or 2 months of Persona 4 (which launched Dec 2008).
I doubt the Vita version debuted higher in the US.

As long as Tabata keeps the criticisms he faced over how he writes women in mind... I wouldn't mind this. XIV is fantastic so I would love to see Yoshi-P take a stab at a single player title. Bet it would be fun as hell.

Can only talk to the charts, TLG made the PS4 top 10, DR4 did not make the Xbox One top 10. Extrapolate from there if you wish.

Wow, really?! Well I doubt it only did 300k on Xbox. That'd be a HUGE difference but it is possible. PS4 doing most of the work. I'd guess 70/30 though to be more conservative.
Any interesting info you can give that we can't already infer from the PR/data we have?

It's an odd game.
It's the MGSV of the franchise. Interesting open world with a well done gameplay system, but narrative wise a mess and ultimately feeling like it was left unfinished.

Eh. Pretty mediocre game. Sales seem about right considering how much money they invested in marketing and promotional material.
I mean, taste is subjective, but either you have a narrow sampling of the generation or you are a crazy fanboy.
I could accept it as someone's game of the year, but game of the generation??
