Any of you kind folk with a beta code and PS VR kindly tell us if SBS video is supported via the media player?

I know it says blu-ray but I still have hope.

Hey, now that they finally delivered on external drive support, can someone recommend me a good 2-3 TB external HDD?

i doubt it. i'm sure once it's formatted then it will be encrypted and keyed to your console. i'd love to be wrong though

Actually according to the blog post:
Just plug a USB 3.0 HDD into your PS4, and voilà, you now have more space on the console.

This seems to imply that there is no formatting step, and that it can simply store content on FAT32 or whatever.

Still waiting for PS1 compatibility on PS4... I mean at least digital purchases... :(

I don't care much about external hdd, but maybe i will try it.

I have to delete so much stuff on my 1.5 TB HDD, it can't hold everything and upgrading to a 2TB would have only allowed the extra stuff I deleted to be installed and nothing new. Now I can have everything installed and not have to worry!

Same question, but more interested in over/under than SBS. Dunno if the existence of one insures the other or if they're separate entities.

The particle dynamic theme (introduced with 4.0?) got three more colours. It looks awesome in black!

Someone check if there is an option to enable 2160p on 1080p display in system settings please. Thanks!

Incredible update but i have one big question if anyone knows or already answered.

Can i take my external usb hdd and plug it to my friends PS4 and play my games ? by logging to my account of course. Just like Xbox One ?

That woudl make 0 sense even with a downsampling feature.
You are selecting your TV output resolution, not the game rendering resolution.

Great features with external hdd support and boost mode for Pro.
Custom wallpapers finally as well...I missed them, I used the feature a lot on PS3.

Nothing there that excites me. External Hdd is cool but i still have about 800GB free so yeah...

The notifications sound like a downgrade to be honest. Do you need to scroll away down to find a game you are downloading now? That shouldn't really be in notifications. Just let me check speed/progress at the game tile. Only show a notification when a download starts/pauses or finishes.

Nice! I was so close to buying an internal 2tb firecuda in january. Maybe i will buy an internal 1tb in replacement of my original 500gb hdd because is not working like it should. (i can't access the safe mode for example).

If anyone can recommend some models of brands of hdd 3.0 usb models or brands will be apreciated.

Curious if you could select a custom wallpaper but utilize the icons of a custom theme? Care to explore this?

Not possible. Custom theme let's you:
- choose a wallpaper
- fade out the function are or something
- choose a background colour for all other menus, such as settings, friends, etc.

Notifications is now a single list of all notifications. You can hit options and select Downloads or Uploads to just display these. Definitely is more cluttered this imho.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Can it only see one hdd at a time or total combined storage?

Instead of having to transfer 500 odd gigs off the internal can i just start installing newer shit on the external and the console will see both internal and external data at the same time?

Ugh... that would make perfect sense. See Windows OS downsampling for borderless windowed games without built in supersampling options on PC. Also i am sure games just make a simple display modes request from PS4 OS while they are launching and choose in which mode to render their framebuffers according to that information.

Sorry if this has been highlighted in the thread already but when's the ETA on this? How long do these updates stay in beta _generally_?

Am i the only one who happy about custom wallpaper? lol

No its my most wanted thing. Im stoked. With the ps ui there is so much room for a nice custom wallpaper. Excite.

Unlike the xbox ui ill actually be able to see the wallpaper.

Next i want an option for slideshow wallpapers
