Some information for anybody who may have this pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store as some people may have problems with the pre-order due to a known issue.

I pre-ordered the "standard" edition a week or so ago in the UK and it went into the Purchased section of my Library as expected.

On Friday last week however I was surprised to see that my pre-order was no longer listed there or in the web store, it was also no longer showing in my Purchase History online. It was almost as if it had been cancelled but no refund had been issued.

I did also pre-order Torment: Tides of Numenera pre-ordered at about the same time and that is still exactly as it should be.

I was slightly concerned so I contacted @AskPS_UK on Twitter and after a couple of messages I was invited to a Live Chat via a link the sent me. I spoke to somebody who was perfect with me and confirmed that it was still showing on their system that it was pre-ordered and that it may well be fine by launch but she dirndl want to chance. She asked for screenshots of the Store page where it was asking me to pay again, Purchase History, etc and stated that it was really strange as she'd never seen anything like it before but she would escalate it for me.

Today I received this email from the last that I'd spoken to, as follows.

Sooooo, I'm hoping that's the end of the issues I've had with it. Slightly concerning at first but they have three weeks to fix it as it's not out until 1st March here.

You may want to check you're own pre-order and if they don't sort it out in "the next few" days then I'd recommend doing what I did. You may want to contact them before then if you are having the same issue.

I'll quote myself and update this when anything changes in relation to the pre-order. I thought it was worth mentioning as there may be other people with the same problem.

Its been a while since I've played it but I'm pretty sure Dragon's Dogma had a similar idea to fast travel. You could use it but it required a specific resource to use.

I liked dragon's dogma's way cause it gave an in game reason why you suddenly were whisked somewhere (as well as making it something you just couldn't do willy nilly). One reason I refuse to use fast travel is for me it breaks immersion. I like rpgs to immerse me and make me feel like I'm the one doing the journey.

Only time I'll use fast travel is if there is a reasonable in game explanation on why you suddenly went here to there (that doesn't rely on "we're just skipping the boring parts and letting you not experience the travel") and it is limited. So Fallout 4 I actually did use fast travel when I discovered the institute cause I was using their tech. But I had to fast travel to them first (because their tech only took you in and out of their base) and use their base to fast travel elsewhere. And I decided my character really hated the feeling of being teloported so she only did so when she absolutely needed to (like a base of hers was being attacked). Yeah they were my own self imposed limits but I have to be able to use it in a way that doesn't break immersion and doesn't let me skip the journey too often for me to like it. Otherwise fast travel to me really cheapens an open world game to me and ruins a big reason why I enjoy them. ONly other time I use it is if I'm getting bored of the game and just want to finish it. Like what happened to witcher 3 at the end where story was really the only thing keeping me interested in the game and the world was getting kinda boring to me).

I suspect I'll still refuse to use fast travel here because it only fits one of the criteria (that it's not an unlimited ability and you do have limits on how often you can do it so you have to be careful with its use. It still doesn't explain the magical poofing from one place to another).

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

I try to avoid fast travel for the same reasons but it depends on the game. I think fast travel should be a tool to use on occassion but shouldn't be something used all the time. That obviously depends on the gamer but I think open world games should encourage actually traveling to and from locations as much as possible. Whether that is by reducing pointless back and forth's across the map for poorly designed quests or making the open world spontaneous and reactive while providing just enough interesting things to do without bogging down the map with cut and paste clutter. Its actually incredibly hard to do so I can see why fast travel is a bit of a crutch for some.

I actually loved RDR because I really enjoyed the world it create and found it beautiful and memorable enough, with just enough to do, that I loved riding all over the Old West.

I like when they do both. I like the random encounters cause to me part of playing a roleplaying game is the journey itself. The random encounters make the journey interesting (but not when they are the same ones every time. Part of the problem of Witcher 3 was that you pretty much got certain spots that always spawned certain things so it was always the same even if you got an encounter. One thing Fallout 4 does that is nice is you get truly random encounters if you haven't been in the area in a while, you get some spots that do get the same mobs where it makes sense those mobs would be, and you have some hot spots that there always is something random happening - like the downed airplane on the northeast of the map).

I wasn't a fan of RDR's world mainly cause their random encounters were limited to 5 events (maybe less, few enough that it couldn't even give the illusion of randomness and felt less natural and more forced). And I know I'm in the minority on this part but the world felt kinda samey to me. Oh, is it the sheriff who lost track of two felons... shoot, I don't even remember the other random events cause it almost always was the sheriff it seems. I liked RDR at first and was in love at first but a bunch of different things had me change my mind on it (it wasn't just the repeating random events though yes they got really annoying but the storyline in mexico had several things that really pissed me off. It got better after that but it already got tarnished by the time I got through the mexico arc).

I think they refined that better in GTA V by having a lot more different random events that many were unique even (not always, that guy whose wife throws him out will happen more than once). I mean I know Bethesda tends to have a list of random events too like RDR, but it's enough different ones that it doesn't get as obvious as quick (plus with Fallout 4 you could have different random events happening at once which would create new situations). Plus it was stuff like you encounter a band of super mutants... there wasn't a specific storyline like them asking you to help them round up some bandits. So it felt a little more natural cause yeah, you will have super mutants wondering around that world but not so specific that it feels weird you are in teh same situation yet again (Oh gee, it's another sheriff who happened to lose two bandits and it is always two bandits).

From Waypoint's video:

- I like that, besides shooting off parts, you can use different ammo for a different effect
- I wonder if that machine componments lists means that more advanced enemies will have more parts layered on top of them

Sony must be extremely confident in the game if so. Even Uncharted 4 only had its review embargo lifted a week before release. 90+ MC score confirmed? :p
Sony does seem confident in the game but I think this is also to let reviewers have ample time with it if it is a large title. Gotta get it out early for that.

Still remember the days of the God of War 2 reviews hitting like a month before the game even launched lol. Always a good sign when a company is confident in their product.

Yeah, if it is Horizon or Zelda, it is certainly because of how big the games are. They'll need a lot of time to digest everything. Even so, this is still rather early.

I figured codes would go out next week or so.

It sounds like they'll need to cancel it on their side and pre-order it again.

Once my pre-order is back I'll post in here and maybe people should think about contacting them then if theirs still isn't working or people panicking because they've received the email advising them their pre-order has now been cancelled.

EDIT:
Sorry for taking up big lumps of this thread about previews, I know that it's off topic but I just want to make sure that anybody who comes here panicking with this issue can see that it is a known issue and that it's hopefully nothing to worry about.

I was literally just popping into to bring this up, what a relief to hear I'm not the only one. I just received the PSN message too. :)

There we go, I wasn't sure if I was completely wasting my time posting it here. 🙂

I assume that because you're receiving that message that it's all happening automatically and we're hopefully not going to have to do any more. Was your pre-order i the UK store also?

It was indeed - I preordered the digital deluxe edition. Considering the issue doesn't seem to be widespread, it may be UK only.

Ah, that may be it then. At least they were aware of the issue and are already sorting it out for people.

For all the issues that people appear to have on here with their customer services, the few times that I've been in touch with them they've been absolutely spot on for me...as long as this i sorted out by launch.

Going to be some nice vids focusing on specific machines. Should be starting today throughout the week. :)

my man.gifv

always bringing the good news.

i hope GG releases a DLC and you play as a baby Thunderjaw fighting to become the apex predator when you reach adulthood, i know it wont happen like my Killzone/Helghast Commandos fantasies but one can only believe!

It's not only UK I guess. I'm from Portugal (PT) and had the same message delivered to me! Was getting worried in the last couple of days, glad they noticed the problem.

Ah, it may be the whole region then.

Due to what the message said I'm assuming that we'll get an email confirmation of having pre-ordered the game again at some point, like we did the first time. It would be worth people mentioning that when they get it, at least people will know if other people have received it and that there may be something wrong if they don't.

Good catch!! i think its a Cauldron , but can't be sure.

I've seen more of the video. I guess its just a random cave you find while exploring, since later on the video he shows the entrace to a cauldron!

Can't wait to explore every little spot on the map, so exciting.

Could be! In Playstation access preview they showed some snippets of the cave with futuristic armor, and this is looking something like that cave.

i think the previewers don't get to capture the cauldron at all.

Yeah, there was another clip showing Aloy in a cave with a puzzle to re-power a storage facility so she could get an armour suit.

Some footage I haven't seen before, is this a cauldron or just a cave? Beware SPOILERS:

I was under impression that cauldron is a still functioning factories for the robots. which is why clearing cauldron give you ability to override certain robots, since those are their factories.

that said, the caves looks a lot bigger than I expected
