Horizon Zero Dawn SPOILERS Thread

Maybe she is human and her family has something to do with why the machines exist in the first place. Or at least they knew things and did things on their own without the tribe. She's all that's left of her family and maybe Rost had a relationship with them which is why she was given to him to look over.

It seems quite blatant

- Not supposed to interact with the ruins of the Metal World
- Rost was supposed to look after her, but not grow attached
- She isn't considered a child by the other priestesses

All signs point to her being artificial.

You got it all wrong. She is the only human!

All signs point to her being artificial.

Yet on the flipside:

- Grows and apparently ages like a normal human.
- Capable of advanced verbal communication while the most advanced robots we see still just grunt and squeal.
- Actively fighting against other machines - to have the above advanced features as a machine and not be self-aware enough to question that seems unlikely.

I don't think it's a done deal just yet. At least, I hope not. I really don't want that to be the twist.

* Comments based purely on what's out there already and has been seen in this very thread - playing through for review myself but beholden to strict embargo, unlike those who have been lucky enough to get the game early via other means. Happy (and eager!) to chime in fully round these parts as soon as that lifts.

Plus you and couple others made comments last night after I posted the picture of the kid. That's one of the reasons I bailed out. Sometimes you guys really freak me the fuck out on here.

I don't get what you're getting at but are you sure this is the hill you want to die on? What is freaky about thinking young Aloy is cute?

I don't really see how that's creepy.

I like her being a flesh n bone clone, rather than an android or cyborg.
That too. But, either machine or bio-mechanical or a clone of an ancient one, she's definitely not a normal human going by the reactions towards her

Yeah, I could see that. It'd be cool if she was just a normal human baby that was found in a cryo pod or something in one of the ruins.
Or this

Actually this probably makes the most sense, would explain how she could use the ancient scanner, how she can age, and why the others consider her inhuman

A Superman story essentially. The world is ending, parents send their child to a new world (here being the future) to escape destruction and live a better life

Oh wow, I actually really like this Superman idea. That probably plays in extremely well with the end of the modern world and all the little snippets we've gotten over the various trailers.

Nothing that's a huge twist, but would work wonderfully if executed well.

The intro was fantastic. I have not felt such "personality" from a game since the last of us, I loved how alloy enjoyed the dad sayin happy birthday to his son, that was such a happy moment for her, and when she tried to joined in with the others to collect berries and was rejected, heart breaking, if the rest of the game is this done as well as these opening movements, then I can see why sony is backing this game so hard, they have a winner here.

Think your overreacting here bud. Also those are the only shots you provided of course more talk will mostly about those shots and also Young Aloy was not shown much in other media mainly old Aloy, what are they meant to say other than that, chubby?

Finally watched a bit more of the second video. The birthday hologram scene...

That was really damn good. I was always reserved about the story and writing in Horizon but damn, I'm feeling that hype!

Thanks for the videos @The Lamp, Thankfully i'm one of those people that really doesn't mind getting spoiled, I'm still buying and gonna enjoy the either way.

Erm ... You do realise this says more about you than the other poster, right?

😂 This. Wasn't gonna say anything because I don't want to anger one of our few sources of info. In any case, young Aloy is really cute and I can't get over how fine adult Aloy is.
