It get's worse. I just watched the unboxing and noticed no manufacturer seal....
He opened it, got called, reboxed it, and made a proper unboxing video. All in the span of a few hours.

Nintendo rarely seals hardware.Unless we can get footage post wipe, I'm still #teamstuckpixel.
I'm not actually serious, but some of us are gonna get dead pixels, it's inevitable

I believe that most software developers do mandatory Day 1 patches just in case something like this happens. Reviewers would get shipped physical review copies.Well shouldn't eshop or other online functions be up soon because reviewers have the switch now?
Maybe that can still happen
Gonna need hiphoptherobot to take the hit and download that eShop update. If you really want to impress gaf its the next logical step
Oh crap, I need to know something on the topic of Wi-Fi. Does this support proper WPA-2 or whatever, the kind of Wi-Fi that needs a username and password?
Did he download any Gamecube games? How's Zelda BOTW? any Day1 Update? Can you create ugly Mii's because that's very important to me? What happens if you drop the console (can you try it?)
seriously, the wait is killing me
Look along here (sorry for the crap arrows). It's on the first video here https://vid.me/oQkO During the white screen I can literally see the strip of edge lighting
Im pretty sure 90 percent of them are gaf themselves. Dont be fooled cause it say youtubeI don't know, but it's the same old "Sony paid shills" and "SJWs" stuff that people have been saying about GAF.
Not to mention the use of homophobia and accusing GAF of shitting on anything non Sony or whatever.
I just think it's funny seeing people getting so angry over GAF and making the most baseless assumptions and childish remarks.
First video has 1 million views, damn!
On the Mii note, though, pretty sure you can make Miis because you can use them for your user avatar. They may not serve any purpose beyond that here, though?
A plea to Nintendo from a life-long fan:
Can you please release the Switch a little bit sooner?
'k, thanks, bye

Within the UI, probably not. But games will still use them.
he said he tried and got an error message, I believe
Did he said he would try Mii Maker soon? I want to see what kind of new additions we are going to get for Mii Maker.
I was expecting a "create or link My Nintendo" prompt during the initialization. I guess that only happens once you access the eshop?
Just in case people "missed it" lolcan confirm it is dust. No dead pixels. (dust was on top of screen, not below.)
Both 3DS and Wii U already supported this.
Does he have zelda?
most likely that. I kinda like they skipped it during initial setup as new ppl who buy it and want to play physical game can straight away play (after forced system update obviously) w/o spending time creating nintendo account
Anyone with an existing Nintendo Account, should have a Mii - and it may appear when you create a new Nintendo Account on the Switch
He's talking about WPA2-Enterprise, which is severely undersupported on consoles. My college campus used it, and I couldn't connect anything other than my laptop and smartphone.
Yeah, You can add text to pictures and resize and color said text. I recorded some video of it but was too blurry so I deleted it.

Speculation: It's an odd UI choice. The console goes from joycon mode to touchscreen mode when you touch the screen in joycon mode. Once the mode is changed it takes "one" button press to confirm an input. Why does it seem to take two taps before the nav switches to a new section? Either it's sluggish or an odd UI choice.

How can the mystery still not be solved. Web applet for Wifi logins - yes or no?!

The "reset cache" option in the unboxing, right before the initializing said that it will delete all history, passwords, and cookies, so there's a web browser of some sort. How can the mystery still not be solved. Web applet for Wifi logins - yes or no?!
It didn't start up with the signature Switch *click*?

While I do like the minimalist UI, I will admit that it's a bit funny to have the completely barren main screen greet you after setup. Like, even without a game, the Wii and 3DS had colorful icons all around to invite using some of its apps, and they're tucked away here. Just a minor thing, but it doesn't mean anything.

I mean, I think it has to. I don't think Nintendo is that incompetent. But yes, I see what you're saying. We know the Switch supports a Web Applet for web integration in games and apps. The eShop is also likely to have a search history and store passwords, if it uses the Web Applet as well, cookies too.
None of that means that Nintendo has accounted for a Web Applet for general use of logging in to Wifi spots that require sign in that way. This is the question that needs to be answered, it's not a matter of the tech existing or not.
