Well if that last piece is true at all, I wouldn't expect any type of refund. And was probably a good idea to send it back.

Just hope it got sent to Nintendo.

The idea of getting one shipped two weeks early never made much sense.

admittedly, that's what I thought.
But, I mean, he could've just lied to everyone and instead openly said that they got it back and so on. So whatever happened - or more like, whoever gave it to him, I'd like to think he was just being naive.

Well I am a barista and we dont usually carry Nintendo products at the cafe. And I am sure it is frustrating that I cant share more details but I am not sure what I can or cant share. For the sake of clarification I will say that I don't think the person I got it from knew and therefore I certainly didn't know but somewhere down the chain some switches had "mysteriously disappeared". So while it was unknown to me, once I found out that it had probably been stolen I did't feel comfortable keeping it.

I kinda feel like if I was buying an unreleased new hot ticket item from a random guy two weeks before release....I could probably guess it wasn't obtained legally.

I mean, first he said he got it shipped early by a retailer, but how would they get a hold of an illegally obtained Switch? There's no way a legit retailer would be shipping around stolen consoles.

Because he lied about it being shipped from a retailer. He literally just told us he got it from a person.

No fooling the ninjas at Nintendo. Stolen property!

What's even more odd in this story is that HHR says he was going to return the Switch because of life issues (house, baby, something like that) that needed the money.

But, that would have involved getting it from a retailer, not someone off the streets.

The worst part about this is Hiphop didn't even check to see if the Switch could connect to a web-secured hotspot or the new Mii options.

Man you kinda fucked up hiphop. Shouldn't have posted that you got it on GAF. Should have just made the video and posted it on Reddit or something and let it leak naturally. Then you'd still have a Switch.

I feel bad. He was just trying to get a tag. We should all pitch in $2-$5, then he'd be reimbursed.

Yeah a company doesn't just go after 1 unit and not consider reimbursing the owner had something dodgy not happened.

Sorry HH but something doesn't add up. You get it from retail, then it's not?

Let's wait to hear the facts before we all start firing shots at Nintendo, no?

Screen and UI look good. Speakers may be tinny. Hard to tell with this quality video, but they seem pretty not great. But most people would be using headphones I'd guess.

I believe he was talking about selling it to someone else. Not returning it where he got it.

I would rather not stir up any negativity with Nintendo right now honestly. And I wouldn't be surprised if they get me a replacement console or something. It just hasn't been discussed as of yet. I'm not angry with them so other people dont need to get angry with them on my behalf..

This is really unbelievable and I think there's something you're not telling us about how you got that console.

Nobody just loses out on a $300 purchase and shrugs their shoulders unless they have big big money.

Yeah I'm pretty confused. If HHR paid legitimately and got it shipped early, why would he be out a console and 330 dollars? Wouldn't the only reasonable thing be to give it back if they asked, and get it at launch with everyone else?

Dude, read the rest of the thread.

To save infinity pages, tl;dr? Now there's mention of stealing it?

Cuz he didn't get it legit from a store. He bought it off a person. It wasn't an early shipment like previously thought.

From the other thread:

WadeitOut said:
Before people start jumping to the 8th conclusion here, he tried selling it before any of the stuff with the UI video was made and he showed off pictures. Not after. People convinced him to keep it and show stuff.

That was the entire reason you got those dank unboxing/ui videos you drooled over.

Please don't spread the narrative of malicious intent. Witch hunts are among the worst aspects of the Internet.

That thread got closed

let the mods sort it out

We know the details. He doesnt have it anymore and likely wont get his money back

Hey he gave us a great scoop and its not like he did the stealing. He said he paid and im inclined to at least believe that part of his story

Not only did he buy stolen goods, he tried to sell stolen goods.

Don't spread this trash again. He tried selling it BEFORE he showed the stuff off. That's how people ended up convincing him to keep it and record stuff.

And as far as we know he didn't know it was actually stolen.
