Just shows how silly the "But Guerilla" posts were.

I can't believe some are saying it's even better than UC4 in both graphics and story.

What a monumental achievement by GG.

Pretty impressive that with a couple of Sony studios faltering, Guerilla was able to get a decent game out for launch and now a really good game out not terribly long after. Props to them for that. Clearly some talented people over there.

Largely everyone echoing the great story is the most surprising thing to me. If you told me that a little while ago, I wouldn't believe you.

what the fuck, almost 60 hours of gameplay and destructiod says its short? dafuq. I was hoping for 10-15 hours, which I still don't even consider too short, heh

Awesome scores so far, a few lower ones, but that's to be expected with any game really. Biggest thing I am excited about is that the story is resonating with so many reviewers.

Pretty damn good reviews in general, although has your usual skew as is typical. The US gamer review is somewhat incoherent, but seems to come down to a lack of personal resonance. It shouldnt be: 'is it any good?' It should be: 'Did I like it?' That is how it reads. It is also a bit reducto ad absurdum in some of the main criticisms to do with mission structure.

Is it just me or everyone is praising the story?

That is amazing since I thought that would be the worst part of the game.

Day 1.

Yeah, it's pretty surprising. I knew the moment to moment gameplay would be great, but I had no expectations for the story. And yes, I know a writer from New Vegas worked on the game. I still wasn't expecting much. So this is a nice surprise and, combined with the great combat mechanics, means I'll pick this up next week for sure.

The Eurogamer review is pretty interesting. I feared the game would be too similar to other open world games.

This does worry me though. I think the great combat will save it for me, fortunately. I'm fairly certain that aspect alone will put this way over a game like The Witcher 3 for me.

What is that lone quote in the OP from?

Where's that dude who said he was sick of open world games but if the story was good enough (which he doubted), he would check it out? Put your money where your mouth is.

i still wouldn't believe it. video game reviewers have pretty low standards when it comes to storytelling. not to say that is specifically the case here though - just that i'm still skeptical on that aspect. i'm looking forward to the open world and hunting aspects of horizon. it looks like a lot of fun.

Cant wait now only thing that is going to annoy me is that in the UK we have to wait until march the 1st, a whole extra day, multiply that by the metacritic score amd the wait is going to be unbearable.

not gonna sit here and dissect certain reviews but that USgamer review lol....

and like someone else said, destructoid saying almost 60hrs to complete is too short is simply lunacy

Massive congrats to GG - really pleased they've been able to make something this good.

Those EG / USG reviews doe... EG going in hard with the "lack of spark" comments (translation: We can't think of anything else to criticise it for).

I'm surprised it got such high scores from Jim Sterling, Polygon and Jeff Gerstman though! High praise indeed.

It'll probably settle somewhere between 88-90 MC once all the reviews are in.

What an excellent way to launch a new IP, and potentially a new franchise.

Bravo, GG.

Horizon, Zelda and the Switch are all arriving on the same day for me.

I think I might play Zelda first, I don't think it will hold up if I play Horizon before it.

I can almost hear the cheers coming out of Amsterdam right now.

Being in Amsterdam as we speak. The whole city is shacking with jumping people and parades are dancing the streets with balloons and live music. I kid you not
