Embargo on Nintendo Switch console/games previews lift on February 23th / March 1st

I've just seen assets but they are 9/10 cool.

So no "too much grass, 7.8/10"?

Yes, it looks amazing. BUT... on a technical IQ level there are things some people are complaining about i.e. bad textures, low detail etc. But hey, it's a WiiU port. And it still looks great.

Yeah it also will undoubtedly look better in motion. And aren't the leaked assets from the Wii U version? Would they be better looking from the Switch version? Hmmm...

Has anyone from the press said anything about the game? At least on twitter? I am just asking because even though there was an embargo on Horizon, some people were giving vague hints.

The leaked assets are 2D menu graphics, no difference between the Wii U and Switch version in that regard.

Yeah they are from the Wii U version but I don't think the post in question was referring to the leaked assets, more so the feedback we saw in the 21 new screenshots thread.

Without getting spoilery, I think it'd be really difficult to make complaints about the leaked assets - it was all barebones stuff (not close to story spoilers IMO), and it was all stuff that objectively wouldn't need improvement.

Honestly, texture-wise its rock/stones that stand out the most IMO. While I love most of the visuals, I also keep getting the impression that they were confused about how far to go with stylized look. Case in point being rock/stone textures - artistically, they clash with everything else, and not only did they decide to lean more photorealistic for those, they decided to use textures that truly look like they belong in late Gen 6.

Nah dude. Many textures aren't good, especially for today's standards, but you really don't remember that well gen 6 games. The comparison is insulting.

I have a question, if anyone knows or can answer once the embargo lifts...

Can physical Switch games be easily shared between 2 Switch systems? Specifically, are the saves on the cart itself, or on the Switch system?

I'm hoping saves go to the system, so for example, I could share a game cart with my wife if we both had our own Switch units.

I really hope we get some solid info on Zelda WiiU vs Zelda Switch. Currently getting it on WiiU, but if Switch is significantly better, I'll wait till I can get a Switch.

It's surprising there doesn't seem to be any subtle, vague reactions to Zelda yet, apart from that tweet from NintendoForce

Saves are on the system itself. Switch carts are read only.

Dope. Can't wait.

Is zelda is not getting higher than a 9.5
It flopped

And i will still get it

But i will be very angry

As long as you enjoy the game I don't see the point of metascores and other rankings.

There are so many games that are underestimated because of that "general consensus" and biased metascrore and reviews made Under pressure (of an embargo date for instance).

Nothing to get angry, just ignore the review threads and the OT where people post two lines, drop their scores, whine and clash while you can enjoy the real thing and make up your own mind without disturbance in how your perceive the game. Get angry later (and even then it's not worth it). You'll enjoy the game even more.

So that means that every update will be on the system and the cart are unpatchable themselves.
Functionally they're mini-cd with only ROM then?
Yep. Nintendo said it themselves in the Kotaku Q&A. Saves go to the internal NAND memory. Carts are ROM Carts.

I'm so verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry disappointed at that it's not even funny!
Did they hint at a future where they could produce more than just ROM carts?

They're all too busy playing it to be able to stop and tweet :D

Ah gotcha, I thought some of those were 3D models based on the avatar you had earlier.

Have this been posted yet? Pretty funny.
