I can't read this. Make it a Pie Graph.

Where'd that gif of
Link reflecting a Guardian laser come from?
Because I want to do that and I need to study it.

Can somebody PLEASE help me understand something...

The television I want to hook up my switch to has a 1366 x 768 resolution, and I know it supports 720p and 1080i.

On this television, will I be able to to play Zelda at 900p?

Or if not and I have to select between 720p or 1080i mode, which should I choose?

Everyone's complaining that BOTW looks "ugly", and I can understand that viewpoint kinda, but honestly, I have to wonder how expensive this game would be if Nintendo designed it on super high tech hardware like the PS4 Pro or something.

Everyone? It seems to be the opposite. GAFfers and previewers may be critical of it technically, but most people say its an amazing looking game overall.

I'd imagine Nintendo takes home a bigger piece of the pie with each sale because it's first party. I wonder what the number of units would have to be if this game were made by some third party dev and sold on Switch.
Since licensing is usually 30%. They'd need to sell 2,600,000 copies.

Hype just got bigger! This game looks amazing. So many juicy details people are being forced to hold back....1 week.... we can survive... i hope...

Man the previews, videos, gifs, impressions, EVERYTHING is just so HYPE!!! I still remember how crazy it was when Nintendo announced that they were only gonna show TLoZ at E3 and now hearing all the impressions in the final build is just amazing. Only 1 week away till it drops!

Does the quietness of Hyrule Field in a lot of previews bother anyone else?
One of the things I loved about Twilight Princess when entering Hyrule Field was how the music started up really fast and made exploring seem exciting and adventurous. With there being such a lack of music at parts, I'm concerned that the game will feel significantly more dull than previous Zeldas. I've never seen a Zelda game this quiet before.

There are ways to defeat a Guardian early. The earliest I'd say is taking a bunch of weapons and bow/arrows. You hit him in the eye with an arrow to stop it from attacking for a few seconds, then hit him a few times with your weapon. Repeat until it's defeated. One mistake and you're dead.

I like it but many won't.

Nope.

I don't think the game's music will be dull. Some of the preview videos have a piece of music overlaid over them which sounds very bombastic, which means it must be somewhere in the game. Villages, stables, certain areas of the game have their own dedicated music pieces.

I think the more subdued music works for this game.

It was a purposeful choice with the music more atmospheric, and coming in during events, but if it's not to your liking, it's not to your liking.

I guess people don't like the art style. I'm pretty open to almost all graphical look, whether low budget or AAA. The one art style I personally don't like is the Mine craft or 3D Dot Hero art style. Those are still great games, it's just great games I won't play because of the graphics/art direction.

If Nintendo made this on a PS4 Pro I imagine that it'll still have the same art style/graphics but with more details and color with a higher resolution (1080p) & locked frame rate. But I'm kind of glad the Switch isn't a clone of the other 2 consoles. I'm not a graphics junkie and I love the portable aspect of it.

Or Parry it to death, or Roll bombs under it to get at its weakpoint there, or bash it to death with a metal plate with Magnesis and Stasis, using Cryonis or Magnesis to block its shots if you can, or take a chance with your horseback strats weaving, or use other Guardian beams and weave between them to have them take each other out... the possibilities are tantalizing.

Hah that's true. Reminds me of other games (ie Xenoblade and Xenoblade X) where you can try to cheese enemies even while being totally underleveled.

I've been wondering, but I don't wanna watch a bunch of videos and gifs so maybe someone can help me out here:

How in depth is the combat? Like, fighting hand to hand? Can smaller enemies move through your attacks and/or dodge? Is it easy to stun lock lost of enemies resulting in "mash attack to defeat?" Do weapons have pretty varied move sets with cool combinations of moves? How does parrying work?

I'm just hoping that one-on-one encounters can be clever and varied. I want to dodge through attacks and learn how enemy hitboxes line up with my dodge invincibility, and deliver cool critical attacks even on smaller enemies. Combat mechanics are some of the coolest part of action RPGs for me, so I'm hoping these things are as satisfying and surprisingly deep as the rest of the game and world.

As far as variety I think a the environment/enemy interactions will play into that a lot. We've already seen instances of enemies grabbing downed trees, throwing smaller enemies, picking up various items, etc., to attack Link. So in that sense I get the impression that encounters will have a lot variety to them. As far as pure sword play/weapon mechanics it's hard to tell how deep those are. I saw a post earlier mentioning that someone air combo'd an enemy with a spear, but I'm not sure how far that sort of thing goes. Kind of depends on the weapon/item variety and how they are used. The strict weapon durability will be great on this front though, pushing players to use different weapons and so on.

So looking through all the combat videos, is the Fatal blow not in BoTW?

LOVED delivering that fatal stab at the end in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I hope it's a learned skill later in the game.
