Jesus, nintendo defense force on first page.
Im curious to see how people feel about it once theyve finished zelda.
Because it honestly really has to be a barebones product when youre buying a 50 dollar street fighter 2 on it.
For people who say theyre enjoying, good for you i guess, but that doesn't address legitimate issues.
For people who are saying give it time, nintendo didnt, i dont see why critics would.
The reviews for this product have been an almost unanimous 'wait'.
Nintendo fans can really, really excuse anything from the company, it's amazing. Any switch critique doesn't matter because "we got breath of the wild, who cares about basic console features".
A beta test at full price.Wtf is a soft launch?
It's literally the only good reason to pay for a Switch, however. It literally isn't the only way to play it.
Uhhmmm, pretty sure I can play it on Wii U?
Uhhh...
The Switch is great once one accepts that first and foremost it's a handheld system. In fact, it's the best handheld on the market atm. Like a giant GBA.
I know when you pay $300+ for something, you expect more than "Let's wait and see." But even taking into account the Wii U's struggles, after the 3DS, I would say give it some time
Disagree, OP.
Console launches are almost always rocky with barebones games/features. Didn't PS4 not have a browser at launch and had issues with the controller de-syncing? Also, the famed disc ejection issue. Rockiness is almost expected. Not necessarily excusable, but let's give them more than a day to fix some of these issues.
Anecdotally, I've not yet had any issues with de-syncing or scratches and I actually dig the clean interface. I'll concede there aren't a whole lot of games, but the Nindies stuff and Zelda ought to keep us busy until E3, where we'll get a better idea of the year's outline.
One thing that isn't getting enough praise in discussions of the Switch is the ease of local multiplayer. I played Snipperclips with a friend at a bar who doesn't really play anything but wrestling games. We had a blast and that is a ridiculously awesome and indescribable thing to experience. I played BOTW while on a flight/train yesterday, and that's something that people aren't appreciating enough: the ability to play Zelda wherever the hell you are.
But some of those missing games and features is what caused the Wiiu sales to flatter. If the Switch don't have those soon specifically big third party support, I fear it will do Gamecube numbers at best. The Switch isn't for everyone, but maybe I'm not everyone? I could care less about Overwatch and Call of Duty and most of the major releases each year, and things like achievements are not my cup of tea, so maybe the bulk of your criticisms don't really hold much sway over me?
Jesus, nintendo defense force on first page. Guys even if you love your system, doesnt mean its perfect for everyone. There are lot of issues with switch, good for you if you love it but let other people criticize
I would consider both Vita and 3DS to be better handhelds then the switch considering their games/features.
Really that comes across as more embarrassing to me, they don't have to worry about balancing their Handheld and Console markets because they have fused them together, and yet the switch has more glaring problems both hardware software and features that it seems insane to me they haven't got their shit together.
They said they learned from from the mistakes of the Wii...then said they learned the mistakes from the 3DS...then said they learned the mistakes from the WiiU..and now with the switch they clearly haven't this shouldn't be a *Wait and See* they should have had Software/Features and good hardware ready.
And yet it was Joycon syncing Issues, Dock Scratching Screens, Lack of VR, Lack of Online Saves, Lack of Achievements, Lack Of Gaming Software, A separate phone app to voice chat, Expensive Accessories, ect ect.
I really want to give Nintendo my money but the ignorance of them puts me off, the software is amazing but im not putting my money towards a company that clearly does not care about its consumers, or at least ignorant of the wants and needs of them.

How is what he said remotely comparable to the first few pages filled with shit like "where did Reggie touch you, OP"???Not like any rational discussion is going to take place without people being dubbed a defense force. Honestly, it's people such as yourself and the fans who are an issue. In the past month, I've been accused of being a nintendo fanboy when disagreeing on certain aspects and a nintendo hater as well. If people could grow the fuck up and stop with the labels, then maybe an actual convo could occur. As it stands, it's just going to be two extremes acting like knuckleheads.
Loving my switch so far op.
I dont think its fair to compare switch to the ps4 or xb1.Disagree, OP.

With how much you see enamoured by Nintendo, i wouldn't blame you for forgetting 3rd party games exist and sell truck loads, yes, real live actual people buy them and play them.Have these people EVER played a new console at launch? Seriously, this is the dumbest response I've ever heard. I've been playing video games for over 20 years and remember every launch from the PS1/N64 and up. NEVER has there been a console worth owning at launch unless you were a die hard fan of one of the launch titles. Once you beat that game those consoles typically collected dust or you played previous gen titles on it (if it supported BC). Even the current gen leading PS4 was a waste of $400 at launch and for its first year. I guess people enjoyed Knack and Killzone until Infamous came out. 3 games I'm sure most of the current PS4 owners could really careless about.

The way some of you are downplaying the perfectly valid issues in the OP is mindboggling. If it were any other console, you'd be the first with your pitchforks out. As I said in my post not to long ago, these aren't the sorts of stupid oversights a company coming off of the Wii U should be making. Just because you're enjoying the system, doesn't make any of it less true.
Makes no sense and doesn't change what you said at all being 100% factually incorrect, but OK?It's literally the only good reason to pay for a Switch, however.
Technically, yes. The Wii U is an option. But we're all a bit savvy here when it comes to gaming and we should know that purchasing the game on the Wii U is for lack of a better word, settling. It's the only reason right now to purchase a Switch which is why I said it the way I did.

Hardly a con imo. Not everything needs to be a vr device. Especially when it's niche as hell already.
Hardware issues aside, my largest complaints are probably the lack of cloud saves or a method of transferring saves and that phone app. But honestly, I think it's a bit early to be going apeshit about any specifics in regards to online functionality at this point because they've been so bad at communicating how it will work. That's an issue in itself though.
How is what he said remotely comparable to the first few pages filled with shit like "where did Reggie touch you, OP"???
Im a idiot sorry meant VC not VR there haha.
Yep.
Nintendo appears to have really dropped the ball on the Switch
Apparently OP thinks a catch-all "Nintendo failed" thread is somehow more productive than people actually discussing individual issues in a focused manner.
It's no surprise that the thread like this would devolve from page one.
Yep.To be fair, people had time to prepare - since the OP had posted this same exact thread, without any meaningful changes, before the launch of the system as well.
I'll say what I said again - how is what you quoted even remotely the "reverse" of those first page samples? Pointing out that you can buy something and still recognize its flaws is the mirror image of molestation jokes and "mommy wouldn't buy you a console"?Because I think coming in to just throw out the same shit in reverse isn't much better. Crazy thinking I'm sure.
That's a fucking lie. Dreamcast launch lineup was godlike. I would argue and say launch games were a lot better than later games on the system.Have these people EVER played a new console at launch? I'm sure they do, but why would you buy a $400 PS4 or $500 Xbox One to play the same games when they came out on 360 and PS3. There was no reason to upgrade consoles for that unless you were a die hard fan.Overwhelming majority of PS4 owners care about third party support. Cod, Battlefield, AC, Fifa, Madden sell much more than most exclusives even to this day. Don't let the Neogaf & Reddit bubble cloud your judgement about what games matters to the general audience.

... I sure hope the launch games were good being the console got discontinued 18 months after it came out in North America. That's a fucking lie. Dreamcast launch lineup was godlike. I would argue and say launch games were a lot better than later games on the system.

Even with third party games, there hasn't been a really good launch line up since the PS2. I'm playing way more on the Switch on day one than I had any desire to with my PS4.I dont think its fair to compare switch to the ps4 or xb1.
For starters, these consoles could launch without a single exclusive for a year and they would still have games every month.
Things like a browser and netflix are far more useful on a tablet than a console.
Lastly, these weren't successors to a giant flop of a console.
These arguments make total sense, the only problem is the "i dont need so and so" thing is what led the wii u to be what it was.
You dont need to care for call of duty to know it sells more than the total number of wii u's sold, every year.
Off course then theres the whole likely issue of Nintendo doing its 'new' iteration.

Not to mention, the Dreamcast actually had a similar rushed, barebones launch in Japan. Many people forgot about it because the US launch was so good, but when the Dreamcast launched in 1998 in Japan, things weren't as rosey.Even with the Dreamcast, waiting would have been the better path. That thing got pretty aggressive bundles and price drops very quickly. Waiting is always better. I would actually point towards the Dreamcast as an example of how the quality of a console's launch doesn't really mean much about it's long term success.
Euphemism for paid public beta test.
